Description:
Currently users can use predefined templates/presets, but there is no way to save their own frequently used configurations.

Proposed Solution:

  • Allow users to save the current editor configuration as a custom template.
  • Store templates locally using localStorage.
  • Provide a list of saved templates for quick reuse.
  • Allow users to rename and delete saved templates.

Benefits:

  • Faster workflow for repeat users.
  • Improved productivity.
  • Better user experience for content creators.

Expected Outcome:
Users can create, save, and reuse their own templates without recreating settings each time.

    Architecture notes

    Reframe is a static Next.js app with output: "export". Key points:

    • All video processing uses FFmpeg.wasm (client-side, no server)
    • headers() in next.config.ts won't work — use vercel.json instead
    • not-found.tsx requires public/404.html + vercel.json routes config

    Hi @magic-peach team,

    I'd like to work on this feature under GSSoC 2026.

    Custom template save functionality would significantly improve user workflow by allowing operators to create and reuse custom export templates. I'm ready to:

    1. Design a template storage structure (localStorage or IndexedDB)
    2. Add UI for creating, naming, and saving templates
    3. Implement template loading and application to export settings
    4. Add template management (edit/delete/duplicate)
    5. Test across different video scenarios

    Could you please assign this to me?
