feat(drive-abci)!: check the IdentityCreate identity id in basic structure (PV15) - #5770
Follow-ups from the review of #5431, tracked in #5442:
The IdentityCreate identity-id check reads only the transition, so it belongs in basic structure validation, not in advanced structure after the asset lock is verified. The separate early copy in check_tx then has to go.
That local helper duplicated the shared one. The early check_tx copy derived the identity id a second time on the check_tx path, which hashes the asset lock transaction again.
Protocol version 14 has since shipped (5.0.0) and testnet runs it, so the move happens at protocol version 15 only. Protocol version 15 is unreleased and not active on any network.
What was done?
Item 1: identity id checked in basic structure from protocol version 15
New identity_create basic structure v1: v0, then the identity id must be the one the asset lock's outpoint derives. A mismatch is InvalidIdentifierError, refused without a fee. v0 has already checked the asset lock proof's structure, so the outpoint exists.
New identity_create advanced structure v2: v1 without the identity id check.
Unchanged from v1: key structure failures are still charged, and key proof-of-possession failures are still refused unpaid.
v2 still adds the DoubleSha256(1) that v1 charged for deriving the identity id (5,100 credits). Basic structure has no execution context. So every fee at protocol version 15 equals protocol version 14, for a valid create and for a charged failure alike.
Only DRIVE_ABCI_VALIDATION_VERSIONS_V11 (protocol version 15) selects them: basic_structure: Some(1), advanced_structure: Some(2). Protocol versions 1–14 keep basic structure 0 and advanced structure 0 (PV1–13) or 1 (PV14). Their code is byte-identical.
What changes in a block at protocol version 15:
A wrong identity id is refused before the asset lock proof is verified.
So a transition with a wrong identity id and an asset lock that is spent or whose proof does not verify is refused for its identity id rather than for its asset lock. An asset lock proof with an invalid structure is still refused first, for its structure (basic structure 1 runs basic structure 0 first).
Every IdentityCreate transform failure is unpaid (none returns an action), so this changes only which unpaid error is reported. Unpaid transitions never enter a committed block.
check_tx no longer has an identity-id check of its own, at any protocol version. It does not read the validation tables to work out which generation already makes the check.
Protocol version 15: basic structure v1 refuses a wrong id. check_tx runs basic structure before the only transform that verifies the asset lock, so the id is still refused before any asset-lock work.
Protocol versions 1–14: check_tx still refuses a wrong id. Advanced structure v0/v1 now refuses it, after the transform has verified the asset lock proof. See "In-place changes to shipped generations" for what that costs.
The identity id is derived once on the check_tx path at every protocol version: in basic structure (PV15) or in advanced structure (PV1–14). Before, the early copy derived it once more, and deriving it hashes the asset lock transaction.
The validation pipeline chapter of the book says where the identity id is checked per protocol version. It no longer describes a separate check_tx check.
The doc of requires_advanced_structure_validation_with_state_on_check_tx now says advanced structure checks the identity id only up to protocol version 14.
Item 2: re-signed with a higher user_fee_increase after a charged failure
The shared assertion assert_created_re_signed_with_a_higher_user_fee_increase_after_a_charge checks, after a charge:
the asset lock is partially consumed by exactly the charge;
the same signed bytes are an unpaid IdentityAssetLockStateTransitionReplayError;
the same keys re-signed with user_fee_increase 1 create the identity;
the new identity's balance is the asset lock's remaining value minus that create's fees;
the asset lock is then fully consumed.
It runs in two tests:
should_charge_the_asset_lock_for_an_identity_id_or_key_proof_fault_before_protocol_version_14 (protocol versions 1 and 13, every fault) now continues with that assertion. This is the original scenario, guarding the frozen advanced structure v0.
New should_create_the_identity_re_signed_with_a_higher_user_fee_increase_after_a_charged_failure (latest version). A key bound to a user contract that is not in state is charged by state validation (DataContractNotPresentError). After the contract is applied, the same assertion runs.
registration_proved_by takes a user_fee_increase, and Keys gains WithAKeyBoundToContract.
