One issue I ran into when trying to tackle this is blosc is no longer very maintained, with the last package upload in December 2022: https://pypi.org/project/blosc/#history. As such I couldn't get blosc to install on Python 3.12, macOS arm64.

It looks like Python 3.12 support is being discussed: Blosc/python-blosc#325
