2026-10-23 verification at 077c0c8aac. The terminal-event stream waits, content snapshots and hydration-failure recovery remain in the cutover integration test. The focused integration test and scoped lint/format pass. No installed-server cutover or process-kill proof was added.

Earlier validation counts, review verdicts, CI status and captures below refer to their original revisions; older “current head” wording refers to those revisions. These focused local checks do not certify the whole suite.

Problem

The v1-to-v2 cutover integration test could miss a fast terminal event (it waited by polling projections after dispatch), and it checked several preservation properties only by row count. A cutover that kept the right number of legacy recovery rows but changed their contents would still pass.

Change

Test-only, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/legacy/LegacyV1Cutover.integration.test.ts:

  • Capture the persisted event cursor before dispatch, wait on the event stream for any terminal outcome, assert it completed, and drain the effect worker before reading projections. No sleeps or projection polling.
  • Snapshot the original legacy recovery columns before migration and compare complete row contents after cutover and after restart (appended migration columns are allowed), and check the source database hash.
  • Inject a deterministic SQLite hydration write failure (a trigger), then restart a fresh runtime and prove the retry succeeds and is idempotent.
  • Bound each terminal-event stream wait to 30 seconds and report its message ID when that deadline expires. Worker drains and the global 120-second test deadline remain unchanged.

Fixtures are disposable file-backed SQLite and Git with a deterministic in-process provider adapter.

Scope and approval

Focused verification maintenance for the existing v1-to-v2 cutover, confined to one integration-test file. It changes no production behavior, product defaults, or static-analysis configuration. Macroscope approved eligibility on the current head; that automated eligibility decision does not establish manual maintainer approval or a code review.

Verification

At 71b0ef7955 on macOS, 2026-10-17:

  • vp test run apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/legacy/LegacyV1Cutover.integration.test.ts: 1 passed (1). Server package typecheck and targeted lint/formatting pass.
  • A temporary impossible message match and 10-millisecond deadline fail with No terminal run.updated for message:cutover:long:continuation. Restoring the correct match and 30-second deadline passes. This validates the failure path; it does not measure a 30-second expiration.
  • Fresh read-only GPT-6.1 Sol high review through T3 Code completed with no actionable findings on the exact published tree. This is a same-model independent review; Claude quota prevented a fresh cross-model review.
  • Verification reused the isolated checkout containing the already-published #15036 Git-checkout changes. Those do not alter orchestration or persistence. The executed cutover test matches this candidate, but the complete candidate tree was not checked out for execution.
  • Current-head CI passes. Macroscope approved eligibility at this exact head, explicitly without reviewing code objects; its correctness check was skipped. CodeRabbit confirmed the deadline repair and resolved that finding, but its broader review coverage remains at the previous integration head and its current-head status says Review rate limited. Neither status is claimed as a fresh full code review.
  • No live-provider, installed-server cutover or process-kill verification is claimed. There is no shipped UI change.

Earlier integration verification

At 3e341e6c42, integrated with upstream 70d60e03a7 on macOS, 2026-10-17:

  • Focused selection: vp test run apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/legacy/LegacyV1Cutover.integration.test.ts: 1 passed (1).
  • Targeted lint and formatting pass; package typechecks pass for apps/server.
  • Fresh read-only integration review by GPT-6.1 Sol (high), Codex through T3 Code: no remaining actionable findings for this exact tree. Claude quota prevented a new cross-model review.
  • CI passed at that integration head; Macroscope eligibility was approved without reviewing code objects. No new UI/native capture or live-provider verification was performed in this integration pass. Earlier media, measurements and fail-before results below retain their recorded revisions and limitations; they do not certify this head. Existing proof gaps remain.

Earlier verification

Head 4b6251ed0b (main dff750b1b8 merged cleanly).

  • vp test run apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/legacy/LegacyV1Cutover.integration.test.ts apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/legacy/LegacyV1ThreadImporter.test.ts: 2 files, 4 passed. vp lint on the test file: clean.
  • Coverage check (sweep validation): a same-count corruption of legacy text, applied against the merge-base importer, passes the old count-only assertions and fails this PR's exact-content assertion.
  • Not claimed: live-provider, process-kill, or installed-server cutover validation. No UI change.

Model for the original revision was not recorded. Updated and reviewed using GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol in the Codex harness through T3 Code. Merge with main and body refresh: Claude Opus 5.5 (Claude Code) via T3 Code (clean merge, no code change, so no new review round).

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at 077c0c8

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — The PR is limited to an ignored integration-test file that strengthens cutover synchronization, data-preservation, retry, and fixture-integrity checks. It does not modify production behavior, product defaults, or static-analysis configuration.

Notes:

  • No code objects were reviewed. Approvability was decided on eligibility alone.

Rebased onto current base 1ee1d046 — diff is again a single file (LegacyV1Cutover.integration.test.ts).

Note on Test Server 3: the 4 failures (thread_rollback replay fixtures, 2 ThreadFork rollback tests) are a base regression, not from this delta. 1ee1d046 now rejects checkpoint.rollback file restores in non-isolated workspaces, and those fixtures/tests still dispatch file-restoring rollbacks. Reproduced on the bare base commit locally (same fixture command IDs, same SHARED_WORKSPACE_RESTORE_MESSAGE cause). This PR's file doesn't touch checkpoint rollback.

@juliusmarminge Please review and merge this OV2 fix when you are happy with it.

Strengthen the existing V1 cutover test with event-stream waits and content checks; one test file.

Checked 18 September at 10:58 UTC: current head 3f8f4dbfad89fdbb8f0f11403999939479ea9d43 is mergeable, all checks are green or intentionally skipped, and there is no new review feedback since the owner's completed scan. Current diff: +159/−49.

The latest-head independent agent review is still pending capacity; no fresh clean review is claimed. This request is for this contribution PR. The two scheduling PRs (#11592/#11635) are being held for a separate integration finding.

This supersedes the earlier base-regression note: the existing PR has been rebased to 934da57498, its one-file scope is restored, and the new-head checks pass.

📝 Walkthrough

The integration test checks that legacy project, thread, and message rows and the seeded source database remain unchanged through migration and restart. It also tests transcript hydration failure and retry, and waits for persisted terminal run events during continuation.

Changes: Legacy V1 cutover integration test

Layer / File(s) Summary
Legacy data preservation
apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/legacy/LegacyV1Cutover.integration.test.ts
The test snapshots seeded project, thread, and message rows, then compares their original columns after migration and restart. It also checks that the source database file hash remains unchanged.
Hydration failure and retry
apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/legacy/LegacyV1Cutover.integration.test.ts
The test injects a SQLite trigger failure during transcript hydration, checks the error and pending import, then removes the trigger before retrying after restart.
Continuation completion
apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/legacy/LegacyV1Cutover.integration.test.ts
Continuation dispatch waits for a matching terminal event from the persisted event stream and asserts that its status is completed.

Independent focused proof at 71b0ef7: the unchanged cutover test passed 1/1 on exact BASE 70d60e0, then 1/1 on exact HEAD. An identical controlled SQL mutation changed one archived-message text without changing row count: BASE still passed; HEAD failed at the new preserved-row assertion, showing the changed text in its diff. This verifies assertion sensitivity, not a production migration defect.

Raw logs, exit codes, pinned source hashes and exact mutation patches (downloaded and byte-verified). Installed dependencies were reused from a different full lockfile, so this is not dependency-exact verification. It does not prove installed-server recovery or live-provider behavior. No UI change or UI evidence is involved.