Items 3 and 4: credit conservation, duplicate helper
The module's process_block now delegates to the shared process_state_transitions_with_results. That runs the block-end fee distribution and the sum-tree check, so a credit imbalance fails the test. This replaces the duplicated processing body.
Charged amounts are read from each result's actual_fees.
CHECK_TX_PROTOCOL_VERSIONS adds protocol version 14: the last version whose advanced structure checks the identity id, after the asset lock proof.
Selected by: protocol versions 1–15 (state_transition_to_execution_event_for_check_tx is 0 in every validation table).
Why consensus is not affected:
check_tx is node-local: it decides mempool admission only. Block execution, prepare_proposal and process_proposal never call it.
A block still refuses a wrong identity id at every protocol version: advanced structure v0 (PV1–13, charged) or v1 (PV14, unpaid), or basic structure v1 (PV15, unpaid). None of these is touched.
What changes in check_tx at protocol versions 1–14 (admission itself does not change, a wrong id is still refused):
The refusal now comes from advanced structure, after the transform has verified the asset lock proof. Before, the id was compared first.
Once the asset lock is spent, the refusal names the spent asset lock (IdentityAssetLockTransactionOutPointAlreadyConsumedError) instead of InvalidIdentifierError.
At protocol version 15 nothing changes: basic structure v1 makes the same comparison, with the same error, before any asset-lock work.
DRIVE_ABCI_VALIDATION_VERSIONS_V11
Change: identity_create_state_transition gets basic_structure: Some(1) and advanced_structure: Some(2).
Selected by: PLATFORM_V15 only.
Why consensus is not affected for any shipped version: protocol version 15 is in no release, and neither testnet (protocol 14, Drive 5.0.1) nor mainnet (protocol 13, Drive 4.1.2) runs it. So its table is amended in place. DRIVE_ABCI_VALIDATION_VERSIONS_V10 and every other table are untouched.
No other shipped vN module is edited: basic structure v0 and advanced structure v0 and v1 are untouched.
How Has This Been Tested?
Red → green and mutation checks, cargo test -p drive-abci --lib in the CI profile (RUST_MIN_STACK=4194304 CARGO_PROFILE_DEV_DEBUG=0 CARGO_PROFILE_DEV_CODEGEN_UNITS=256, --all-features --locked):
Item 1, should_refuse_a_wrong_identity_id_before_verifying_the_asset_lock_from_protocol_version_15. It runs at protocol versions 14 and latest: create the identity, then a block with the same transition carrying a wrong identity id.
✖ before the change: at protocol version 15 the block reported IdentityAssetLockTransactionOutPointAlreadyConsumedError.
✔ after: it reports InvalidIdentifierError. Protocol version 14 still reports the spent asset lock (pinned).
Mutation: advanced structure v2 without DoubleSha256(1). Five fee-pinned tests at the latest version fail, each 5,100 credits off: test_identity_create_validation_latest_protocol_version (1914580 → 1909480) and the four asset-lock reuse and replay tests (10080700 → 10075600).
check_tx early copy removed at every version.
The previous should_refuse_at_check_tx_an_identity_create_whose_identity_id_does_not_match_its_asset_lock fails against the removal: at protocol version 1, once the asset lock is spent, check_tx reports IdentityAssetLockTransactionOutPointAlreadyConsumedError instead of the identity id.
The test now asserts, at every version, that a wrong id is refused with InvalidIdentifierError while the asset lock is unspent. Once it is spent, it asserts only that the transition is refused at protocol versions 1–14; at protocol version 15 it still asserts InvalidIdentifierError.
Mutation: basic structure v1 without the identity id check. Three tests fail (rerun after the check_tx removal). Nothing then checks the identity id at protocol version 15, so a wrong-id identity create is admitted and executed:
the check_tx identity-id test (check_tx admits it at protocol version 15).
Item 2, mutation: the asset lock replay check disabled (verify_is_not_spent v0). Both retry tests fail: the same signed bytes are executed instead of refused.
