opencode desktop attachments not working report #50173

Description

@rafaltetzlaff-ui

Description

Summary

In the opencode desktop app, attaching files or images via the attach button in the message input does not work — the attachment always fails and a generic "failed" error message is shown. This makes it impossible to share files or screenshots with the agent from the desktop UI.

Environment

  • opencode version: 2.0.11
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26200 (win32 x64)
  • Terminal: Unavailable: desktop app (no terminal environment)
  • Shell: C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe
  • Install/channel: latest (release)
  • Active plugins: None found in config

Reproduction

  1. Open the opencode desktop app on Windows.
  2. Start (or open) a session and focus the message input.
  3. Click the attach button and select a file or image (e.g. a PNG).
  4. Observe: a generic "failed" error message is shown and the file is never attached to the message.

Expected Behavior

The selected file/image should be attached to the message input and sent with the prompt.

Actual Behavior

A generic error message appears (no specific wording/details) and the attachment is rejected. The issue reproduces consistently when using the attach button.

Additional Context

  • Reproduced via the attach button in the input; paste and drag & drop were not tested by the reporter.
  • No workaround found; the same files can be referenced manually in text, but that is not equivalent for images.
  • Happy to provide logs or a screen recording if that helps narrow it down.

Fixed in #50599 (merged to v2 as 8e62ad7). The renderer sent optional picker fields as undefined, which the main process's JSON schema codec rejected before the handler ran. The fix lands in the next desktop release after 2.0.12.

Workaround until then: drag and drop or paste from the clipboard.
