I found the solution — the CLI supports a headless email-based auth flow, no browser needed:

    Step 1 — Start email sign-in:

beeper auth email start --email your@email.com -t server

    This returns a setupRequestID.

Step 2 — Complete with the verification code received by email:

beeper auth email response --code 123456 --setup-request-id <id-from-step-1> -t server --yes

Step 3 — Device verification (if prompted):

    beeper verify -t server

Approve from another Beeper device, or use your recovery key:

    beeper verify recovery-key -t server --key "YOUR_RECOVERY_KEY"

After that the server goes to Ready state and bridges start syncing.

On a machine without a browser, sign in by email:

beeper setup --server --install --email you@example.com

It prompts for the code we email you, then starts device verification. Approve it from another Beeper device, or run beeper verify recovery-key -t server --key "<your key>". For scripts, use beeper auth email start then beeper auth email response. The full guide is in packages/cli/docs/setup.md (added in #13). Thanks @juulieen for working this out first.
