Summary

Remote Link Children can now run on Windows x64, and a Child reports two facts that let a Home-driven setup prove a request was served by the Home.

  • Windows Remote Link Child. Remote ocx calls to a Windows Child run through powershell.exe -EncodedCommand instead of a POSIX sh -c script. Arguments travel as encoded data (never interpolated), the link key stays on stdin, and ocx.exe is created inside a kill-on-close Job (PROC_THREAD_ATTRIBUTE_JOB_LIST) so dropping the SSH channel ends it. If containment cannot be established the call is refused (exit 126). Health and catalog probes on Windows use a bounded, proxy-free, non-redirecting .NET request instead of curl. The Windows resolver also finds a GOAT-managed install at %USERPROFILE%\.local\share\goat\opencodex\current\ocx.exe.
  • localCredentials in ocx status --json. {count, generation}: how many provider credentials are stored on this machine (OAuth accounts, provider API keys and keychain references, Codex accounts and native profiles; the link key is excluded), and a generation that changes on every add or remove. Writers and the status read are fenced so a concurrent write cannot produce a false zero. Both the server runtime and the Child client runtime keep the observer alive; the field is omitted, never null, when it cannot be attested.
  • link.connectionGeneration in ocx status --json. Changes on every link connection, including a recovery with the same link id and listener and a runtime restart. Child-initiated links take it from the client supervisor; Home-initiated links receive it in HMAC-proved relay-auth headers, and an answer without a valid one clears it. Omitted when unknown.

GOAT uses the two status fields to report a Child as Ready only after a real request that was provably served by the Home with no credentials on the Child.

Verification

  • Static: bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun scripts/file-size-ratchet.ts, bun run privacy:scan, bun run skill:surface:check, bun scripts/test-layout/plan.ts, git diff --check — all pass.
  • Tests are written for each behavior (new: tests/cli/local-credentials.test.ts, tests/config/local-credential-generation.test.ts, tests/clients/link-connection-generation.test.ts; extended: link ssh-argv, tunnel, readiness, enrollment, store, management routes, cleanup, join, teardown). They were not run locally; this PR relies on CI, including a workflow_dispatch lane=all run for Windows and macOS.
  • Required native gate before release: the opt-in real-OpenSSH channel-drop test (OCX_WINDOWS_OPENSSH_FIXTURE) on a disposable Windows host, plus native confirmation of the Job helper's compilation, redirected stdin/stdout and exit codes.

Two independent static reviews covered this change (C4: link auth, credential attestation, remote execution); all findings were fixed in this branch.

Checklist

  • Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
  • Docs or release notes were updated when needed (Remote Link guides in all locales, CLI lifecycle reference, structure/remote-link.md, skills surface).
  • Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults.

Made with Claude Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5) in Codex, implementation by delegated workers.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Remote Link now supports Windows x64 on both Home and Child computers. Windows requires OpenSSH Server and PowerShell; Git Bash and curl are not required. Links can be initiated from either side.
    • Child status can report local credential counts and connection-generation information when available.
  • Improvements
    • Link cleanup identifies Child platforms and provides platform-appropriate disconnect guidance.
    • Local credential inventory reflects credential changes and is omitted when a reliable count is unavailable.
  • Documentation
    • Updated Remote Link requirements, Windows setup and recovery steps, and Child status information.

Home now recognizes a Windows x64 Child through its pinned SSH host key and
drives it with encoded PowerShell commands instead of refusing it. Arguments
travel as base64 JSON data, the link key stays on stdin, and the Child's
loopback health and catalog checks use a bounded .NET request in place of
curl. The selected ocx.exe runs in a kill-on-close job so a dropped SSH
channel ends it. Link records keep the discovered platform; older records
are rediscovered under their pinned key. Docs, the ocx skill surface and
structure/remote-link.md describe the new path.
A peer that sends work through a Remote Link Child needs proof that the
Child served it with its Home's accounts over one connection. ocx status
--json now reports two additive fields, both omitted rather than null when
they cannot be proven:

