This PR improves the error handling in this case in the following ways: - The rpc `-verifychain` now returns false if the check can't be completed due to insufficient cache - During init, we only log a warning if the default values for `-checkblocks` and `-checklevel` are taken and the check doesn't complete. However, if the user actively specifies one of these args, we return with an InitError if we can't complete the check. This PR also changes `-verifychain` RPC to return `false` if the verification didn't finish due to missing block data (pruning) or due to being interrupted by the node being shutdown. Previously, this PR also included a fix for a possible assert during verification - this was done in bitcoin#27009 (now merged). eefe569 bugfix: Fix incorrect debug.log config file path (Ryan Ofsky) 3746f00 init: Error if ignored bitcoin.conf file is found (Ryan Ofsky) 398c371 lint: Fix lint-format-strings false positives when format specifiers have argument positions (Ryan Ofsky) Pull request description: Show an error on startup if a bitcoin datadir that is being used contains a `bitcoin.conf` file that is ignored. There are two cases where this could happen: - One case reported in [bitcoin#27246 (comment)](bitcoin#27246 (comment)) happens when a `bitcoin.conf` file in the default datadir (e.g. `$HOME/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf`) has a `datadir=/path` line that sets different datadir containing a second `bitcoin.conf` file. Currently the second `bitcoin.conf` file is ignored with no warning. - Another way this could happen is if a `-conf=` command line argument points to a configuration file with a `datadir=/path` line and that path contains a `bitcoin.conf` file, which is currently ignored. This change only adds an error message and doesn't change anything about way settings are applied. It also doesn't trigger errors if there are redundant `-datadir` or `-conf` settings pointing at the same configuration file, only if they are pointing at different files and one file is being ignored. 1b09cc5 Make post-p2sh consensus rules mandatory for tx relay (Anthony Towns) 69c31bc doc, policy: Clarify comment on STANDARD_SCRIPT_VERIFY_FLAGS (Anthony Towns) Pull request description: The `MANDATORY_SCRIPT_VERIFY_FLAGS` constant was introduced in dashpay#3843 to distinguish between block consensus rules and relay standardness rules. However it was not actually used in the consensus code path: instead it only differentiates between the failure being reported as `TX_CONSENSUS` and `mandatory-script-verify-flag-failed` vs `TX_NOT_STANDARD` and `non-mandatory-script-verify-flag`. This updates the list of mandatory flags to include the post-p2sh soft forks that are enforced as consensus rules via `GetBlockScriptFlags()`. The effect of this change is that validation.cpp will report `TX_CONSENSUS` failures for txs that fail dersig/csv/cltv/nulldummy/witness/taproot checks, instead of `TX_NOT_STANDARD`, which in turn adds `Misbehaving(100)` via `MaybePunishNodeForTx` in `net_processing`. …hen verification was interrupted. c5825e1 doc: add explanation for fail_on_insufficient_dbcache (Ryan Ofsky) 7dff7da init: Return more fitting ChainStateLoadStatus if verification was interrupted (Martin Zumsande) Pull request description: This addresses two outstanding comments by ryanofsky from bitcoin#25574: * return `ChainstateLoadStatus::INTERRUPTED` instead of `ChainstateLoadStatus::SUCCESS` if verification was stopped by an interrupt. This would coincide with straightforward expectation, and it avoids a misleading [log entry](https://github.com/mzumsande/bitcoin/blob/c5825e14f8999a8c5f5121027af9e07ac51ab42e/src/init.cpp#L1526) in `init` for the block index load time (because that would include the verificiation, which didn't complete). It shouldn't affect node behavior otherwise because the shutdown signal would be caught in init anyway. In test, this would lead to an assert ([link](https://github.com/mzumsande/bitcoin/blob/c5825e14f8999a8c5f5121027af9e07ac51ab42e/src/test/util/setup_common.cpp#L230)), which also makes more sense because benign interrupts are not expected there during init. This can be tested by setting a large value for `-checkblocks`, interrupting the node during block verification and observing the log. bitcoin#25574 (comment) * add documentation for `require_full_verification` bitcoin#25574 (comment) ACKs for top commit: MarcoFalke: thanks lgtm ACK c5825e1 Tree-SHA512: ca1c71a1b046d30083337dd9ef6d52e66fa1ac8c4ecd807716e4aa6a894179a81df41caee916fa30997fd6e0b284412a3c8f2919d19c29d826fb580ffb89fd73 Co-authored-by: fanquake <fanquake@gmail.com>

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Accept the qt category-specific log level.
-loglevel=qt:debug is valid because BCLog::QT is a registered category. Its colon is at index 2, but the parser only searches from index 3. The setting enters the global-level branch and now stops startup at this return.
Detect ':' at any index before selecting the global-level branch.

Count every dynamic width and precision argument.
re.match() captures only the first * in a specifier. For %*.*f, this function returns 2, but the call requires width, precision, and value arguments. The lint then reports a false mismatch for valid format calls.

Backport sweep of 8 upstream PRs is faithful with no build-breaking Dash conflicts. Three in-scope issues remain: -loglevel=qt:debug is misparsed as a global level and now aborts startup, the backported format-string lint miscounts %*.*f, and the 28113 release note names a descriptorprocesspsbt RPC Dash never had.

