Description

Desktop project switching in the app sidebar is jittery and can spike from sub-100ms to 300-600ms during repeated switches between two projects.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open the app with at least two local git projects.
2. Keep the sidebar visible.
3. Repeatedly click between project A and project B in the sidebar.
4. Observe switch latency fluctuate significantly, with occasional large spikes.