- localCredentials {count, generation}: this installation's stored provider
  credentials (OAuth, API-key slots and references, Codex pool, native
  Codex auth and inactive profiles; never link or management keys). Every
  instrumented credential write advances the generation, and status
  attests only while a runtime's observer holds its OS lease, no write is
  pending and the observed file identities still match. Server and client
  runtimes share one observer helper.
- link.connectionGeneration: changes on every tunnel connect and runtime
  restart. A Child-initiated link takes it from its own supervisor; for a
  Home-initiated link the Home signs it into the relay-auth answer and the
  Child keeps the last verified value. Status reads it from the live
  Child's ready /readyz.
The Windows enrollment cases searched for a superseded "$arguments = ..."
form, so the fake SSH runner never recognized the encoded connect command
and the apply flow stopped at remote_connect_failed. The harness now reads
the $d=Read-Data '...' payload remote-windows.ts emits and takes its args.
…proves

A Child kept the last verified Home connection generation when a later
authenticated relay answer carried none or carried one with a mismatched
proof, so after reconnecting to an older Home it kept reporting the old
connection and a before/after equality check could miss the change. Every
authenticated answer now replaces the value: a bound generation records
it, anything else makes it unknown. Covers known-to-missing and
known-to-invalid.
A failed restart that rolls back builds a fresh client supervisor in the
same process, and its per-supervisor counter restarted at zero, so its
first connection could repeat the previous <runtime>:1. Both supervisors
now mint names from one process-wide sequence: the Child on every
transition into connected, the Home for every ssh child it spawns.
Covers a rebuilt Child supervisor (the rollback path) and a rebuilt Home
supervisor.
…close Job

The remote ocx.exe was started first and assigned to its Job afterwards,
with the assignment result discarded and a no-Job fallback, so it could
run uncontained. A small Add-Type helper now creates it suspended,
assigns it to the kill-on-close, silent-breakaway Job and only then
resumes it. If Add-Type, the Job, the suspended start, the assignment or
the resume fails, the child is killed before it runs and the command
exits 126; there is no uncontained fallback. The --version probe moves
into the same helper, and the encoded budget follows cmd.exe's real
8,191-character line (8,000 encoded; every 253-character alias fits).

Adds a Windows-only refusal case under Constrained Language Mode and an
opt-in case that drops a real OpenSSH channel, recorded as a required
native release gate (OCX_WINDOWS_OPENSSH_FIXTURE).
Credential tickets were taken under the config mutation lock and skipped
when it was busy. An OAuth write, which uses its own file lock, could then
land between status's scan and its final generation read, and status
attested the earlier zero. Credential publication now runs inside a
dedicated fence, the OS lock of local-credential-publication.sqlite:
writers hold it exclusively across ticket, write and close and fail if
they cannot take it; status holds it shared across both generation reads
and the scan, retries briefly while a publication holds it, and otherwise
omits localCredentials. Ticket and observer metadata move off the config
lock onto the fence. Regression: a status read started in the middle of
a real OAuth publication, while another process holds the config lock,
reports the post-write count and a new generation.
…en gone

Only keychain accounts written through the new wrapper were registered.
An installation upgraded with an existing keychain: or gcp-sa: reference
could remove the provider, fail the OS-store deletion, and attest zero
while the secret remained. The observer now seeds every OS-store account
config.json references at start and on every reconcile, config
persistence registers the references on both sides of a write before it
lands, and a keychain deletion registers its account before it is
attempted. An account leaves the registry only after a read proves it
absent. Regression covers both reference kinds, with the observer running
and with the removal made before any observer existed.
… reader

