📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe change replaces Android-specific storage and shared-memory handling with caller-supplied storage roots and a generated target capability. It removes the Android runtime helper module and adds a source-tree guard for platform-specific names. ChangesPlatform Portability

Update the shipped contract for platform_root
When a mobile caller follows docs/persistent-blobs.md, it is still told that Default reads the Android native activity path automatically, even though this change removes that behavior and requires the caller to populate options.platform_root. Because this field defaults to null, such code still compiles but Android initialization can now fall through to HOME or return Unavailable, potentially misplacing or disabling saves; update the shipped documentation to describe the new input and precedence.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Accept a supplied root on iOS.
If an iOS caller supplies an absolute platform_root, this switch returns error.Unavailable before Default.init examines the root. The new mobile-root option therefore cannot provide native storage on iOS. Allow a POSIX mobile target to use a supplied root, while keeping unsupported OS defaults unavailable. Zig treats iOS as a separate OS tag. (github.com)

1. Immersive mode: delete src/android.zig and its root export. It now lives in labelle-android 0.3.0 (`immersive`), which the generated main.zig calls since the matching assembler change. 2. preview_shm: gate on a `target_features.has_posix_shm` capability the build computes from the target (Bionic has no shm_open/shm_unlink), instead of an Android ABI check in src/. 3. Storage: drop the Android platform and the engine's own ANativeActivity read. The caller supplies `platform_root` (a mobile app's internal storage). It wins over the OS user-data defaults, and only LABELLE_DATA_DIR wins over it. storage.Default has no production caller today, so nothing changes at runtime. The agnostic guard drops four entries that are now clean (android.zig, preview_shm.zig, storage/data_root.zig, storage/files.zig), from 44 to 40. Must not be released before the assembler that calls labelle-android's immersive service, or immersive projects fail to compile.
The engine no longer reads the Android activity's internal data path, so the caller supplies it as options.platform_root. Document the new input, where it sits in the resolution order, and what happens without it.

Pass target_features to direct engine compilations
When tools/hook_trace_cost.sh runs, both build_probe and the step-4 MODS array construct the engine directly with -Mengine=.../src/root.zig but do not declare or pass a target_features module. The probe instantiates Game, whose preview field reaches Preview and preview_shm.Producer, so this new import is analyzed and Zig reports that no module named target_features is available; update those direct build commands (or route them through the configured build module) so the repository's tracing benchmark remains runnable.

…e bench - storage.Default returned Unavailable on an OS with no user-data default (iOS, say) before looking at a supplied platform_root. A supplied root now works there too, checked with POSIX path rules. - tools/hook_trace_cost.sh compiles the engine directly, so it has to declare the new target_features module (host: has_posix_shm = true). The script still fails further on with a missing `animation` module, which predates this change and is out of scope here.

Honor the environment override on unsupported OSes
On targets outside Windows, macOS, and Linux (such as iOS/tvOS), initialization returns Unavailable here whenever platform_root is null, before reading LABELLE_DATA_DIR. This breaks the documented precedence where an absolute environment override is sufficient and should win over every other root source; select the POSIX fallback when either an override or platform_root is present, or read the override before this switch.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
On an OS with no user-data default, Default.init returned Unavailable unless a platform_root was supplied, so it never reached the environment override that is documented to win over every other root. Take the POSIX path when either one is present.
