Issue facts

  • Actual behavior: a mixed upstream OpenAI SSE delta loses content during Claude stream conversion; a mapped Claude public name uses locked output ratio 5 despite an explicit ratio of 3.375001140625.
  • Impact: assistant replies can lack their opening text; mapped local models can consume excess output quota.
  • Frequency: the rc.40 thinking-stream reproduction lost the requested prefix in 9/12 calls; non-stream and thinking-disabled stream retained it in 3/3 each. Isolated rc.40 billing reproduced ratio 5 in one request; the resolver branch is deterministic.
  • Evidence that the problem is in new-api rather than the client or upstream: raw upstream SSE had both reasoning_content and content with the full prefix; raw New API SSE lacked that prefix even on localhost. The baseline consume log showed is_model_mapped=true, completion_ratio=5, and quota 11 with an explicit configured ratio of 3.375001140625.
  • Applicable types and their fields (relay / billing / frontend / deployment; write "not applicable" otherwise): relay POST /v1/messages, OpenAI-compatible upstream, stream=true, thinking enabled, pass-through off; billing 58 input / 27 output tokens, model ratio 0.0547945, group ratio 1, expected pre-rounding quota ≈8.17 versus observed 10.58 before rounding; frontend not applicable; Docker/Linux ARM64/SQLite rc.40 baseline.

Change

Research

Duplicate / prior art

Docs and code

  • README / repo docs: README.md
  • Code paths and what they imply for this change: to_claude_messages_resp.go 的互斥分支丢弃同帧正文;model_ratio.go 按公有名称锁定倍率;relay/helper/price.go 可读取实际渠道映射状态。

Alternatives considered

  • Why this approach:

Files

Path Why
relaykit/relayconvert/internal/oai_chat/to_claude_messages_resp.go 逐项发出混合流字段。
relaykit/relayconvert/internal/oai_chat/to_claude_messages_resp_test.go
setting/ratio_setting/model_ratio.go 为映射模型读取明确配置的输出倍率。
relay/helper/price.go
relay/helper/price_test.go 通过真实映射辅助函数验证映射/未映射计费分支。

Behavior

  • After: SSE
  • Explicit non-goals / leftover work: 不改上游生成内容、默认官方模型定价、数据库结构或前端;全局模型价格预览没有渠道上下文,仍可能显示未映射时的锁定倍率。

Verification

  • Commands and results: cd relaykit && GOWORK=off go test ./relayconvert/... -count=1:转换器各测试包通过,包括新增的混合帧断言;cd relaykit && GOWORK=off go build ./...:独立模块编译通过。GOWORK=off go test ./relay/helper ./setting/ratio_setting -count=1:两包通过;映射 Sonnet/Opus 使用 3.375001140625/3.5,未映射同名模型和无显式配置的映射模型保持 5。GOWORK=off go test ./relay/channel/openai -count=1:通过。GOWORK=off go build ./relay/... ./setting/...:通过。git diff --check:无空白错误。
  • Tests added or updated, or why none: 扩展已有 Claude 流转换测试与价格辅助函数测试。
  • Databases / providers / platforms exercised: SQLite 和本地 OpenAI-compatible Qwen 用于 rc.40 现场复现;当前 main 的 Go 测试运行于 Linux x86_64。
GOWORK=off go build ./...

Risks

Scope check

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Corrected completion-ratio billing for mapped model aliases when a specific ratio is configured; aliases without a configured ratio continue to use the default.
    • Streaming responses now preserve reasoning, text, citations, and tool-call data when these arrive in different orders, including text between tool-argument updates.
    • Improved completion handling so buffered content is delivered when a stream ends, with usage, stop reasons, and completion state preserved.

Walkthrough

The PR updates Claude stream conversion to retain reasoning, text, annotations, and tool-call data across mixed stream chunks. It also selects configured completion ratios for mapped models when channel metadata is present.

Changes

Claude stream conversion

Layer / File(s) Summary
Stream block helpers and pending delta state
relaykit/relayconvert/convmeta/meta.go, relaykit/relayconvert/internal/oai_chat/to_claude_messages_resp.go
The conversion metadata stores pending non-tool deltas. Shared helpers close blocks, emit reasoning, text, and citations, and flush pending deltas.
Stream delta processing and finalization
relaykit/relayconvert/internal/oai_chat/to_claude_messages_resp.go, relaykit/relayconvert/internal/oai_chat/to_claude_messages_resp_test.go
The converter buffers non-tool deltas while tool blocks are active and flushes them before terminal events and pending tools. Tests cover mixed deltas, interleaved text and tool arguments, and usage-only or EOF termination.

Mapped model pricing

Layer / File(s) Summary
Mapped completion ratio selection
setting/ratio_setting/model_ratio.go, relay/helper/price.go, relay/helper/price_test.go
The ratio helper returns an explicitly configured completion ratio or falls back to the regular ratio. Pricing uses the mapped ratio when channel metadata is present and the model is mapped. Tests cover configured and fallback ratios.

The change preserves mixed reasoning, text and tool-call content in Claude streams and applies configured completion ratios to mapped models. No outstanding merge-blocking issue was found.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 637d6

The new delayed-response buffer has no cumulative size limit in the reviewed path. A hostile upstream could increase memory pressure while keeping a stream active. Existing cancellation and per-event limits provide containment, but do not bound accumulated content.

Retained concerns

  • Medium · security · inferred: While a tool block remains active, every nonempty text, reasoning, or raw annotation delta is retained without a cumulative byte or entry limit. A hostile configured upstream can repeatedly send annotation-only frames without finishing, growing retained memory independently of the existing text-based token-accounting buffer. Terminal flushing, cancellation, and per-line limits mitigate finite or interrupted streams, but do not bound accumulation during continued input. Availability impact on other requests sharing the process is inferred, not experimentally verified.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The identified exposure is availability of the process performing conversion. Concurrent affected streams can compound memory pressure and potentially affect unrelated requests sharing that process. Tenant, replica, and environment scope cannot be determined from the supplied topology evidence.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — A hostile upstream can open a tool block, then emit repeated nonempty annotation deltas without a finish reason. Those bytes accumulate until a flushing transition occurs, and continued input resets the scanner's idle timer. This supports an inferred resource-containment concern, not a verified exploit or proof that an unauthenticated consumer controls upstream output.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The scanner applies a configurable per-line limit, defaulting to 128 MiB, and bounds its handoff channel to ten entries. Idle timeout and client cancellation stop upstream reading. These are useful controls, but neither the line limit nor the bounded handoff channel limits the downstream session queue's accumulated bytes.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Normal flushing clears pending entries and terminal completion is guarded against repetition. The inspected host final-response helper instead reconverts the last frame and sets Done; it does not unconditionally invoke the explicit finalizer. Consequently, explicit-finalizer cleanup guarantees cannot be assumed for every interrupted or malformed stream, although scanner cancellation closes the upstream body.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Define a cumulative byte and entry budget for deferred content, including raw annotations. On overflow, terminate explicitly rather than silently discarding content. Define failure and cancellation cleanup separately from successful finalization so pending state is released without manufacturing successful terminal output.
