From c06ad8333fc6ba2c05b55cfa60ca7941255dd0c8 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Marcin Polewski Date: Fri, 30 Oct 2026 22:46:59 -0600 Subject: [PATCH 1/7] Re-review only what changed since the last review, and say when it's done A review of a pull request the bot has reviewed before compares the pull request's merge-base diff now with its merge-base diff at the last reviewed head, and reviews only the hunks that differ, plus what the author took back, so a merge of the default branch or a rebase changes nothing by itself. The last reviewed head is fetched if it isn't in the checkout; when it can't be, the review is a full one. Only correctness reviews them, on Sonnet, with the earlier findings and the replies in their threads as data, and checks each unresolved finding. It posts only blockers and should-fixes on lines changed since the last review, never nits, and its summary says "No further findings above nits" when nothing at or above should-fix is left. A run whose reviewers all failed records the head reviewed before it. The first review is unchanged. Two eval cases replay re-reviews of #29 and of #30 with main merged in. You get only the hunks that changed since the last review, what the author took back since then, and the findings earlier reviews posted, with the replies in their threads. The aim is a review that converges: it checks the earlier findings and looks for real defects in what changed, and it doesn't start over. + +- Review the changed hunks. Read any file in the checkout for context, but report a finding only on a line those hunks change. +- Report only `blocker` and `should-fix` findings. Nits aren't posted on a re-review, so don't report them. +- For each earlier finding whose `resolved` is false, check it against the code now and report its status under its `key`: `fixed` when the code no longer has the problem, `answered` when a reply gives a reason that holds, and `open` otherwise. In `note`, say in one sentence what you checked; when you disagree with a reply, say why there. +- Don't report an earlier finding again, resolved or not, as a new finding. The choice between a re-review and a full review, the recorded head and the re-review trace move from main.ts into runReview, which is tested. Thread reads take the finding from the first comment and the replies from the newest 50. Adds tests for the comparison and thread-read fallbacks, fetchCommit with a non-SHA, the generated-files summary and the size caps; reuses severityRank, errorText and the configured default tier; unexports parseHunks. --- CHANGELOG.md | 2 +- README.md | 3 +- evals/run.ts | 2 +- src/main.ts | 18 ++++--- src/rereview.ts | 104 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++--------- src/results.ts | 5 +- src/review.ts | 2 +- test/rereview.test.ts | 112 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++--- 8 files changed, 204 insertions(+), 44 deletions(-) diff --git a/CHANGELOG.md b/CHANGELOG.md index b51bc81..a58bbe1 100644 --- a/CHANGELOG.md +++ b/CHANGELOG.md @@ -11,7 +11,7 @@ The format is based on [Keep a Changelog](https://keepachangelog.com/en/1.1.0/), - `npm run typecheck` fails on what a linter would warn about: unused locals and parameters, implicit returns, switch fall-through, missing `override`, `undefined` written into an optional property, dotted access to an index signature, unreachable code and unused labels.
