Resolve ImageBench cache routing from its text decoder config.
With use_kv_cache_manager_v2="auto" and no disaggregated transceiver, this preference selects V2. The manager resolver reads the outer ImageBench config, misses its Qwen3.5 hybrid text decoder, and selects generic KVCacheManagerV2. Metadata preparation then sets mamba_metadata=False; the inherited Qwen3Next forward reads mamba_metadata.max_batch_size and can fail with AttributeError. Use the inner text config for both manager selection and construction.

Approving — the comments below are optional touch-ups, not blockers.
This changes the default KV cache manager for every Qwen2/Qwen2.5/Qwen3 user on auto, which is one of the most heavily used model families. Please file a JIRA and use it in the title in place of [None], so the default flip can be traced if a regression report comes in.
Two things to cover in the description:
- V2 feature gaps for Qwen users. The description lists what stays enforced (disagg transceiver demotion, hybrid/beam restrictions). It doesn't cover features a typical Qwen3 deployment might rely on that work differently or are unsupported under V2, such as LoRA, host/secondary-tier offload, KV connectors, and one-model spec-dec (MTP/Eagle3 on
Qwen3ForCausalLM). If those are already covered by the Llama flip in #19004, a one-line pointer is enough. If not, say which features users would need to opt back to V1 for (use_kv_cache_manager_v2=False). - The
_util.pyfix applies to every VANILLA + V2 model, not only Qwen. Under VANILLA + V2, KV capacity now comes fromfree_gpu_memory_fraction * free_memat build time without a profiling pass. That matches the encoder-decoder andTRTLLM_SKIP_KV_CACHE_ESTIMATIONpaths. VANILLA uses more activation memory than TRTLLM attention, though, so note that the fraction is not reduced to account for activations. That way an OOM report can be matched to this change.
The 10 identical get_preferred_kv_cache_manager_version overrides follow the existing per-class pattern, so I have no objection there.

VANILLA + V2 with a non-HELIX CP type still falls through both capacity paths. The CP branch above doesn't promote it, and this condition excludes it, so construction should still hit Quota not set there. If that combination is unsupported anyway, an explicit error here (or a short comment saying so) would make the gap clear and avoid the late failure. The cp_type not in cp_config guard currently reads as if it intentionally covers that case.

Description
Tests migrated from TinyLlama to Qwen3-0.6B in #19178 lose their automatic KVCacheManagerV2 selection: Llama prefers V2 after #19004, while ordinary Qwen3 still falls back to V1. Explicit V2 tests retain coverage, including the iteration-stat tests pinned by #19207.
Prefer V2 for the remaining registered Qwen implementations: Qwen2/Qwen2.5 and Qwen3 dense, MoE, VL, reward and embedding variants. QwenImageBench checkpoints use the existing Qwen3.5 VLM wrapper after #19892; that wrapper already prefers V2, so the retired dedicated wrapper and registration are not restored. The outer VL wrappers declare their preferences because model loading resolves the checkpoint's registered outer architecture. Cosmos3 inherits the Qwen3-VL preference. The unrelated Exaone wrapper sharing the Qwen2 VL base keeps its existing behavior.
Qwen3-Next and Qwen3.5 dense/MoE text and VL already selected V2 through #16598, then adopted the preference hook in #16060. Qwen3.8-Flash-Next (
Qwen4Exptext/VL registrations) already prefers V2 as well. Extend the existing registered-model check to cover all 18 current Qwen registrations and the Cosmos3 descendant; update the default-manager documentation.Explicit manager settings and existing compatibility checks remain in effect. The global Python/NIXL transceiver default from #18134 already retains V2 for supported automatic disaggregated routes; incompatible routes keep their existing fallback. Hybrid snapshot/reuse and beam-search restrictions remain enforced by the existing loader and manager validation.
For VANILLA attention, initialize the V2 KV memory quota before constructing the manager when profiling is disabled. Fraction-only Qwen3-VL E/PD configurations otherwise skip both capacity-configuration paths and fail with
Quota not set. Keep the existing V1 and context-parallel sizing behavior.Test Coverage

/bot help.Dev Engineer Review
The Qwen2, Qwen2.5, and Qwen3 model implementations now prefer KVCacheManagerV2 across dense, MoE, VL, reward, and embedding variants. The preference on VL wrapper classes matches model loading by registered outer architecture. Cosmos3 inherits the Qwen3-VL preference. The changes leave the unrelated Exaone wrapper and existing Qwen3-Next, Qwen3.5, and Qwen3.8-Flash-Next preferences unchanged.
For VANILLA attention without profiling, the executor now initializes the V2 KV-cache quota before manager construction. Existing V1 and context-parallel sizing behavior remains unchanged. The documentation describes the updated model coverage and recurrent state pools. Explicit manager settings and compatibility restrictions are reported to remain in effect.
No current review findings or severity counts were supplied. The CI comments report a failed L0 pipeline but do not include failure details. A later helper run was aborted, and no result is provided for the third run.
QA Engineer Review
Three unit-test files changed. They cover registered-model preferences, VANILLA V2 quota setup, and HELIX estimation safeguards, including VANILLA and unsupported context-parallel configurations. The registered-model preference test adds Qwen2-family and Cosmos3 coverage; the objectives report coverage for all 18 current Qwen registrations and the Cosmos3 descendant.
The changed tests are unit tests, not entries in the integration CI or manual-QA lists. Separately, the Qwen3-VL VideoMME integration test remains listed in
l0_b200.ymlandqa/llm_function_core.txt; the objectives report no matching waiver to remove. The author reports that 104 focused CPU tests passed and that the VideoMME test passed on B200 with 300/300 questions. These results are author-reported; the standard CI failure details are unavailable.Coverage verdict: sufficient for the changed behavior, based on the described regression tests and reported focused test run.