In `src/init/common.cpp`:
- [SUGGESTION] src/init/common.cpp:63: -loglevel=qt:debug aborts startup because the ':' search starts at index 3
level_str.find_first_of(':', 3) treats any category shorter than 3 chars as a global level. 'qt' is a registered Dash category (BCLog::QT in src/logging.h, src/logging.cpp:172 {BCLog::QT, "qt"}), and 'qt:debug' has its only ':' at index 2, so it enters the global-level branch, SetLogLevel("qt:debug") fails, and the new util::Error return turns a valid per-category configuration into a hard startup failure. The misparse predates this PR but this backport escalates it from a missed warning to a fatal error, and the PR's stated goal is that invalid logging config raises an error — so misclassifying a valid documented config as invalid is in scope. All other Dash categories are longer than 2 chars and unaffected.
In `test/lint/run-lint-format-strings.py`:
- [NITPICK] test/lint/run-lint-format-strings.py:268-272: Only the first dynamic width/precision '*' per specifier is counted
re.match(r"(?:.*?(\*(?:(\d+)\$)?)|)", m.group(1)) captures only the first '*' in a specifier. For '%*.*f' the function returns 2 (value + first star) but the call consumes 3 arguments (width, precision, value), so the lint would report a false mismatch for a valid format call. Executing the new logic confirms count_format_specifiers('%*.*f') == 2 while two-star handling requires 3; the added doctests only cover single-star cases ('%*d', '%5$*7$d'). The logic is 1:1 with upstream and no current tree string uses two unpositioned stars, so CI does not fail today — flagged only because the flawed logic is introduced by this PR's lint rewrite.
In `doc/release-notes-28113.md`:
- [NITPICK] doc/release-notes-28113.md:5: Release note names descriptorprocesspsbt, an RPC that does not exist in Dash
The adapted release note states that 'descriptorprocesspsbt' now returns RPC_INVALID_PARAMETER for malformed sighashtype. Dash Core has no descriptorprocesspsbt RPC (no hits under src/; the affected sighashtype callsites are signrawtransactionwithkey, signrawtransactionwithwallet, walletprocesspsbt via the shared SignTransaction path). The behavior change itself is correctly backported; only the release-note sentence lists a command Dash never had, which will confuse release-note readers. Adapt the list to the RPCs that actually exhibit the change.

All other Dash categories are longer than 2 chars and unaffected.

💬 Nitpick: Only the first dynamic width/precision '*' per specifier is counted
re.match(r"(?:.?(*(?:(\d+)$)?)|)", m.group(1)) captures only the first '' in a specifier. For '%*.f' the function returns 2 (value + first star) but the call consumes 3 arguments (width, precision, value), so the lint would report a false mismatch for a valid format call. Executing the new logic confirms count_format_specifiers('%.*f') == 2 while two-star handling requires 3; the added doctests only cover single-star cases ('%*d', '%5$*7$d'). The logic is 1:1 with upstream and no current tree string uses two unpositioned stars, so CI does not fail today — flagged only because the flawed logic is introduced by this PR's lint rewrite.

💬 Nitpick: Release note names descriptorprocesspsbt, an RPC that does not exist in Dash

Struct literals must set it. - `LlmqType` gains `LlmqNone` for code `0xff`. The code previously decoded to `LlmqType::Unknown(255)`, exhaustive matches must handle the new variant. ### Removed - `Network::genesis()`. Build the block with `Block::from(&network.chain().genesis)` from `dash-primitives`. - `ChainParams::require_standard`. - Dependency on `dash-primitives` and `dash-script`, now becoming dependents for them. The `portable` feature has been dropped as a result of this inversion. Affecting `dash-primitives`: ### Removed - `LlmqType`, superseded by `dash_params::LlmqType`. Affecting `dash-script`: ### Removed - `AddrParams`, superseded by `dash_params::AddrParams`. ## How Has This Been Tested? ``` just test lint ``` ## Checklist - [x] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [x] I have commented my code, particularly in hard-to-understand areas - [x] I have added or updated relevant unit/integration/functional tests - [ ] I have made corresponding changes to the documentation - [x] I did not use agentic assistance (i.e. LLMs, AI) except as [disclosed](#agent-disclosure) and can answer questions, comments and concerns without said assistance. Issue being fixed or feature implemented
Release of Dash Core v24 is soon, the merging PRs with breaking changes will be blocked awhile, until branch for v25 won't be split with v24 and usually it takes months.
What was done?
This PR contains multiple backports with breaking changes from Bitcoin Core v25-v27, part I
How Has This Been Tested?
Run unit & functional tests
Breaking Changes
Configuration
dashdanddash-qtwill now raise an error on startup if a datadir that is being used contains a dash.conf file that will be ignored, which can happen when a datadir= line is used in a dash.conf file. The error message is just a diagnostic intended to prevent accidental misconfiguration, and it can be disabled to restore the previous behavior of using the datadir while ignoring the dash.conf contained in it.Updated settings
If the
-checkblocksor-checkleveloptions are explicitly provided by theuser, but the verification checks cannot be completed due to an insufficient
dbcache, Dash Core will now return an error at startup. (bitcoin#25574)
-debug,-debugexclude, or-loglevellogging configurationoption now raises an error, rather than logging an easily missed warning. (Raise on invalid -debug and -loglevel config options bitcoin/bitcoin#27632)
RPC
The
-verifychainRPC will now returnfalseif the checks didn't fail, but couldn't be completed at the desired depth and level. This could be due
to missing data while pruning, due to an insufficient dbcache or due to
the node being shutdown before the call could finish. (bitcoin#25574)
RPC Wallet
signrawtransactionwithkey, signrawtransactionwithwallet, walletprocesspsbtanddescriptorprocesspsbtcalls now return the morespecific RPC_INVALID_PARAMETER error instead of RPC_MISC_ERROR if their
sighashtype argument is malformed.
Tests
for relay and mempool acceptance. The previous behaviour can be
re-enabled by setting
-acceptnonstdtxn=1. (test: default acceptnonstdtxn=0 on all chains bitcoin/bitcoin#28354)Consensus
