I really like your skill. I use it to break down complex machine learning lectures at university, but the problem is that explaining a single lecture uses up almost half of my weekly limit. I see this skill as a tool for ordinary students, one that helps them understand difficult material from books and lectures: read a chapter, generate a quick explanation, review it, and reinforce what you’ve learned. Right now, though, it’s quite hard to use this way, because it eats up a lot of my daily and weekly Claude Code limits.
Thanks for submitting the PR; it helped fix quite a few issues.
But, the problem you mentioned regarding token consumption is indeed real.
If I use Opus to create a video with images and storyboards, I run into the same issue you did—it immediately consumes a huge number of tokens. Using Sonnet would be slightly better, but the results aren't great. For this reason, I actually haven't been able to test Skil very extensively, since I'm also on the $20 Claude plan.
I’ve been experimenting with further breaking down tasks: using Haiku for simpler components (The issue is that some tasks—which I consider relatively simple for humans—still seem to be too difficult for Haiku.) , Sonnet for parts that review parts, and Opus for the core JS animation logic (this is must). It’s been working well so far, and I’ll be updating the skill accordingly.
Current experimental results show an increase in speed and a 50% reduction in token usage (though it remains costly); the animation performance is slightly better than I had anticipated (I’ve seen some claims online—about "Haiku + Skill" supposedly outperforming Opus—but that’s total nonsense, haha!).
