Gitea repositories need the same built-in PR inbox, linked-thread tracking, review, and lifecycle flow as the existing hosts. Map Gitea REST responses directly into T3’s provider models for lists, detail, summaries, activity, checks, comments, reviews and replies, diffs, reviewer/label changes, merge methods, branch updates, and close/reopen.

Read full files at immutable head and merge-base revisions, keep paths inside the selected repository, preserve pagination across server-imposed page limits, and retain native review conversations. Declare unsupported capabilities explicitly: draft/ready writes, auto-merge controls, reactions, comment editing, workflow approval, revert PRs, and host-side text search. This uses Gitea directly and requires no GitHub protocol emulation.

Validation: focused provider/transport and existing-host regression tests, server typecheck, and live adapter checks on Gitea 1.27.3 against the designated test repository. Live checks covered list/detail/summary/activity, diffs/full files, comments, labels, self-review, and close/reopen; temporary branches and labels were cleaned up. End-to-end settle-on-merge passed: T3 merged a test PR into a temporary base branch, then emitted thread.settled and an accepted server:auto-settle receipt (sequence 4) for its linked thread. The settlement event followed linking by about one second. No test merge targeted the repository’s main branch.

Final stack validation at 256fd6fe5: 228 focused tests passed, followed by 61 API/workflow cases and the final team-recovery regression; server typecheck and targeted lint passed. The live settle-on-merge E2E previously passed with fixture cleanup. Companion Gitea backend and focused integration tests passed, including native revert across all five merge styles.

Implementation: Codex (GPT-6 and GPT-5.6 Sol). Sensitive review: GPT-6 Astra. Planning/design review: Claude Fable 5.1 via Claude Code CLI.

Learning: For Gitea v1.27.3, `GET /repos/{owner}/{repo}/pulls/{index}/reviews/{id}/comments` is unpaginated. `GetPullReviewComments` calls `convert.ToPullReviewCommentList`, which returns all comments in the review conversation. Do not add client-side pagination based on response row count for this endpoint, because repeated requests return the same complete list. In `apps/server/src/pullRequest/GiteaPullRequestProvider.ts`, a `listReviews` failure is represented as truncated activity.

Stack dependency satisfied in rtvision: the combined integration includes #16's affirmative action metadata, #20's review pagination, and #23's warning-status correction.

The original PR branch is unchanged. Those fixes must accompany this feature when preparing a standalone upstream slice, since the early snapshot still has permissive defaults for missing permission metadata, single-page review comments, and warning-as-neutral checks.

Integration: a3ad93268, tree 9e13dd0812b8743ef76d4b8adca2f683317fc9e5. All original feature branches are preserved. Implementation/review: Codex (GPT-6); independent approval for the exact commit and rtvision destination: Claude Fable 5.1 through Claude CLI.

Merge verdict: NO-GO (review gates incomplete).

Head: bb83768f193c152ca34e5e8afba5b8fb2aef7d7c.

  • Codex: NO-GO for merging under the requested two-reviewer gate. Merge readiness and review history were checked; the full dual code review is incomplete, and this comment is not a code approval.
  • Fable 5.1 / Claude CLI: BLOCKED. The requested claude-fable-5-1 review was attempted, but the CLI reached its session limit before returning a completed verdict. Its reported reset is midnight America/Chicago. There is no fresh Fable GO from this pass.
  • CodeRabbit: No formal APPROVED review. The successful CodeRabbit status check does not satisfy the requested approval gate. This branch has not enabled reviews.request_changes_workflow; the existing CodeRabbit replies on this series identify that configuration as preventing formal approvals.
  • GitHub merge state: MERGEABLE / CLEAN against gitea/source-control.
  • Checks: the current rollup contains a successful CodeRabbit status only; it contains no build/test check result. No new tests or browser verification are claimed by this audit.

Confirmed code blocker in this original slice: apps/server/src/pullRequest/GiteaPullRequestApi.ts treats absent permission/merge-method metadata as permission to offer write actions, reads review comments only once, and maps warning checks to neutral. The later corrections in #16, #20, and #23 must accompany this feature; their presence in the combined integration does not change this PR head.

No merge performed. Resume the independent code reviews when Fable is available, obtain the missing/current CodeRabbit approval where applicable, and recheck the exact head and base before merging.

@coderabbitai review

The maintainer requests formal approval for the remaining PRs. Please assess the exact current head bb83768f193c152ca34e5e8afba5b8fb2aef7d7c and submit APPROVED only if your review has no remaining blockers. If there is a blocker, leave its concrete reason and the fix required instead. A successful status check alone does not meet this merge gate.