The enrollment harness still looked for an earlier "$d=Read-Data" form,
so it never recognized the encoded connect command the final builder
emits. remote-windows.ts now writes its argument line from two shared
constants and exports windowsScriptData, which reads the object back
with the same constants; the harness uses it, and a cross-platform test
checks that it round-trips both builders and rejects unrelated scripts.
With readable coordination metadata that could not be replaced, a file
publication swallowed the ticket failure and wrote anyway. An add then
remove could end with an unchanged generation and identity vector, so
status could attest the earlier zero token. Once metadata exists every
publication must persist its ticket inside the fence before its write
runs; any failure, including unreadable or unwritable metadata, aborts
it before credential bytes change. Regression: with the config home made
read-only, the publication throws before its write callback runs and the
metadata bytes stay unchanged.
…nfig save

restoreProviderKeyFromKeychain deleted OS entries before saving the
plaintext config. The verified-absent account was dropped, then the
still-saved reference registered it again (observer reseeding and config
persistence of the previous document), so removing the plaintext later
could never return the count to zero. Restore now persists the config
before it deletes; the other deletion callers remove secrets the config
never referenced or run after the removal is committed. The metadata
also keeps the accounts a read proved absent: a config reference does not
register them again, and only a new keychain write or deletion attempt
clears the mark. Regressions: restore then plaintext removal, and a
deletion while the reference is still saved followed by its removal,
with and without an observer, all end at zero.
…EAD_ATTRIBUTE_JOB_LIST

The suspended start still left a window: if the PowerShell host died, or
a step threw, between CreateProcessW and the Job assignment, the suspended
child was orphaned outside the Job and the failure path did not terminate
it through its native handle. The helper now creates ocx.exe with
PROC_THREAD_ATTRIBUTE_JOB_LIST through STARTUPINFOEX and
EXTENDED_STARTUPINFO_PRESENT, so it is a member of the kill-on-close,
silent-breakaway Job from the moment it exists. One finally block releases
the attribute list, its value buffer and the thread, process and Job
handles on every path, and terminates the child through its own handle if
anything fails after creation. Add-Type or any step failing still exits
126 without running anything.

The readable helper source (OCX_JOB_SOURCE) travels deflated and is
inflated only into Add-Type, which keeps the longest command at 6,932
encoded characters and a 253-character alias at 7,720 of 8,000. A
cross-platform test checks that the transported helper inflates back to
exactly OCX_JOB_SOURCE.

Walkthrough

Remote Link now supports Windows x64 through platform-specific PowerShell commands and HTTP probes. Child status can report local credential counts and generations, plus tunnel connection generations, when the required scans, observation, and validation succeed.

Changes: Windows Remote Link

Layer / File(s) Summary
Platform-aware remote commands
src/link/remote-platform.ts, src/link/remote-windows.ts, src/link/remote-probe.ts, src/link/ssh-argv.ts, src/link/store.ts, tests/clients/*
Platform discovery and remote command construction support POSIX and Windows. Windows uses encoded PowerShell commands, bounded executable discovery and process containment, and .NET loopback HTTP probes. Link records can store the detected platform.
Enrollment and link management
src/server/management/link-*, src/cli/link-*, tests/server/link-*.test.ts, tests/cli/cli-link-*.test.ts
Enrollment detects and records the remote platform and selects matching commands and probes. Link removal and cleanup use the recorded platform or discover it when absent. Tests cover Windows enrollment and disconnect behavior.
Remote Link guidance
docs-site/src/content/docs/*/guides/remote-link.md, src/cli/capabilities-base.ts, skills/ocx/references/01_surface_access-remote.md, structure/remote-link.md, structure/*
Guides and CLI guidance describe Windows requirements, platform detection, PowerShell execution, and disconnect instructions. Structure maps include the newly documented areas.

Child credential and connection attestations

Layer / File(s) Summary
Credential generations and publication
src/local-credentials/generation.ts, src/local-credentials/publication-fence.ts, src/local-credentials/observation-lease.ts, src/local-credentials/references.ts, src/{codex,oauth,providers,config}/*
A per-home publication fence, generation metadata, and observer leases coordinate credential changes. Credential-store writes use publication helpers, and store parsers expose credential-slot counts.
Credential inventory and status
src/local-credentials/inventory.ts, src/local-credentials/runtime-observation.ts, src/{client/runtime.ts,server/index.ts,cli/status.ts}, tests/cli/local-credentials.test.ts, tests/config/local-credential-generation.test.ts, docs-site/src/content/docs/reference/cli/lifecycle.md
Inventory scans local credential stores and returns a count and generation only when observation and publication state support a stable snapshot. Runtime lifecycle and CLI status expose available attestations.
Tunnel connection generations
src/link/relay-auth.ts, src/link/supervisor.ts, src/client/link-*, src/client/machine-listener.ts, src/server/index/link-*, src/cli/status-link.ts, tests/clients/*
Tunnel connections receive generation identifiers. Relay answers include a proof bound to the generation; the Child validates and records it, and ready status reports a valid current generation.

