97-98: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAdd deterministic coverage for both architecture branches.
The L40S runs exercise the
< 90branch. The H100 and QA cases also invokerun_disaggregated_test, but they assert end-to-end behavior rather than the helper’s exact environment contract. They can pass if a regression setsNCCL_P2P_LEVELfor SM>= 90. Add a focused parameterized test that mocksget_sm_version()and assertsPXBfor< 90and no environment mutation for>= 90. Register its selector intests/integration/test_lists/test-db/l0_l40s.ymlif it remains in this integration module.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

…on pre-Hopper nodes The 8xL40S QA nodes were re-imaged (kernel 6.17, driver R595) with the AMD IOMMU left in DMA translation mode. PCIe peer-to-peer writes across the host bridge now fault (AMD-Vi IO_PAGE_FAULT) and never reach the peer GPU, while NCCL still selects its P2P/CUMEM transport (isAllDirectP2p=1). The first PP send/recv in the attention warmup forward then spins forever on the receiving rank, the worker never starts serving, never registers with the disagg server, and the test times out after 300s with "workers registered: 0/2". Set NCCL_P2P_LEVEL=PXB for sm<90 in run_disaggregated_test, next to the existing pre-Hopper UCX cuda_ipc exclusion, so NCCL falls back to SHM on those nodes. NVLink platforms are unaffected. Unwaive the four L40S cases; all pass on a re-imaged computelab L40S node (84s/86s/82s/169s) where the baseline hangs deterministically. Dev Engineer Review
run_disaggregated_testnow appliesNCCL_P2P_LEVEL=PXBwhenget_sm_version() < 90. The workaround usessetdefault, so an existing value is preserved.run_envbefore the context and generation worker environments are derived. The existingUCX_TLSbehavior remains unchanged.waives.txtremoves the four L40S disaggregated test waivers. The unrelated DeepSeek V3 Lite waiver remains.NCCL_P2P_LEVELis already set.QA Engineer Review

No test functions or test IDs were added or changed.test_disaggregated_ctxpp2_genpp2,test_disaggregated_ctxpp2_gentp2,test_disaggregated_ctxtp2_genpp2, andtest_disaggregated_multi_gpu.qa/llm_function_core.txt). The first three are listed in test-db configurations for DGX H100 and DGX B200;test_disaggregated_multi_gpuis listed for DGX H100. These listings do not establish L40S CI coverage.needs follow-up.Per-File QA Perspective
tests/integration/defs/disaggregated/test_disaggregated.py: Verify the new environment default on GPUs below SM 90, confirm an explicitNCCL_P2P_LEVELis preserved, and confirm Hopper behavior is unchanged. The affected tests appear in manual QA and in test-db lists, but the supplied evidence does not show L40S test-db coverage.tests/integration/test_lists/waives.txt: Removes four L40S disaggregated test exclusions, making them eligible to run rather than skipped. Confirm that the affected L40S tests pass without the waiver.Description
test_disaggregated_ctxpp2_genpp2/ctxpp2_gentp2/ctxtp2_genpp2/multi_gpuon L40S time out after 300s withworkers registered: 0/2. Reproduced deterministically on a computelab 8xL40S node with currentmain; root cause is environmental, not a code regression:_run_attention_warmup: PP rank 0 waits in the_should_run_warmup_batchallgather for the next shape while PP rank 1 sits in the first forward with the NCCL recv kernel spinning (GPU 100%). Rank 0's send data never lands on rank 1.torch.arange(..., 'cuda:0').to('cuda:1')copy returns wrong data for every element and each copy logsnvidia ...: AMD-Vi: Event logged [IO_PAGE_FAULT]in dmesg. The nodes were re-imaged (kernel 6.17, driver R595) with the AMD IOMMU in DMA translation mode (iommu_groups/*/type = DMA-FQ, noiommu=pt), so PCIe P2P writes across the host bridge fault, while NCCL still selects P2P/CUMEM (isAllDirectP2p 1). A baretorch.distributedsend/recv between two GPUs hangs the same way.a4u8g-mil-0029with driver 595.84; the same node passed on 8/21 (Consistent Output with Same Prompts #2411) with driver 570.86.15, and the "passing commit" run ([Question] Can I build the tritonserver, tensorrtllm_backend and tensorrtllm and then use these build files across servers? #2423) was on a different node.The real fix is on the node side (
iommu=pt/ ACS). Until then, setNCCL_P2P_LEVEL=PXBfor sm<90 inrun_disaggregated_test, right next to the existing pre-HopperUCX_TLS=^cuda_ipcexclusion, so NCCL falls back to SHM there. NVLink platforms are unaffected. Unwaive the four L40S cases.The B200/B300
ctx_pp4cases listed under the same bug are NVLink platforms and are not touched by this PR; they likely have a different root cause and should be split into a separate bug.Test Coverage
Re-verified after rebasing onto main
cc63e66daf(tests now use Qwen3-0.6B after #19178), on computelab 8xL40S node4u8g-gen-0035(kernel 6.17.0-35, driver 595.58.03, IOMMU groupsDMA-FQ, noiommu=pt). A directcuda:0 -> cuda:1copy on this node still corrupts 1048575 of 1048576 elements, while the CPU-staged copy is correct.With this change and no extra env (workers get
NCCL_P2P_LEVEL=PXB):test_disaggregated_ctxpp2_genpp2PASSED 142stest_disaggregated_ctxpp2_gentp2PASSED 72stest_disaggregated_ctxtp2_genpp2PASSED 74stest_disaggregated_multi_gpuPASSED 140sControl: forcing P2P back on with
NCCL_P2P_LEVEL=SYS(kept bysetdefault),test_disaggregated_ctxpp2_genpp2fails with the original signature,TimeoutErrorafter 300s withworkers registered: 0/2.Before the rebase (tests still on TinyLlama-1.1B-Chat-v1.0), node
a4u8g-mil-0024showed the same picture: baseline hung 3/3, and all four tests passed with this change.PR Checklist