Known NO-GO reason to verify: This original slice still needs the conservative permission metadata, review-pagination, and warning-check fixes from #16, #20, and #23. Please do not approve while it remains unresolved.

If branch configuration prevents formal approval, please state that explicitly. Independent Codex/Fable code verdicts are being refreshed separately; this request does not authorize merging or bypassing their findings.

@kalvenschraut I reviewed exact head bb83768f193c152ca34e5e8afba5b8fb2aef7d7c against base gitea/source-control. I cannot approve this PR.

Blocker 1 — missing repository metadata grants write actions

apps/server/src/pullRequest/GiteaPullRequestApi.ts, Line 814, treats a missing permissions block as canWrite: true. Lines 819-825 also enable all merge and branch-update methods when their metadata is missing.

This exposes merge, branch update, reviewer, label, and thread-resolution controls without affirmative authorization metadata. The server may reject the write, but the provider must not offer the action when authorization is unknown.

Set canWrite to true only for explicit permissions.push === true or permissions.admin === true. Default merge capabilities and update methods to disabled when their corresponding repository fields are absent. Update the test at apps/server/src/pullRequest/GiteaPullRequestApi.test.ts, Line 340, to require conservative defaults.

Blocker 2 — warning checks are reported as neutral

apps/server/src/pullRequest/GiteaPullRequestApi.ts, Lines 1108-1116, maps every unrecognized status to neutral. Gitea status warning therefore becomes neutral.

Map warning to the blocking failure status used by the pull-request check model. Add a focused listChecks test for a Gitea warning status in apps/server/src/pullRequest/GiteaPullRequestApi.test.ts.

I also verified the review-comment concern using the existing Gitea v1.27.3 validation learning. GET /repos/{owner}/{repo}/pulls/{index}/reviews/{id}/comments is unpaginated and returns the complete review conversation. The single request at apps/server/src/pullRequest/GiteaPullRequestApi.ts, Lines 933-937, is correct. Do not add response-count pagination for that endpoint.

I did not request formal approval because the two blockers remain unresolved.

Merge verdict: NO-GO. This supersedes the earlier quota-only readiness comment.

Reviewed head: bb83768f193c152ca34e5e8afba5b8fb2aef7d7c; declared destination: gitea/source-control.

  • Codex: NO-GO. GiteaPullRequestApi.ts:814 grants write access when repository permissions are absent, and missing merge/update flags enable methods. Require affirmative metadata as in fix(pull-requests): require affirmative Gitea action metadata #16. The status mapper also converts native warning to neutral; carry the failure mapping/test from fix(pull-requests): match native Gitea warning status semantics #23. Correction to the earlier pagination concern: stock Gitea v1.27.3 returns the complete inline conversation from the review-comments endpoint, so a single request alone is not a defect.
  • Fable 5.1 / Claude CLI: GO, completed independent review of bb83768f193c.
  • CodeRabbit: No formal GitHub APPROVED review on this head. Approval was requested. Some bot replies say “Approved” or contain [approve], but the GitHub review records do not contain an approval; this does not pass the requested gate. The original branch configuration does not enable reviews.request_changes_workflow.

Where Fable returned GO, the concrete Codex blocker above still prevents merging. The follow-up request to reconcile findings hit the CLI session limit; no revised Fable verdict is claimed.

Validation: 339 focused integrated PR tests plus 502 cross-provider tests passed at integration head 6114cf39; the integrated server typecheck passed. These checks validate the integrated implementation, not every earlier PR snapshot. The original #12 compiler failure was reproduced separately.

No merge is authorized while any blocker or required approval is outstanding. Recheck the resulting head and current base after corrections or stack merges.

NO-GO now — downstream fixes required

Reviewed commit: bb83768f193c152ca34e5e8afba5b8fb2aef7d7c.

The standalone head has permissive write/merge capability defaults, incorrect warning-status semantics, and insufficiently bounded inline-comment reads. Fable gives conditional GO only with #16, #23, #20, and #36; Codex holds this head until those fixes are included.

Bring the permission guards, warning mapping, and shared comment budget into the candidate and re-review. #36 currently retains other blockers, so its existence alone does not clear this merge.

