Drag-and-drop Blockly block interaction #633

Open

Description

@tracygardner

It's easy to accidentally drag blocks on mobile unintentionally. Introduce mechanism such as locking to prevent accidental drag actions. Blockly trash can doesn't work well on narrow screens, can't close it easily.

  • UX input from NLnet suggests looking into drag speed adjustments.
  • Try requiring a block to be selected before you can drag it on mobile phone sized devices
  • Trashcan flyout covers the workspace on small screens so you can't easily close it

    Require a block to be selected before it can be dragged to prevent accidental drags. Only for small mobile screens.

    Also increased drag radius to start a drag on small screens.

    Trashcan flyout no longer covers the workspace on small screens and closes cleanly:

    Drag speed / accidental drags: rather than tuning raw drag speed, we required a block to be selected before it can be dragged on phone-sized screens and increased the drag-start radius (866165e above), which addressed the accidental-drag feedback from NLnet UX.
