Feature request: add optional description field #861
Description
It would be nice to track what each configuration setting does right there in the tool so that operations knows what each configuration setting affects.

IMO, using tags for descriptions is unwanted extra friction, as it requires extra poking around in the portal UI to edit the tags for each new entry. A dedicated description field that appears in the create-new-key-value UI is the best way to solve this.
Even better if it is easy to edit the description once to change it for multiple instances of the same key with different environment labels.

We are actively working on this feature and plan to release it in an upcoming API version.

Hello Matt Davis (@mattd-its) the description property is already available via the API, SDKs and CLI.
This week we are beginning an Azure Portal update so you can manage descriptions there as well. The release should take approximately ~2 weeks to complete.
