LilyPond reader

Agrees with LilyPond 2.24's own MIDI on 431 of 433 Mutopia files (419 in 0.12.0). The two left are a file LilyPond itself misreads and two \midi scores LilyPond writes as separate pieces.

• Chord tracks keep their own rhythm: a chord between two melody notes, several over one long note, a rest in the chord track, a stated octave, and \transpose around the track.
• Chord-mode /+fis (added bass), 7+, ^7; chord tracks found inside variables, beside skips, or on a staff of their own.
• \scaleDurations (and the old \compressMusic) are read, and \times inside \times composes.
• A grace note tied with ~ ties into its principal.
• A Dynamics line between two voices no longer takes the lower voice as its music.

Model

• ChordSymbol.offset, duration, voicingOctave, addedBass and copyWith. MusicXML <offset> and MuseScore <location> are read and written.
• Tuplet spans may nest: an element sounds the product of every span covering it. MusicXML numbered <tuplet> levels are read and written, and each level draws its own bracket.
• NoteElement.graceTiesToMain: a grace note tied into its principal (MusicXML and LilyPond), drawn as a short tie.

Playback

• Behaviour change: a slash chord whose bass is a chord tone plays inverted, as LilyPond plays it. g/b is B D G, and the bass is matched by spelling.

MusicXML

• A MuseScore staff in its own shorter time signature (local time signatures) is stretched to fill the bar. Against Verovio 1706 of 1745 files agree; five such files that Verovio itself misreads are set aside.

LilyPond reader

Agrees with LilyPond 2.24's own MIDI on 419 of 433 Mutopia files (314 of 374 in 0.11.0).

Oracle: the reference itself was rebuilt. The first build had silently skipped convert-ly (2.24 rejects -q) and kept only one MIDI file per source.

Reader fixes:

• A note crossing a barline is cut into tied notes.
• \unfoldRepeats is honoured anywhere, and percent and tremolo repeats take their time.
• Grace notes and string numbers or fingerings inside chords are read correctly.
• \tag / \removeWithTag, \language part-way through a file, and user music functions written in LilyPond.
• Staves inside \relative or braced groups, and voices given no staff, are found.
• \transpose takes a pitch held in a variable, and a score-level \transposition applies.
• \harmonicByFret sounds at the harmonic's pitch.
• A pre-2.18 file's pitchless \relative starts from middle C.

Playback

• playbackTimeline(voiceChordSymbols: true) sounds chord symbols the way LilyPond's MIDI plays a ChordNames track. Off by default.
• A measure-repeat (simile) bar sounds the bar it repeats.
• A D.S. with no segno or a To Coda with no coda no longer throws: the mark is read as text and play goes on.
