Type: Bug
I am unable to use the Codex agent in VS Code with an active GitHub Copilot Enterprise subscription because the Codex plugin does not provide a GitHub Copilot sign-in path.
When I try to authenticate the Codex extension, the only available options are:
- Sign in with ChatGPT
- Use an API key
There is no option to authenticate using my GitHub Copilot Enterprise subscription, so I cannot use the Codex agent through the subscription I already have.
Expected behavior:
The Codex agent experience in VS Code should either:
- support authentication through GitHub Copilot Enterprise when that subscription is intended to work with Codex in VS Code, or
- clearly indicate that GitHub Copilot Enterprise is not supported for this flow.
Actual behavior:
The extension only offers ChatGPT or API key authentication, which blocks use through my Copilot Enterprise subscription.
Environment:
- VS Code version: 1.111.0
- Codex extension version: 26.5313.41514
- OS: Windows 11
- Also reproduced in WSL
- Subscription: GitHub Copilot Enterprise
Steps to reproduce:
- Install the Codex extension in VS Code.
- Attempt to sign in / authenticate the extension.
- Observe that the only available auth options are ChatGPT or API key.
- Try to use Codex via an existing GitHub Copilot Enterprise subscription.
What I expected:
A GitHub Copilot authentication option, or clear product messaging that this combination is unsupported.
What I saw instead:
No GitHub Copilot sign-in option is available, so I cannot authenticate the Codex plugin with my Copilot Enterprise subscription.
Additional context:
I searched for an existing issue in this repository but did not find an exact match for this authentication path problem.
