Does the iOS update have an impact on location reporting for custom tag devices? #286
Description
For custom Tags, have the latest iOS versions affected the location reporting of such devices?
My phone is an iPhone 17 with iOS 26.2.1.
Currently, my device is broadcasting and has been right beside me, but it only updates its location sporadically—unless I go to a crowded area.
Is my device not reporting? It should definitely receive broadcast packets at such a close range.

Since September 27th 2025, the locations of custom tags have rarely updated. I found my iphone 8 (ios 16.7.11) no longer reports my tags' locations, even new tags with new keys. When I went to the office, my tags works again, there are a lot of iPhones in my office and maybe part of them can report tags' locations.
Maybe Apple is planning to retire old iPhones.
Or maybe there must be at least two iphones in the same place to report tags' locations now(just guess)?
