A native macOS menu bar app that discovers, organizes, and manages all your CLI tools in one place.
Developers accumulate dozens of CLI tools over time — installed via Homebrew, npm, pip, cargo, and more. CLI Manager sits in your menu bar and gives you a unified view of every tool on your system: what's installed, where it came from, which version you're running, and whether an update is available.
- Auto-discovery — Scans 13+ package managers and your
$PATHto find every CLI tool on your system - One-click updates — Update tools directly from the app (Homebrew, npm, pnpm, yarn, bun, pip, cargo)
- Uninstall support — Remove tools you no longer need, with safety warnings for high-impact operations
- Smart categorization — Tools are automatically grouped into categories like Cloud, DevOps, Security, AI, and more
- Tool families — Related binaries (e.g. PostgreSQL's 38+ commands) are collapsed into a single entry
- Favorites — Pin your most-used tools for quick access
- Search — Full-text search across names, categories, and display names
- Update badge — See at a glance how many tools have updates available
- Live progress — Real-time scan progress with ETA and streaming update output
- Conflict detection — Spots the same CLI installed from multiple sources