Validation by Codex: the exact #36 integration head 6114cf39dac017bd665908effd538e5f4f8d5764 passed 1,002 tests across 39 affected files, scoped server/web/desktop typechecks, and targeted lint (warnings, no errors). These are integration results, not a claim that this standalone head passed those checks. Fable independently reviewed source and diffs via Claude CLI; it did not run the tests.

Reviewers: Codex and Claude Fable 5.1 (Claude CLI).

@coderabbitai review

Please independently review the newly pushed fixes at ed9291396d36a3b71106512e7a44dafc2273e8c7 and submit a formal GitHub approval on this head only if no blockers remain. Otherwise report the remaining actionable findings. The maintainer requested fresh CodeRabbit approval before merging; an older approval or a green skipped-review status does not satisfy that gate. Codex and Claude Fable 5.1 are separately re-reviewing the changes, including the prior no-go findings in this PR.

@kalvenschraut I reviewed the current head ed9291396d36a3b71106512e7a44dafc2273e8c7 against base e86f3fb0f322d1d8a3540f0fc82fc805702838eb.

I found no remaining actionable blocker.

The prior permission issue is fixed. Write actions now require explicit permissions.push === true or permissions.admin === true. Merge and branch-update capabilities also require explicit affirmative repository metadata.

The prior check-status issue is fixed. Gitea warning now maps to failure.

I used the existing Gitea v1.27.3 endpoint behavior for review comments. The implementation keeps one read for an unpaginated review-comment response. It applies a shared 200-row safety budget across reviews. Focused tests cover the budget, truncation, and native unpaginated responses.

The review also checked repository and file-path traversal rejection, immutable diff-file revisions, merge head-SHA protection, bounded source-control pagination, and Gitea browser URL handling. git diff --check passed.

The pull request remains at the reviewed head. GitHub reports a clean merge state. The current configuration enables formal review workflow.

Re-review: GO on the repairs; NO-GO for merging now

Reviewed head: ed9291396d36a3b71106512e7a44dafc2273e8c7. This updates my earlier go/no-go comment for the newly pushed repairs.

Affirmative write/merge metadata, warning-to-failure mapping, and the shared inline-comment budget are now present in this standalone head. Codex, Fable, and CodeRabbit approve these repairs.

Fable 5.1: GO on the individual change.

After #4 merged, GitHub retargeted this PR to rtvision and reports DIRTY. A local merge simulation confirms conflicts in GiteaPullRequestApi.ts and GiteaPullRequestApi.test.ts. Reconcile these with the existing integration and re-review the resolved candidate before merging.

Validation by Codex: 308 focused tests across 9 files passed on integration head 73dd9c33ab15db71748beb6f0485ec212e6682f8; scoped server, web, and client-runtime typechecks passed, and targeted lint of 21 changed files passed with warnings. A separate single-worker reproduction exposed the native comment-reaction bug (100 reads and no reactions for a 50-reaction comment). These are integration results, not a claim that every standalone head passed the checks. Fable reviewed source and diffs through Claude CLI; it did not run tests.

The remaining native-stack merges must clear their predecessors and the actual target branch. CodeRabbit’s commit-specific comments are distinguished from formal GitHub review records; rate-limited requests are not approvals.

GO — merged after Codex, Fable 5.1, and CodeRabbit review.

Reviewed head: af7f1ce592d035af25bb0eb19b4c3c3694df4fb2. This supersedes my previous decision on the older head.

The repaired head is tree-identical to rtvision; the earlier base conflict is resolved and the Gitea adapter remains intact.

CodeRabbit reviewed every exact head and cleared the combined integration. Its commit-specific approval is recorded in that comment; this is not a claim of a new formal GitHub APPROVED review on each PR. All three reviewers require #26 to land with #27 or later; they merged together in the dependency batch.

Validation by Codex: 490 focused tests across 13 files passed on integration head 2e156ad621fb32b241abd4614a367aea7943d12e, including the previously failing native comment-reaction reproduction. Scoped server, web, and client-runtime typechecks passed; targeted lint of 24 changed files passed with warnings. Checks ran sequentially with one test worker. These validate the integration, not separate test runs on every component head. Fable independently reviewed source and diffs via Claude CLI.

Merged: f787a611cffccbdf0fd5e593bba8f615c607f532 at 2026-09-08T04:42:44Z. This PR merged in the 17-member Gitea batch into rtvision; the six dependency PRs followed as one reviewed batch. Final rtvision commit is 20926b20ed4ea72618f7608f70b1d4cea8e40053; its tree 9a0e0253b515456f6a117be5ebccf2cd8e911b01 exactly matches tested integration head #36.
