A retained v2 checkpoint-proof test released a paused publisher at the same time as its reader, then required both racing operations to succeed. The post-merge macOS run correctly refused a changed file-stat snapshot, making that expectation timing-dependent.

Keep the original publisher paused while the discovered reader completes the rotation. Before release, prove the exact captured checkpoint intent, canonical bytes, epoch, anchor, link count and unchanged projection. Drain the publisher in finally, then require matching successful receipts and final cleanup. Existing mutation negatives, production code, frozen historical fixtures and crash inventory are unchanged.

Validation: the focused test passed; checkpoint review passed; required npm run check passed. The complete publication suite passed all 205 tests with zero skips. Hosted platform gates are pending. Previous merged CI failure and cancelled preview are preserved in the parent task evidence; no publication was approved from that run.

Model: GPT-6. Harness: Codex.
