Session Handoff [auto-3657]: #3657 Find Table Cell Boundaries Before Blanking in the Semicolon Rule #3659

Closed

Description

Next steps, in priority order

  1. Fix Find Table Cell Boundaries Before Blanking Code Spans in the Semicolon Rule #3657. rule_semicolon in .github/actions/prose-gate/prose_lint.py splits a table row into cells only after prose_lines has blanked the row's code spans and quotations, so a cell boundary inside either one is lost. Done is the rule finding a row's cell boundaries before code spans and quotations are blanked, with a test covering each case the issue names: an unescaped pipe inside a code span, and an unpaired " pairing with a quote in a later cell. The issue's repro then reports its five expected semicolon violations. Drive the pull request to develop with Closes on promotion: #3657 in its body.

    Outcome

    • Merged Find Table Cell Boundaries Before Blanking Code Spans and Quotations #3660 into develop as f55ca93. It is not yet promoted, since this run's scope is develop, and its body carries Closes on promotion: #3657.
    • Fixed Find Table Cell Boundaries Before Blanking Code Spans in the Semicolon Rule #3657. The prose gate now blanks code spans and quotations in a table row opening with a pipe one cell at a time, through the shared row_cells and by_cell helpers. That covers the semicolon, dash, dupword, spelling, and dead-path rules, since a local pass found the same defect class in each.
    • Count corrected. The issue's repro reports four semicolon violations, not the five it states. Its two named cells hold two semicolons each.
    • Filed nothing along the way. No lesson issue and no pre-existing issue.
    • Review. Four recorded local passes, with the last raising nothing. One Copilot finding on an earlier head had already been fixed in d0f758c. It was answered with that SHA and resolved.
    • Cleanup. pr_review.py cleanup 3660 exited 0. It deleted the remote and local branch and removed the worktree, and the base clone is at origin/develop.