Explanation

The title "feat(link): Windows Remote Link Children and Child credential/connection attestation" names the two main changes in the changeset. The changeset adds Windows x64 support for Remote Link Children: PowerShell command builders, a kill-on-close Job helper, and Windows-specific probes and enrollment, as well as the Windows platform detection and the removal of the refusal path. It also adds the ocx status --json attestation fields localCredentials and link.connectionGeneration, along with the local-credential observer and connection-generation plumbing. The title is specific and accurate. It is long at 84 characters, and the conventional-commit prefix is acceptable. It covers the primary feature and the secondary attestation feature, so it passes.

P2 Badge Include the Child runtime identity in Home-initiated generations

For a Home-initiated link, restarting only the Child's OpenCodex runtime leaves the Home-owned SSH tunnel running. The new Child process initially forgets the verified connection, but its first successful preflight restores exactly the same Home-issued generation, and this callback exposes that unchanged value. Consequently, link.connectionGeneration cannot detect that runtime replacement, contrary to the explicit guarantee in docs-site/src/content/docs/reference/cli/lifecycle.md that either runtime restarting changes it. Include the Child runtime instance in the exposed generation, and add coverage for a Child restart while the Home tunnel survives.

Stale curl statement contradicts the English source.

Line 111 says Home checks Child restart support and curl before it connects. The English guide (docs-site/src/content/docs/guides/remote-link.md, line 184) now says only POSIX Children need curl. Windows Children use a bounded .NET loopback request. This PR changes that behavior but leaves the Korean text unchanged. The Korean page now tells Windows operators to install a tool they do not need.

Update the sentence to state that curl applies to POSIX Children only.

The link add details still say the preflight requires curl for every Child.

Line 39 says "Preflights bound Child restart support and curl". This PR makes the curl check POSIX-only. Windows Children use a bounded .NET loopback request, and apply skips REMOTE_CURL_PREFLIGHT there. This is the declared capability surface that agents read. It now misstates the Windows requirement.

Change the text to "curl on POSIX Children". Then run bun run skill:surface so the generated skill reference stays in sync.

Line 142 still states that apply always requires curl.

This PR changes the contract. Line 9 says Windows enrollment skips the curl preflight and uses windowsChildHttpArgv. src/server/management/link-enrollment.ts runs REMOTE_CURL_PREFLIGHT only when remotePlatform === "posix". Line 142 still says "apply requires curl" and "Curl ignores curlrc, proxies and redirects". The doc contradicts itself and the source.

Scope both statements to POSIX Children. State that Windows uses the bounded .NET request, which ignores proxies, never follows redirects and caps the body at 4 MiB.

Separately, line 7 ends with a second "Exhaustion exits 127." after the OpenSSH gate sentence. The sentence repeats the POSIX statement earlier in the paragraph and is ambiguous. Scope it to Windows or remove it.

As per coding guidelines: "A doc in this folder states the contract that holds right now, in the present tense, for one subsystem."

Remove --yes from the ordinary recovery command.

runRevoke rejects --yes unless --force is also present. This guidance omits --force, so an operator who follows it receives --yes requires --force instead of disconnecting the link.

Release the credential observer before starting a replacement.

recycleStandalone stops the listener but does not release credentialObservation. It then waits for the replacement to become healthy before exiting. The replacement can fail to claim the observer lease. observeLocalCredentials suppresses that failure, so the replacement can serve without localCredentials.

