Problem

expo-sharing 57.0.17 shipped on 2026-09-01. The Release Smoke check deletes the lockfile and re-resolves from scratch, so the ~57.0.16 range now resolves to 57.0.17 and pnpm rejects the install with ERR_PNPM_UNUSED_PATCH because patches/expo-sharing@57.0.16.patch no longer matches anything. Release Smoke is a required check, so this blocks every PR (#107 and #108 are both red on it).

Fix

Pin expo-sharing to the exact 57.0.16 the patch targets. The resolved version in the lockfile is unchanged; only the importer specifier moves. Upstream carries the same range and patch, so this will surface there too. Drop the pin when the patch is moved to a newer release.

Verification

  • node scripts/release-smoke.ts locally: "Release smoke checks passed."
  • vp install --lockfile-only diff is the one specifier line.

Mobile dependency metadata only. No native or JS behaviour change.

expo-sharing 57.0.17 shipped on 2026-09-01. The Release Smoke check
regenerates the lockfile from scratch, so the ~57.0.16 range now resolves
to 57.0.17 and pnpm rejects the install because the patch pinned to
57.0.16 goes unused (ERR_PNPM_UNUSED_PATCH). That blocks every PR, since
Release Smoke is a required check.

Pin the exact version the patch targets. Upstream carries the same range
and the same patch, so this will surface there too; drop the pin when the
patch moves.

No major structural issues were found.

This is a specifier pin (~57.0.16 → 57.0.16) so the existing expo-sharing@57.0.16 patch still matches when Release Smoke deletes the lockfile and re-resolves. No new branches, abstractions, or file-size growth. The lockfile change is the importer specifier only; the resolved version is unchanged.
