Summary

API keys could not be removed from the Connect → API Keys key table. When the table replaced the rail, delete survived only inside the detail pane, behind a key name that did not read as a link, so hovering a row showed nothing to click. The table also showed only a masked prefix, so an operator could not read a key back.

  • Every row now has a delete button that is visible at rest (no hover needed, so it also works on touch). It confirms in place with Delete / Cancel, armed after the same 300 ms fuse the detail pane uses. A failed delete reports beside its own row.
  • Clicking a key loads its full value and shows a Copy button. Clicking again hides it.
  • New POST /api/keys/reveal ({ id } → { key }): only the gui-session principal may call it (the admin token gets 403), it answers Cache-Control: no-store, and it is registered as a session-only, non-mutating route. GET /api/keys still returns prefixes only.
  • A revealed value belongs to one version of a row. It is shown only while it still extends the row's current prefix, so a rotated key never displays the value it replaced, and a reveal that answers after its key was deleted is discarded.
  • 8 strings added to all 11 locales. structure/dashboard-and-usage.md and docs-site/.../guides/web-dashboard.md updated.

API key table: revealed key with Copy, trash button, and an in-row delete confirm

The screenshot is from a throwaway OPENCODEX_HOME instance; the key shown no longer exists.

Verification

  • cd gui && bun test tests/apikeys-row-actions.test.tsx tests/apikeys-actions.test.tsx tests/apikeys-workspace.test.tsx tests/apikeys-mutation-timeout.test.tsx tests/apikeys-layout.test.ts: 39 pass. The new file covers the visible row delete, the confirm fuse, cancel, row-local failure, reveal/hide/copy, a refused reveal, rotation invalidation, and a reveal resolving after delete.
  • bun test tests/server/api-keys-routes.test.ts tests/server/management-route-registry.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/structure-ssot.test.ts: 124 pass. Covers dashboard session → 200 + no-store (including after a pending rotation), admin token with forged dashboard headers → 403, unknown id → 404, and 10 malformed bodies → 400.
  • bun run typecheck, cd gui && bun x tsc -b, cd gui && bun run lint, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan: clean.
  • Manual: ran the built dashboard against a local proxy with a temporary home. Clicking a key fetched the full value through the real session path, and the trash button opened the in-row confirm.
  • The full bun run test suite was not run locally because several worktrees were running concurrently on this machine; the remaining coverage is left to CI.
  • An independent read-only review pass found two state races (rotated-key staleness, reveal after delete). Both are fixed and covered above.

Checklist

  • Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
  • Docs or release notes were updated when needed.
  • Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • View and copy an API key’s full value from its row. Revealing keys requires a signed-in dashboard session.
    • Delete keys directly from the table with confirmation. The table displays feedback when revealing, copying, or deleting a key fails.
    • API key actions are available in multiple languages.
  • Documentation
    • Updated the dashboard guide with details on revealing, copying, and deleting API keys.

The key table that replaced the rail kept delete only inside the detail
pane, behind a name that did not read as a link, so operators hovered the
row, found nothing, and concluded a key could not be removed. Every row now
has a visible delete button with an in-place two-step confirm.

Clicking a key now shows its full value with a Copy button. The value comes
from a new POST /api/keys/reveal that only a dashboard session may call and
that answers no-store; the list payload still carries prefixes only.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The API keys workspace adds per-row key reveal, copy, and deletion controls. The new POST /api/keys/reveal route returns key material only to dashboard sessions and sets Cache-Control: no-store.

Changes

API Key Workspace

Layer / File(s) Summary
Dashboard-only reveal endpoint
src/server/management/oauth-account-routes.ts, src/server/management/route-registry.ts, tests/server/*
Adds a validated reveal route that requires a dashboard session. Tests cover access restrictions, invalid requests, missing keys, and no-store responses.
Dashboard key row actions
gui/src/components/apikeys-workspace/*, gui/src/pages/ApiKeys.tsx, gui/src/styles-apikeys-workspace.css, gui/src/i18n/*.ts, gui/tests/apikeys-row-actions.test.tsx, gui/tests/fr-localization.test.ts, docs-site/src/content/docs/guides/web-dashboard.md, structure/dashboard-and-usage.md
Wires the reveal request to the key table. Rows support key reveal and copy, plus deletion with delayed confirmation. Tests cover reveal and delete states. Styling, translations, and documentation describe the controls and session restriction.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 2d794

Dashboard users can now reveal, copy, and delete API keys from the key table. Reveal is limited to signed-in dashboard sessions and is not cached. However, a revealed key stays visible until the user hides it, so an unattended dashboard can keep displaying a credential. This can merge with owner awareness or a small follow-up to auto-hide revealed keys.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 2d794

Secret retrieval is restricted to an authenticated dashboard session, with origin checks and protection against cross-site requests. However, revealed keys can remain available in an unattended browser, including after dashboard logout. The change broadens this exposure from newly issued secrets to existing keys across the configured key inventory.

Retained concerns

  • Medium · security · observed: Existing-key secrets now remain in browser state and the rendered key table without a bounded reveal lifetime or cleanup tied to dashboard logout. Switching integration tabs merely hides the mounted workspace. An observer or subsequent user of the same unlocked browser can recover previously revealed credentials without another authorized request. Persistent display already existed for newly issued keys, but this PR expands it to multiple existing configured keys.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • observed — A valid dashboard session can enumerate configured key IDs and reveal any key in the serving instance's config.apiKeys collection. The handler has no per-session ownership filter. This establishes instance-wide key scope, not a demonstrated cross-tenant escape. Management admission separately recognizes admin, session, and capability credentials rather than configured data keys.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — After an operator reveals a key, a later user of the same unlocked browser can read or copy it without another server authorization check. Hidden-tab persistence and logout without workspace cleanup extend this opportunity. This is the browser-lifetime exposure behind the retained finding, not evidence that an arbitrary remote caller can bypass endpoint authorization.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The inspected server path authenticates management requests before dispatch. GUI-session authorization requires a live session and matching server/browser origins, with CSRF validation for POST. The reveal handler independently requires the derived gui-session principal. Registry metadata is complementary; the handler is the effective reveal-specific guard.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Manual Hide removes a revealed value, and successful deletion records a tombstone before clearing it, preventing a pending reveal from restoring the deleted row's secret. Ambiguous deletion does not follow that cleanup path; retained text alone does not prove the revoked credential remains usable.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Define a bounded reveal lifetime. Clear revealed values on logout, session loss, inactivity, and workspace hiding, and invalidate pending completions so they cannot repopulate cleared state. Keep clipboard behavior explicit rather than promising revocation of values already copied outside the application.

Clear revealed API keys when the dashboard becomes inactive. ApiKeysListPanel.tsx:51 stores the full key, and lines 85–87 and 137–142 clear it only when the user hides it or successfully deletes it. ApiKeysWorkspace.tsx:529–546 mounts the panel in the overview. Clear revealed values when the document becomes hidden and after a defined inactivity interval so an unattended dashboard does not keep displaying credentials.

Exact-head evidence for 2d7946e88866da8f03a93f00d7b34f45e5e0a887: 23 checks passed (gates, test 1/4 to 4/4, structure gate, storage policy, docs site build, docker smoke, api usage, keyring ubuntu/windows, npm-global ubuntu/windows, enforce-target, hygiene, react-doctor, CodeRabbit), 8 path-filtered jobs skipped (macOS/Windows shards, desktop shell, remote helper, setup action, privacy gate; bun run privacy:scan passed locally), none failed or pending. CodeRabbit findings: two fixed in 2d7946e, one nitpick declined with reason. No outstanding maintainer objection.
