Release Self-Contained Prose Gate for Downstream Validation #824

Closed

Description

@ptr727

Problem

The released reusable validation task fails on a downstream pull request targeting develop.

validate-task.yml@0b07a59d7c65d07d8df275a96deaf2e06cbefd51 (2.0.352) invokes the bundled prose-gate action. That released action selects hub develop for a non-main target and downloads scripts/prose_lint.py as a standalone file.

The downloaded file is a wrapper that calls run_path() for ../.github/actions/prose-gate/prose_lint.py. That companion path is absent in the downstream checkout, so the gate fails before checking prose:

FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/home/runner/work/.github/actions/prose-gate/prose_lint.py'

Observed in ptr727/ESPHome-Config PR #100, Actions run 32194631868, job Validate sources job / Lint sources job.

Current Hub State

Hub main commit 4761973a8a391cec76e115fb910ca6eae3827fb9 changes the action to invoke $GITHUB_ACTION_PATH/prose_lint.py directly. Neither that commit nor the later validate-task change at 2d360ef is contained in the latest release tag 2.0.357.

Requested Outcome

  • Publish a hub release containing the self-contained prose-gate fix.
  • Update the no-build caller snippet and adoption documentation to the released validate-task pin.
  • Re-run the downstream resync after the released pin is available.
