…nt declares it NemotronHConfig from tensorrt_llm._torch.configs (NVIDIA#18042), registered for nemotron_h checkpoints whose hybrid_override_pattern has "-" MLP layers, defaulted mamba_ssm_cache_dtype to "float32". transformers 5.5.4 prefers a registered non-transformers config class over the checkpoint's remote code even with trust_remote_code=True, so dense checkpoints such as NVIDIA-Nemotron-Nano-12B-v2, whose config.json does not declare the field, switched from a bf16 to an fp32 SSM state cache. That doubles the recurrent state per sequence (75.5 MB -> 148.9 MB for Nano-12B-v2). At max_batch_size 512 the V2 Mamba cache then needs 513 x 148,865,024 + 786,432 = 76,368,543,744 bytes, above the ~53 GB H100 quota, and these perf tests fail at executor init with "The V2 Mamba GPU cache quota is too small for live recurrent states and attention pages": perf/test_perf.py::test_perf[nemotron_nano_12b_v2-bench-pytorch-bfloat16-input_output_len:128,128] perf/test_perf.py::test_perf[nemotron_nano_12b_v2-bench-pytorch-bfloat16-input_output_len:500,2000-con:250] Leave mamba_ssm_cache_dtype as None when the checkpoint does not declare it, so resolve_auto_ssm_cache_dtype falls back to the model dtype, as it does with the checkpoint's own config and on main (which does not carry NVIDIA#18042). A declared value is still honored, and patterns transformers can represent natively still load through its own NemotronHConfig. Add a regression test for both cases. …h heuristic The previous commit leaves NemotronHConfig.mamba_ssm_cache_dtype as None when a dense Nemotron-H checkpoint does not declare it. to_dict() passes that None on to trtllm-bench's NemotronHybridConfig, whose Optional[str] field keeps it rather than falling back to its "auto" default. calc_engine_setting only skipped the dtype lookup for "auto", so it called str_dtype_to_torch(None) and failed with "Unsupported dtype: None" whenever trtllm-bench had to derive max_batch_size or max_num_tokens, i.e. unless both were passed. This affects dense checkpoints such as NVIDIA-Nemotron-Nano-12B-v2, Nano-9B-v2 and Nano-9B-v2-NVFP4. Treat None like "auto", as get_settings already does for the user-provided value, so the heuristic sizes the recurrent state the same way as for a config without the field (as on main). Add a CPU unit test covering None, "auto" and an explicit float32. Signed-off-by: Wangshanshan <30051912+dominicshanshan@users.noreply.github.com>
… trtllm-bench heuristic The runtime resolves an unset mamba_ssm_cache_dtype (None or "auto") from the checkpoint's dtype/torch_dtype via resolve_auto_ssm_cache_dtype, but calc_engine_setting always sized it at 2 bytes per element. For a float32 checkpoint that halves the estimated recurrent state per request, so the heuristic picks about twice the max_batch_size an fp32 SSM cache fits (676 instead of 350 for the Nemotron-Nano-12B-v2 geometry on an 80 GB GPU at ISL/OSL 128/128), which can then exceed the V2 Mamba cache quota at executor init. Resolve None and "auto" from model_config.dtype, which the bench reads from the same checkpoint fields, before choosing the element size. bf16 and fp16 checkpoints, including the published Nemotron-Nano-12B-v2 and Nano-9B-v2 (NVFP4) configs, are sized as before. Extend the unit test with a float32 model. Signed-off-by: Wangshanshan <30051912+dominicshanshan@users.noreply.github.com>

Approving — the comments below are optional touch-ups, not blockers.
The config-default change matches the reported failure, and both regression tests check behavior directly: the AutoConfig round-trip plus resolve_auto_ssm_cache_dtype, and calc_engine_setting with None/"auto" against an explicit dtype.
Description: the prose never mentions the heuristics.py change, but that change is required by the config change. trtllm-bench builds NemotronHybridConfig from AutoConfig(...).to_dict(), so the new None default reaches the heuristic, and the old code would have called str_dtype_to_torch(None). It also changes behavior beyond Nemotron-H: for both NemotronHybridConfig and Qwen3HybridConfig, "auto" is now sized from the model dtype instead of always 2 bytes, so fp32-dtype checkpoints get a smaller estimated batch. That matches what the runtime allocates, but please add a sentence on it to the description so the release/1.3 cherry-pick history is clear.

NemotronHConfig from tensorrt_llm._torch.configs (#18042), registered for nemotron_h checkpoints whose hybrid_override_pattern has "-" MLP layers, defaulted mamba_ssm_cache_dtype to "float32". transformers 5.5.4 prefers a registered non-transformers config class over the checkpoint's remote code even with trust_remote_code=True, so dense checkpoints such as NVIDIA-Nemotron-Nano-12B-v2, whose config.json does not declare the field, switched from a bf16 to an fp32 SSM state cache.
That doubles the recurrent state per sequence (75.5 MB -> 148.9 MB for Nano-12B-v2). At max_batch_size 512 the V2 Mamba cache then needs 513 x 148,865,024 + 786,432 = 76,368,543,744 bytes, above the ~53 GB H100 quota, and these perf tests fail at executor init with "The V2 Mamba GPU cache quota is too small for live recurrent states and attention pages":
perf/test_perf.py::test_perf[nemotron_nano_12b_v2-bench-pytorch-bfloat16-input_output_len:128,128]
perf/test_perf.py::test_perf[nemotron_nano_12b_v2-bench-pytorch-bfloat16-input_output_len:500,2000-con:250]
Leave mamba_ssm_cache_dtype as None when the checkpoint does not declare it, so resolve_auto_ssm_cache_dtype falls back to the model dtype, as it does with the checkpoint's own config and on main (which does not carry #18042). A declared value is still honored, and patterns transformers can represent natively still load through its own NemotronHConfig.
trtllm-bench builds NemotronHybridConfig from AutoConfig(...).to_dict(), so the new None default also reaches its max batch size heuristic, where the old code would have called str_dtype_to_torch(None). calc_engine_setting now treats None the same as "auto" and sizes both from the model dtype, matching resolve_auto_ssm_cache_dtype. Before, "auto" always counted 2 bytes per element. This applies to both NemotronHybridConfig and Qwen3HybridConfig, so checkpoints with an fp32 dtype now get a smaller, but correct, estimated batch size.
Add a regression test for both cases.

NemotronHConfignow defaultsmamba_ssm_cache_dtypetoNone. This allows dtype resolution to use the model dtype when the checkpoint omits the field, while preserving a declared value.Noneand"auto"to the model dtype for Nemotron and Qwen3 hybrid configurations.
