ApprovabilityVerdict: Approved at Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a narrowly scoped bug fix that extends existing repository identity resolution to self-hosted GitLab hosts and userless SCP remotes while preserving existing paths. The production changes are localized and supported by targeted tests, with no product-default, deployment, schema, or static-analysis configuration impact. 🟡 Minor · Accept a leading slash in SCP-style remotes. · GitLabSourceControlProvider.ts:101-109
packages/source-control-gitlab/src/server/GitLabSourceControlProvider.ts:101-109
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winAccept a leading slash in SCP-style remotes.
The optional-user regex still does not match
code.example.test:/team/repo.gitbecause its path group cannot start with/. The normalized fallback remainscode.example.test:/team/repo, so the canonical key keeps the colon and can produce a malformed merge-request URL. Make the user and leading slash optional while keeping the captured path slash-free.Suggested fix
- const scpStyleHostAndPath = /^[a-zA-Z0-9._-]+@([^:/\s]+):([^/\s]+(?:\/[^/\s]+)+)$/i.exec( + const scpStyleHostAndPath = /^(?:[a-zA-Z0-9._-]+@)?([^:/\s]+):\/?([^/\s]+(?:\/[^/\s]+)+)$/i.exec( normalized, );🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

🟡 Minor · Exclude Windows drive-letter paths from the fallback… · GitLabSourceControlProvider.ts:101-109
packages/source-control-gitlab/src/server/GitLabSourceControlProvider.ts:101-109
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winExclude Windows drive-letter paths from the fallback host parser.
When
glabhas an authenticated host namedc,C:/repos/projectis treated as an unknown remote for hostc. GitLab refinement then changes the repository identity togitlab, so the local path enters GitLab-specific merge-request URL generation. Keep one-character drive prefixes out of this fallback.Suggested fix
- const host = /^([^@:/]+):.+/.exec(remoteUrl.trim())?.[1]?.toLowerCase(); + const host = /^([^@:/\s]{2,}):.+/.exec(remoteUrl.trim())?.[1]?.toLowerCase();🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Problem
On a self-hosted GitLab whose host name doesn't contain "gitlab", "Link pull request" rejects
#1with "Paste a full URL; this project's host has no known pull request URL." The project'srepositoryIdentity.providerstaysunknown, so the dialog can't build a merge request URL. Full URLs work.Providers can settle an unknown identity through their
refineRepositoryIdentityhook, but GitLab had none. GitLab's discovery also matchesglab auth statushosts against the provider name, so an unknown remote has to be named by its real host to match.Change
GitLabSourceControlProvidergets arefineRepositoryIdentityhook. For anunknownidentity, it resolves the remote's context with the provider named by its host. When aglablogin for that host turns it intogitlab, the identity recordsprovider: "gitlab", and the dialog builds/-/merge_requests/NURLs through the existingchangeRequestUrlFor.host:group/project.git,host:/group/project.git) aren't detected by the shared remote parser, so the hook reads their host itself.normalizeGitRemoteUrlnow gives those remotes a host-based key (host/group/project) instead of keeping the colon, which would break the URL. A one-letter "host" is still treated as a Windows drive path.Host-name detection is unchanged. An unknown host only becomes GitLab when
glabis signed in to it, and otherwise bare numbers are still refused. Identities with a known provider are left alone. GitHub Enterprise hosts without "github" in the name are a separate case and are left out.Scope and approval