Move the observer to module state, release it in recycleStandalone before spawnReplacement, and update stopServing and shutdown to use that state.

Keep the SSH diagnostic in requireRemotePlatform errors.

Both throws in requireRemotePlatform use fixed text and drop the stderr that the runner already returns (src/link/remote-platform.ts:60 and :64). Callers read the failure cause only through sshRunnerErrorHint(error), and that function returns a hint only for SshRunnerError instances (src/link/ssh-runner.ts:63-65). For a plain Error, it returns undefined. As a result:

  • checkPlatform falls back to "ssh could not run" (src/cli/link-cleanup.ts:38).
  • The join_issue_failed path (src/client/link-join.ts:329), the enrollment probe_failed, version_probe_failed, and *_failed paths (src/server/management/link-enrollment.ts:67, :104, :196), and remote_disconnect_failed (src/server/management/link-routes.ts:230) lose the hint for host-key, authentication, and network failures.

Adding the hint to a plain Error message does not restore it. The callers never read error.message. Throw an SshRunnerError with a platform-discovery code, so that sshRunnerErrorHint recognizes it. The code union currently has no fitting value, so widen it as well.

Update both failure branches in requireRemotePlatform to throw SshRunnerError
with a platform-discovery code and include diagnostic hints derived from the
runner’s stderr, using windows.stderr for the Windows check and result.stderr
for the unknown-platform check. Extend the SshRunnerError code union to accept
that code so sshRunnerErrorHint can recognize these failures.

Preflight credential publication before consuming the rotating grant.

When coordination metadata cannot be persisted, begin() aborts the credential write. The main-account flow performs the refresh first, and the code states that a successful rotating grant retires the old refresh token. persistRefreshedMainAuthJson only handles an auth-file race; the metadata error propagates and leaves the old token on disk. The new access and refresh tokens are then lost.

claimCredentialObservation also calls loadForWrite, so startup cannot repair this state. Preflight the coordination metadata before calling refresh(...), or durably retain the refreshed credentials when publication fails.

finish runs a full synchronous rescan inside the fence on every publication. Defer the in-process reconcile.

observers.get(home)?.() calls reconcile, which calls updateCredentialObservation(home, owner, observe). In the observer process, observe (src/local-credentials/inventory.ts Line 252-261) does the following:

  • It runs scanLocalCredentials twice. Each scan reads and parses auth.json, auth.json.pre-multiauth, config.json (up to 4 MiB), codex-accounts.json, every sourceAuthPath, Codex auth.json, config.toml and the native vault.
  • It closes and re-creates every fs.watch watcher.

This work runs synchronously inside publishCredentialSync, while the publication fence is held. For persistConfigUnlocked it also runs while the config mutation lock is held. In the runtime, the trigger is every config save, every Codex pool token refresh (account-store.ts persist) and every OAuth refresh. Each one now pays two full credential scans plus a watcher reinstall on the request path. The watcher then fires for the same rename and schedules another rescan.

Deferring the reconcile is safe for the attestation. After the fence is released, local-credentials.json holds the advanced sequence and the old coverage vector. snapshotOnce therefore sees before.coverage.vector !== snapshot.vector and omits the field until the deferred reconcile lands.

♻️ Proposed refactor

+ // Off the writer's critical path: until it runs, the stale coverage vector withholds attestation.
+  const reconcile = observers.get(home);
+  if (reconcile) queueMicrotask(reconcile);
 }

If you defer the reconcile, reconcile takes the fence with waitMs = 0, so it can now meet another publication. The retry fix proposed for src/local-credentials/inventory.ts Line 264-273 is then also required.

assertParents rejects any symlinked ancestor, so attestation never works on homes reached through a symlink.

assertParents walks every ancestor up to the filesystem root. It throws "Unsafe credential parent" when any ancestor isSymbolicLink(). The paths come from these sources:

  • getConfigDir() (src/config/paths.ts Line 21-27) uses resolve(expandUserPath(raw)) or join(homedir(), ".opencodex"). It does not call realpath.
  • getCodexHome() and each sourceAuthPath behave the same way.

