16-20: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winConfirm the typing policy for this new test module.
The coding guidelines require annotations on every Python function. This file leaves
_load_module,test_validate_models_rejects_padded_name, andtest_validate_models_rejects_padded_config_idunannotated. If this module is not covered by a permissive typing configuration, add-> types.ModuleTypeto_load_moduleand-> Noneto both tests. As per coding guidelines, every Python function must be annotated. Based on learnings, uniformly unannotated test modules may preserve that style when the applicable typing configuration disables untyped-definition checks.

confirming invalid identifiers are excluded from seen_model_configs and
seen_model_yaml_configs.

Approving — the comments below are optional touch-ups, not blockers.
The name/config_id fix is right, but it leaves the same hole open one field over: yaml_extra items are still only checked with .strip() truthiness, and tuple(yaml_extra) is used verbatim as the dedup key at [scripts/check_model_registry.py:122](https://github.com/NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM/pull/17756/files#diff-918a6c69b12cc8666d009e326395dc92f8aac19bd128f33b9daa4d3e3a22dc94R122). So [" world_size_1.yaml"] vs ["world_size_1.yaml"] still hash to different keys and escape the identical-yaml_extra check — the same failure mode the PR description cites, and the padded path doesn't resolve to a real file either. Worth covering in the same PR since it's one predicate.
Two added lines are over the repo's 100-column ruff limit ([scripts/check_model_registry.py:111](https://github.com/NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM/pull/17756/files#diff-918a6c69b12cc8666d009e326395dc92f8aac19bd128f33b9daa4d3e3a22dc94R111) at 102, :115 at 101), so ruff-format will rewrite them — please run pre-commit run --all-files and re-commit.
Notes on lines outside the diff:
- scripts/check_model_registry.py:103:
yaml_extraitems are validated for non-emptiness but not for padding, while the raw list becomes the dedup key at line 122.[" world_size_1.yaml"]therefore passes validation, doesn't collide with["world_size_1.yaml"]inseen_model_yaml_configs, and names a path that doesn't exist. Suggest tightening the same way:
if not isinstance(yaml_extra, list) or not all(
isinstance(item, str) and item.strip() and item == item.strip() for item in yaml_extra
):
errors.append(
f"{entry_label}: 'yaml_extra' must be a list of non-empty strings "
"without leading or trailing whitespace."
)(the same predicate is repeated at line 119, so both sites need it)

Closing as obsolete after #19028 removed AutoDeploy from TensorRT-LLM, including the model-registry checker and its tests. The validation path changed by this PR no longer exists on current main. |
Description
Fixes #17755.
AutoDeploy registry validation accepted non-empty
nameandconfig_idvalues with leading or trailing whitespace, which can bypass duplicate checks and create lookup mismatches that are hard to see in YAML. This change rejects padded identifiers and avoids registering invalid values in duplicate tracking.Test Coverage
Adds CPU-only tests for padded model names and config IDs, including duplicate-tracking behavior for invalid padded values.
The test file lives under
tests/unittest/scripts/, and that whole directory is already scheduled bytests/integration/test_lists/test-db/l0_cpu.ymlvia itsunittest/scriptsentry, so the new coverage is included in the CPU pre-merge suite without an additional per-file test-list entry.Checklist
