Ground target tracking: bearing and distance to a set of coordinates #186

Open

Description

@demortes

Goal

Let a commander enter (or capture) a latitude/longitude on a body and get a live bearing, distance and arrival cue, for finding a spot seen on a map or noted earlier.

Scope

  • Targets stored per body, named, editable in a small dialog or the card; accept pasted coordinates in common formats.
  • One-click "mark current position" as a target.
  • Overlay compass strip with a target marker and distance; an optional arrival alert (sound/voice through the existing voice callout service).
  • The mining spot book could reuse targets; keep the data model shared rather than duplicated.

Acceptance criteria

  • Typed and captured targets give correct bearing/distance (verified against the position model's tests).
  • Targets persist per body and survive restarts.
  • Arrival cue triggers once within a configurable radius.
  • Works while the game is in SRV, on foot and in a ship near the surface.

Depends on the surface position model and the position-aware overlay.

Part of the epic #182.

Clean-room: see the rule on the epic. No SrvSurvey code, assets, maps or data.
