178-179: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winTest the empty-descriptor metadata query.
The new empty-descriptor path calls
check_remote_metadata(name)without conversion. The added Python-agent tests only pass nonempty descriptors. Add an emptyMemoryDescscase intests/unittest/disaggregated/test_agent.pythat checks the lookup result and asserts thatget_xfer_descsis not called. This will catch a regression that makes peer-only metadata queries fail.As per path instructions, “Leave an INLINE review comment on the smallest relevant changed production-code hunk when a material test coverage gap exists.”

Thanks for the PR! This change aligns with the PACT lifecycle design: Checking destinations before backend submission lets rejected sender operations retire as NOT_SUBMITTED, avoiding unnecessary quarantine. Failures that may have exposed memory still retain IN_DOUBT protection. This follows PACT’s rule: retire from proven non-exposure or qualified access-end evidence.
The proof remains specific to the rejected sender operation. Receiver publication, sibling transfers, and pending copies retain their existing lifecycle obligations. The bounce preflight also avoids unnecessary slot reservation and gathering.
Overall this is a useful pattern to apply across transfer paths: validate before exposure and distinguish guaranteed rejection from uncertain submission.

No matching integration test-list entry was found.Description
Validate native sender WRITE destinations against remote NIXL registrations before backend submission. Invalid ranges and metadata-query errors fail only the affected request, retiring unsubmitted ownership without poisoning the sender. Actual backend submission failures retain the existing conservative ownership handling.
For bounce-buffer transfers, also validate the original remote KV destinations that the receiver later uses for scatter. This prevents a valid registered bounce arena from masking an unregistered final destination.
Implement the metadata query in the Python fallback and split C++ descriptor checks at advertised VMM registration boundaries, preserving valid cross-chunk transfers. No new configuration or low-level submission API restriction is introduced.
Scope: registration-range validation is not peer or tenant authorization. Direct backend use and access to deliberately registered/shared memory remain permitted; this change does not fully resolve the broader reported capability-sharing scenario.
