My full name is Christopher, but mostly I go by C.J. (sometimes CJ).
I'm the 2026-27 Upshot Fellow at the New York Times.
I most recently worked as a Reporting and Research Fellow at the Tow Center for Digital Journalism, where I wrote stories for the Columbia Journalism Review on AI, media, and politics, in addition to building tools for journalists.
I graduated in 2025 with a M.S. in Data Journalism at Columbia Journalism School. Before that, I worked as a data analyst at the New York Times Games team analyzing player data, and as a data scientist at Expedia building custom R packages.
