Resolutions: - model_engine.py (content conflict): main's NVIDIA#19696 moved the engine decoder buffers and state into _allocate_decoder_buffers() and _init_decoder_state(). Kept main's layout and ported this branch's __init__ changes into it: - _allocate_decoder_buffers(): no num_accepted_draft_tokens_cuda; this branch removes the num_accepted_draft_tokens plumbing, and main adds no reader of it. - _init_decoder_state(): _staged_previous_batch_indices and _staged_previous_pos_indices next to _encoder_decoder_staged_request_ids; _step_input_stage next to _prepare_inputs_event. - _prepare_tp_inputs(): the gather_ids upload stays copy_to_device_if_changed, under main's enable_spec_decode argument. - model_engine.py (semantic): the step-copy selection reads the enable_spec_decode argument that NVIDIA#19696 passes to _prepare_tp_inputs, not self.enable_spec_decode. - kv_cache_manager_v2.py (semantic): stage_batch_block_offsets builds its copy index as main's copy_batch_block_offsets now does (beam width up to max_copy_beam_width, beam 0 replicated for cross KV). - test_pytorch_model_engine.py (semantic): the staged-step test passes _prepare_tp_inputs' keyword-only enable_spec_decode, runtime_draft_len and is_dummy arguments. Signed-off-by: Vasanth Sabavat <vsabavat@nvidia.com>
This branch carries NVIDIA#19816's content at 546e567. The conflicts and semantic fixes below are the ones NVIDIA#19816 resolved in its published merges 0c9ab14 (main 70193ec) and 44a06db (main a1f562a), applied to this branch's copies of those files. Conflicts: - model_engine.py: main's NVIDIA#19696 moved the engine decoder buffers and state into _allocate_decoder_buffers() and _init_decoder_state(). Kept main's layout with this branch's __init__ changes ported into it (_staged_previous_batch_indices / _staged_previous_pos_indices next to _encoder_decoder_staged_request_ids, _step_input_stage next to _prepare_inputs_event, no num_accepted_draft_tokens_cuda). The gather_ids upload stays copy_to_device_if_changed, under main's enable_spec_decode argument. - cuda_graph_runner.py: main's NVIDIA#19306 strict-buffer snapshot now follows the captured forward directly; the post-capture postprocess_fn call stays removed. - test_cuda_graph_capture_replay.py: both sides' test classes kept. - l0_b200.yml: both sides appended to the same B200 pre-merge block; main's MiniMax-H3 line first, then the Kimi K3 kernel tests. Semantic fixes: - model_engine.py: the step-copy selection reads the enable_spec_decode argument that NVIDIA#19696 passes to _prepare_tp_inputs. - kv_cache_manager_v2.py: stage_batch_block_offsets builds its copy index as main's copy_batch_block_offsets now does (NVIDIA#17306: beam width up to max_copy_beam_width, beam 0 replicated for cross KV). - test_pytorch_model_engine.py: the staged-step test passes _prepare_tp_inputs' keyword-only enable_spec_decode, runtime_draft_len and is_dummy arguments. - test_cuda_graph_capture_replay.py: the postprocess_fn case of main's test_replay_rejects_rebound_graph_attr needs the post-capture call and is dropped; test_postprocess_fn_follows_only_the_warmup_forwards pins that postprocess_fn runs only after the warmup forward. Also: cpp/tensorrt_llm/kernels/kdaDecode/kdaDecodeLegacy.cu now equals main's (NVIDIA#19830 is this branch's two __syncwarp() calls). Signed-off-by: Vasanth Sabavat <vsabavat@nvidia.com>
Main's NVIDIA#19696 dropped the per-invocation enable_spec_decode term from _should_use_full_generation_page_table (page-table sizing now depends on static config only). Carry that into the extracted uses_full_generation_page_table helper: drop its enable_spec_decode parameter and update the executor-creator call, which passed a literal True, so behavior is unchanged on both paths. Dev Engineer Review
PyTorchModelEnginenow passesenable_spec_decode,runtime_draft_len, andis_dummyas invocation state instead of relying on mutable engine fields. Warmup and CUDA graph capture build separate scheduled inputs, and warmup uses configured speculation state. Decoder buffers and decoder-only state are initialized only for engine-fallback runners. CUDA-graph release now includes decoder graphs.make_scheduled_inputscentralizesScheduledInputsconstruction and context-logit aggregation.resolve_draft_lenseparates draft-length selection and request-buffer updates fromupdate_draft_len. These changes alter internal call signatures and draft-buffer behavior; callers and decoder fallback, pooling, and encoder-decoder paths should remain consistent.QA Engineer Review
The PR changes seven unit-test files under
tests/unittest/_torch/executor/:engine/test_common.py,engine/test_runners.py,test_breakable_cuda_graph.py,test_distributed_warmup_oom.py,test_eager_workspace_engine.py,test_pytorch_model_engine.py, andtest_pytorch_model_engine_warmup.py. Coverage includes scheduled-input construction, explicit dummy and speculation-state propagation, decoder-state preservation on success and failure, warmup OOM handling, engine initialization, warmup and graph-capture state isolation, and draft-length selection and buffer updates. No changed integration test or test-list file for these behaviors is identified in the supplied change summary. The listed unit tests do not require entries in the integration CI or manual-QA lists. Coverage verdict: needs follow-up because the supplied CI evidence includes failed L0_MergeRequest_PR pipelines (
#62504and#62904); job 76295 itself reported success, and job 75801 was aborted. Test results for individual changed tests are unavailable.Per-File QA Perspective
tensorrt_llm/_torch/pyexecutor/engine/runners/common.py— Addsmake_scheduled_inputs, which carries speculation state and gathers context-logit settings from context requests. Verify both ordinary scheduled execution and requests that mix context-logit settings.tensorrt_llm/_torch/pyexecutor/model_engine.py— Passes invocation state through preparation, graph selection, and forward paths; isolates warmup and capture inputs; and limits decoder-state allocation to engine fallback. It is a unit test, not an integration CI or manual-QA list entry.Description
The engine's decoder path read per-call state (
enable_spec_decode,runtime_draft_len,is_warmup) from engine fields, so the scheduled-runner contract from #19592 had to write those fields before each call and read the effective draft length back afterwards. Decoder preparation, graph selection and forward now take the speculation state andis_dummyas arguments and return the effective draft length in the result. Warmup and CUDA graph capture build their own inputs and no longer overwrite the engine's serving state. Decoder buffers are allocated in one method, only on engines that fall back to the in-engine decoder. The second commit removes what would block moving the decoder into its own runner unchanged. Warmup follows the configured
is_spec_decode; decoder-only runtime state is gated on the same fallback; scheduled-input construction moves toengine/runners/common.py. With an external drafter, warmup after KV-cache estimation now runs with speculation on as configured, instead of inheriting the flag left by the estimation run.Test Coverage
