[FavoriteMedia]: Crash when loading local database (PTB) #267

Description

@LilyBageL

Discord Build

Stable

Discord Version

ptb 314440 (7ee63e1) Host 1.0.1094 x64 (50115) Build Override: N/A Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631)

Plugin Version

v1.10.1

Steps To Reproduce

1. Load Discord Test Build
Nothing appears in Ctrl+Shift+I console other than a few warnings for a few of the other 23 plugins I have

2. Open any channel with textbox

3. Open Image, Video, Audio, File tab of FavoriteMedia
Nothing appears in console other than a bunch of:
GET (Media link of media that's not loading) 404 (Not Found)
and
Could not load media: (Media link of media that's not loading)

4. Click on Local database icon

5. Popup of local database shows (custom red outline blocks to cover my unspeakable past)
image

6. After a few seconds (nothing new appears in console) it instantly CTD and the BetterDiscord crash popup shows
config.json as follows (media links removed to hide my unspeakable past):
FavoriteMedia.config.json

Describe the bug

When I open the local database to try and cache or clear cache and re-cache, it doesn't even load the database info in the popup screen, it just crashes. I tried setting allowcaching to false (seen in config attachment) and true several times, doesn't fix the issue. I checked the related issues prior to making this issue post, you mention that the related bugs were fixed in 10.1, but it still continues to manifest in my build, so I reckon the issue I'm encountering is different.

I have ~600 images and ~100 videos saved using the plugin, the amount might be the troublemaker? I have five times the amount of gifs, but I don't use the FavoriteMedia gifs feature because it's bugged and unsynced with my vanilla discord gifs on my build. The saved videos are affected the most out of all the tabs, having almost half of them without a preview.

I removed the media links in the config.json because ninety percent of the things I save are either horrid or horrid or horrid or horrid. But if necessary to diagnose the problem, I will provide the original, thousand-links config.json file.

Using the old 1.9.1 version distributed in another issue post, which had the "refresh urls" option, fixed the problem.
I'll use that version temporarily until a patch or update is pushed out!

Still experiencing this problem in 1.10.5, I tried rooting out if it's a plugin conflicting to no avail, loaded with only favorite media, zeres, and BDFDB, but it still crashed when loading the database. Right now the old 1.9.1 crashes the client as well so I have no way to refresh the URL embeds. I'm hoping for a fix or a loophole to bypass this issue at your earliest convenience!

Perhaps it's a media issue? I was getting straight crashes when ever I'd open a server with the plugin enabled, even if enabled standalone. However I just reinstalled the plugin, after renaming the extension in the plugins folder, and it's working fine now, albeit all the saved media I had on it is gone, but my client isn't crash looping anymore.

    btw I'm on stable 347699 (5cba0fe) Host 1.0.9171 x64 (55464) Build Override: N/A Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) running v1.11.1 with 45 Plugins and 1 theme enabled.

EDIT: My saved files are NOT gone, I was on the wrong category lol.

Well I tried troubleshooting it weeks ago by removing the config file which had all the saved media, it crashes like how I pointed out in the OP even with zero things to cache, then I fucked up and lost my saved media but the issue is still there. Strangely enough the images did fix itself I think after the newest update, but the videos are still without embed

I think Dastan did give us a way to refresh url without caching in a patch weeks ago now that I'm looking around the notes, I'll test it later

Just figured I'd mention I also have been getting this bug, but only on importing new previews. It typically crashes.

This option has since been removed, and thus I cant test if it still would work.

The option is available only when the database is disabled.

Ah, worked, and yes this doesn't cause a crash. Not too sure how much that's worth for solving this.
The crash for import happens before it displays how many files are in media cache

    @Hackertester172

Yeah still does this and if you have it off your gifs no longer refresh when you have this on so if you save any gifs outside of tenor or klipy you cant see em after like 3 days unless your on mobile its so effing annoying dude

I'm sure it's slowly being worked on, for the time being the refresh button works perfectly as a workaround to this, and it's not that complicated to work with.
