Please confirm this pull request meets the following requirements:

Which change are you proposing?

  • Suggesting edits to an existing topic or collection
  • Curating a new topic or collection
  • Something that does not neatly fit into the binary options above

Curating a new topic or collection

  • I've formatted my changes as a new folder directory, named for the topic or collection as it appears in the URL on GitHub (e.g. https://github.com/topics/[NAME] or https://github.com/collections/[NAME])
  • My folder contains a *.png image (if applicable) and index.md
  • All required fields in my index.md conform to the Style Guide and API docs: https://github.com/github/explore/tree/main/docs

This curates the existing bitsocial topic with a clear description, official project links, and the official Bitsocial logo. The topic is already used by public Bitsocial repositories, and adding metadata should make the topic page more useful for developers discovering repositories in the Bitsocial ecosystem.

Thanks for putting this together, and for taking the time to write a thoughtful description.

For the github/explore topics catalog we're looking for topics that are already being used pretty widely across the GitHub ecosystem, with a few hundred repos tagged at minimum and active community usage. Bitsocial doesn't quite reach that threshold yet, so we're going to pass on adding it as a curated topic for now.

Two things to know:

  • You don't need a curated topic page in github/explore to start tagging your repos with bitsocial. Anyone can already add bitsocial (or any topic) as a tag on their repos directly. Once the tag gets broader adoption, we can revisit.
  • If you'd like to revisit this in the future, please feel free to open a new PR once there's a meaningful body of repos using the tag.

Closing this for now. Appreciate the contribution.
