Treasure Map

Everything you need to set up a mapping project on a clean Ubuntu instance.

dependencies.sh:
  Installs PostGIS, postgreSQL and unzip
  Creates TreasureMap database and makes it geospatially enabled
  
get_data.sh:
  Connects to AEC, downloads polling place and senate voting data
  
prep_data.sh:
  Unzips the files, removes headers, runs polling_places.sql
  
polling_places.sql:
  Creates tables polling_places, senate_votes and populates with polling/voting data
  Converts latitude/longitude into a PostGIS Point geometry
  Creates table tmp_pp_distance with the distance to nearest neighbour for each polling place
