I fixed this same problem in my own fork a couple of days ago (to add support for pytest 6.2). I'm still waiting for this project to be revived, though... |

Although a fix exists (ftobia/pytest-ordering#76) the package is not maintained upstream anymore: ftobia/pytest-ordering#73 The only package depending on it was spyder. I removed the dependency in sr#879181