Item 3, mutation: PartiallyUseAssetLockAction adds one credit too many to the system credits.
With the new process_block, all four charged tests fail with CorruptedCreditsNotBalanced ... off by 1.
With the old local process_block (the test module as on v5.1-dev), the same three charged tests that existed there pass. The leak went unnoticed.
The two failures were the asset lock proof structure tests in processor/traits/basic_structure.rs. Their IdentityCreate fixture carried an all-zero identity id, which basic structure v1 now refuses at protocol version 15.
The fixture now uses the identity id its asset lock derives (second commit). The full cargo test -p drive-abci --all-features --locked --lib rerun on that tree: 4702 passed, 0 failed, 17 ignored.
After removing the check_tx early check (fa34807), in the CI env:
cargo test -p drive-abci --all-features --locked for every other integration target (document_outcome, document_query_signature, document_query_signed_version, identity_discovery, masternode_vote_proof, nonunique_merged_proof, older_node_answers, protobuf_request_errors, protocol_gate, query_request_errors, voting_default_limits): all passed.
cargo clippy -p drive-abci -p platform-version --all-targets --all-features --locked -- --no-deps -D warnings: clean. Rerun for drive-abci after fa34807: clean.
cargo fmt --all -- --check: clean, also after fa34807.
After merging v5.1-dev (e7fdfac, conflict only in the v15.rs note numbering): clippy for drive-abci and platform-version clean, fmt clean, cargo test -p drive-abci --lib -- identity_create check_tx voter 361 passed, 0 failed, 1 ignored, platform-version 30 passed.
Breaking Changes
Consensus at protocol version 15 (unreleased) only:
An IdentityCreate whose identity id is not the one its asset lock derives is refused in basic structure, before its asset lock proof is verified.
When its asset lock is also spent or its proof does not verify, the block reports InvalidIdentifierError instead of the asset lock error; an asset lock proof with an invalid structure is still reported for its structure. It is refused unpaid either way.
Fees are unchanged. Consensus at protocol versions 1–14 is unchanged.
Not consensus: at protocol versions 1–14 check_tx still refuses a wrong identity id, but after verifying the asset lock proof. If the asset lock is also spent, check_tx now returns IdentityAssetLockTransactionOutPointAlreadyConsumedError instead of InvalidIdentifierError.

Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
From protocol version 15, identity creation checks that the identity ID matches the asset-lock proof before verifying the proof. A mismatch is refused without a fee, including when the proof is invalid or already spent.
Protocol version 14 retains its existing validation order and spent-asset-lock handling.
Invalid key structures continue to incur the applicable charge, while proof-of-possession failures are refused without a fee.
…ck tests and retry with a higher user fee increase
The IdentityCreate block tests added in #5431 ran through a local
process_block that skipped the block-end fee distribution, so nothing
checked that credits balance. That helper now delegates to the shared
process_state_transitions_with_results, whose block-end sum-tree check
fails the test on a credit imbalance, which also removes the duplicated
block-processing body. Charged amounts are read from each result's
actual fees.
#5431 also rewrote the only test where, after a charged IdentityCreate
failure, the same keys re-signed with a higher user_fee_increase
succeed, since its failure is unpaid from protocol version 14. A shared
assertion now checks, after a charge: the asset lock is partially
consumed by exactly the charge, the same signed bytes are an unpaid
replay, and the same keys re-signed with user_fee_increase 1 create the
identity with the asset lock's remaining value minus that create's
fees. It runs at protocol versions 1 and 13 after each identity id or
key proof fault (advanced structure v0 charges them), and at the
latest version after a key bound to a user contract not yet in state,
which state validation charges.
Mutation checks (no production change in this commit):
- PartiallyUseAssetLockAction adding one credit too many to the system
credits: the four charged tests fail with CorruptedCreditsNotBalanced
(off by 1); with the old local process_block the same leak passed.
- The asset lock replay check disabled: both retry tests fail, the
same signed bytes being executed instead of refused.