Symlinked ancestors are common:

  • On Fedora Silverblue, Kinoite and CoreOS, /home is a symlink to var/home.
  • Some Linux hosts relocate /home to a data volume through a symlink.
  • macOS users can point OPENCODEX_HOME or CODEX_HOME under /tmp or /var, which resolve through /private.

scanLocalCredentials throws on these hosts, so claimCredentialObservation throws. observeLocalCredentials swallows the error, and localCredentials is always omitted. The tests do not catch this case because the fixture uses realpathSync.native(mkdtempSync(...)).

The check exists to stop a credential path from being swapped under the scanner. Ancestors above the configured root do not serve that purpose. Canonicalize each root once and check only the components below it.

install (Line 225-236) needs the same change, because it calls assertParents for every watched ancestor. If you canonicalize the roots, the vector paths change. Update the observer and the status reader together. Both call scanLocalCredentials, so they stay consistent.

Update assertParents to check only path components below the applicable

Allow retained native-profile quarantine files.

A successful invalid-journal recovery renames the journal to <homeId>.journal.quarantine-<uuid>.json under rootDir. The inventory then rejects that retained file as unknown metadata, so credential attestation can remain unavailable until the quarantine file is removed.

The lock file is outside rootDir, and stagingRoot already ends with homeId. Do not change those checks. Allow only the exact generated quarantine-file pattern.

reconcile permanently stops observation after about 2 s of fence contention.

updateCredentialObservation takes the publication fence with waitMs = 0 (generation.ts Line 232). Scan failures are already caught inside updateCredentialObservation and set vector = "". So the outer catch here is reached mainly when acquire gets SQLITE_BUSY: another process holds the fence, either EXCLUSIVE during its publication or SHARED during an ocx status read.

Each busy attempt increments retries. Both the 100 ms timer and every watcher event call reconcile, so watcher events add increments too. After 21 consecutive busy results, fail() runs. fail() closes the lease and the watchers, and nothing restarts them. Attestation is then omitted for the rest of the runtime's life.

These cases trigger it on a normal Child:

  1. A cross-process publication holds the fence EXCLUSIVE while it writes. The writer creates auth.json.ocx.*, config.json.ocx.* or codex-accounts.json.ocx.* inside the fence. Those names match the regex at Line 242, so this observer calls reconcile while the writer still holds the fence. Each event fails and increments retries.
  2. publishCredentialAsync holds the fence across atomicWriteFileAsync. On Windows that call awaits hardenSecretPathAsync (icacls), which can take seconds. ocx account main switch run from the CLI is one example. Any hold longer than about 2 s exhausts the budget.
  3. GOAT polls ocx status --json frequently. Each poll holds SHARED during two generation reads and a full scan.

The comment at Line 268 says a peer "only delays this". The code makes the delay permanent instead.

Suggested correction: do not count busy results toward the failure budget, and back off instead. Reserve fail() for non-busy errors.

One failed claim at startup disables observation for the runtime's whole life.

claimCredentialObservation runs scan once. If it throws, startLocalCredentialObservation calls fail() and rethrows. observeLocalCredentials (runtime-observation.ts Line 8-11) then returns a no-op. At that point no watcher is installed and no timer is set, so nothing ever retries. These startup conditions are transient or fixable:

  • A credential write in progress in another process leaves an auth.json.ocx.*, config.json.ocx.* or codex-accounts.json.ocx.* temp file. The scan throws "Retained credential write residue" (Line 89-91).
  • Another process holds the fence. claimCredentialObservation waits up to 10 s and then throws.
  • A previous observer's process is still exiting. "Credential observer already running" is thrown. This happens in the recycle and replacement flows; see the comment on src/client/runtime.ts Line 363.
  • The user later fixes cli_auth_credentials_store, or finishes a pending native-profile journal.

This differs from the running state. After a successful claim, a later scan failure keeps the existing watchers, so fixing the source triggers reconcile again (updateCredentialObservation sets vector = ""). A failed start has no watchers, so it has no such recovery path. The Child reports no localCredentials until the next restart, and GOAT cannot mark it Ready.

