Claude Code: Allow different models #293

Closed

Description

@Daniel15

When you add Claude Code support, can you please allow models other than Anthropic's? For example, GLM-5, Kimi K2, and Minimax M2.5 all support Claude Code by providing a different API URL and token as environment variables (ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN and ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL). Some of the models (mostly GLM-5) have been trained specifically for Claude Code and don't perform as well in OpenCode.

I imagine you could have config settings for "alternative Claude Code providers" where the keys could be entered, and the UI could show those provider's models in the list of available models.

    If T3 spawns claude and communicates via stdio/acp whatever, shouldn't that be your responsibility (ie: setting up claude to go through proxies/etc) ?

    no need to spawn two instances of Claude Code, you can just build the env you pass to the agent sdk based on the model id you select so for example if it's GLM5 set ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL and ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN to ZAI and so on
    I've been doing that in my app for a while https://github.com/Mng-dev-ai/claudex/blob/main/backend/app/services/claude_agent.py#L217

    @Mng-dev-ai Oh that's good to know then. (did not play around with claude as much as codex tbh) thank you

    i love my kimi k2.5 cli - but it would be superb to use t3.code

    This should be possible by configuring your instance under Provider settings:

    Some WIP docs here as well: https://github.com/pingdotgg/t3code/blob/main/docs/providers/claude.md. Feel free to make additions there to clarify any uncertainties

    @juliusmarminge That looks like it could work. If it's just setting the HOME environment variable then won't that break things if CLAUDE has to run scripts that use $HOME?

    In that UI in your screenshot, I think it'd be useful to add options for ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN and ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL in addition to HOME.

    OK, - that's useful. I assume you can add multiple Claude environments too. Thanks!