The fix belongs in observeLocalCredentials. Retry the claim with backoff until the observer is stopped. The same loop also restarts observation after the fail() path in reconcile.

// src/local-credentials/runtime-observation.ts
export function observeLocalCredentials(): { stop(): void } {
  let current: { stop(): void } | undefined;
  let stopped = false;
  let timer: ReturnType<typeof setTimeout> | undefined;
  let delay = 1_000;
  const attempt = () => {
    timer = undefined;
    if (stopped) return;
    try { current = startLocalCredentialObservation(); delay = 1_000; }
    catch {
      timer = setTimeout(attempt, delay);
      (timer as { unref?: () => void }).unref?.();
      delay = Math.min(delay * 2, 60_000);
    }
  };
  attempt();
  return { stop() { stopped = true; if (timer) clearTimeout(timer); current?.stop(); current = undefined; } };
}

To recover after a later fail(), let startLocalCredentialObservation accept an onLost callback that the wrapper uses to schedule attempt().

Exact stdout match makes the first-contact probe fail on hosts whose shell prints extra output.

The old probe ran true and checked only the exit code. The new check requires result.stdout.trim() to equal "ocx-link-probe". OpenSSH runs the remote command through the login shell. A non-interactive shell can print more output to stdout. Examples are an unguarded echo in ~/.bashrc, which bash reads for SSH commands, or a PowerShell profile that writes output. Such a host exits 0 and shows a valid key, but enrollment now fails with probe_failed.

classifyRemotePlatform and parseVersion already read only the first line. Accept the marker on any complete line instead of requiring the whole output to match.

Extend the ordinary revoke test cases around `requireRemotePlatform` to include
a platformless record discovered as POSIX. Make the SSH runner simulate Windows
detection failing and POSIX `uname -s` detection succeeding for that case, then
assert the disconnect command uses the POSIX platform; preserve the existing
Windows and explicit-platform coverage.

… its stderr clean

DeflateStream(stream, 0) is ambiguous between CompressionMode and CompressionLevel in Windows PowerShell 5.1, so Add-Type never ran and every native ocx call was refused. The mode is now explicit, progress records no longer reach stderr, and the refusal still exits 126 under Constrained Language Mode. Verified by hand on a Windows 11 host: arguments and stdin arrive intact with the exit status preserved, discovery selects the Desktop ocx, and killing the PowerShell host kills the contained child.

Major · Configure the child standard handles in STARTUPINFOEX. · remote-windows.ts:61-64

src/link/remote-windows.ts:61-64
🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Configure the child standard handles in STARTUPINFOEX.

OcxJob.Run enables handle inheritance, but leaves STARTF_USESTDHANDLES, hStdInput, and hStdOutput unset. The Windows link enrollment path sends the key through SSH stdin and reads the remote result from stdout. The contained ocx.exe can therefore miss the key or fail to return its response, causing enrollment to fail or time out.

Populate the host standard handles and set STARTF_USESTDHANDLES before CreateProcessW.

Update the `OcxJob.Run` startup structure before `CreateProcessW` to enable
`STARTF_USESTDHANDLES` and populate the child’s standard input, output, and
error handles from the host. Preserve handle inheritance so the child receives
SSH stdin and its response reaches stdout.
Minor · Do not reuse a Home-initiated Ready verdict across connection changes. · link-readiness.ts:53-56

src/client/link-readiness.ts:53-56
🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Do not reuse a Home-initiated Ready verdict across connection changes.

A successful Home preflight records generation G1 and caches READY. If the Home reconnects, the cached verdict can remain valid for five seconds, while /readyz still reads and reports G1 as the current connectionGeneration. ocx status --json can therefore attest an old connection as current.

Keep the existing behavior that allows a ready Child to omit a generation when none is known. Bind a cached Home READY verdict to the proof-bound generation that produced it, and invalidate or refresh that verdict before reporting a generation that is no longer current.