…cture (PV15)
The identity-id check of an IdentityCreate reads only the transition,
yet advanced structure made it after the asset lock proof was verified,
and check_tx kept a separate early copy to refuse a wrong id before that
verification. Protocol version 14 has shipped, so the move is made at
protocol version 15 only:
- identity_create basic structure v1: v0, then the identity id must be
the one the asset lock's outpoint derives (InvalidIdentifierError,
refused without a fee).
- identity_create advanced structure v2: v1 without the identity id
check. It still adds the DoubleSha256(1) v1 charged for deriving the
id (basic structure has no execution context), so every fee at
protocol version 15 equals protocol version 14.
- DRIVE_ABCI_VALIDATION_VERSIONS_V11 (PLATFORM_V15 only, unreleased and
active nowhere) selects them in place. Protocol versions 1-14 keep
basic structure 0 and advanced structure 0/1, byte-identical.
In a block at protocol version 15, a wrong identity id is refused before
the asset lock proof is verified, so one that also has a spent or
invalid asset lock reports InvalidIdentifierError instead of the asset
lock error. Every IdentityCreate transform failure is unpaid, so only
the reported unpaid error changes.
check_tx keeps its early identity-id check only while the selected
basic structure is generation 0 (protocol versions 1-14), so shipped
versions keep their admission and refusal cost. From protocol version
15 basic structure makes the same comparison at the same point, before
any asset lock work, and the asset lock transaction is no longer hashed
once more for it.
Test would have caught this in CI: should_refuse_a_wrong_identity_id_
before_verifying_the_asset_lock_from_protocol_version_15 ✖ before (a
block at protocol version 15 reported
IdentityAssetLockTransactionOutPointAlreadyConsumedError), ✔ after;
protocol version 14 still reports the spent asset lock. Mutations:
dropping DoubleSha256(1) from v2 fails five fee-pinned latest-version
tests by 5,100 credits; dropping check_tx's early check at every version
fails the check_tx identity-id test on a shipped version; removing the
check from basic structure v1 fails three tests.
The asset lock proof structure tests now give their IdentityCreate the
identity id its asset lock derives.
Closes#5442
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
IdentityCreate validation now checks the asset-lock-derived identity ID during basic structure validation for the newer protocol version. Advanced structure uses version 2 for key and signature checks. CheckTx no longer performs a separate identity-ID comparison, and tests cover version-specific outcomes and fee handling.
Basic-structure version 1 compares the transition identity ID with the ID derived from the asset-lock proof. The newer protocol configuration and documentation place this check before asset-lock proof verification.
Advanced-structure version 2 packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/validation/state_transition/state_transitions/identity_create/advanced_structure/*, packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/validation/state_transition/state_transitions/identity_create/mod.rs, packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/validation/state_transition/processor/traits/advanced_structure_with_state.rs, packages/rs-platform-version/src/version/drive_abci_versions/drive_abci_validation_versions/v11.rs
Version 2 checks public-key structure and signatures. Key-structure failures return a charged action; signature failures return errors without an action.
CheckTx behavior and execution coverage packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/validation/state_transition/check_tx_verification/v0/mod.rs, packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/validation/state_transition/state_transitions/identity_create/mod.rs
CheckTx no longer compares the identity ID with the ID derived from the proof. Tests cover version-specific error ordering, charged and unpaid failures, replay, fee increases, and contract-bound keys.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Directly linked issue #5442 has four coding requirements. All four are present at reviewed head fa34807, judged from the whole-PR diff (base 1607f3a) and the focused inspections.
[#5442] Move the identity-id check into a basic-structure version and drop the check_tx copy:
New identity_create/basic_structure/v1/mod.rs runs v0, then compares asset_lock_proof().create_identifier() with identity_id(). A mismatch returns InvalidIdentifierError. This check reads only the transition.
check_tx_verification/v0/mod.rs diff removes the early IdentityCreate identifier comparison and its now-unused imports. No check_tx identity-id copy remains at head.
PV15 selects basic structure v1 and advanced structure v2 in the validation table. PV1-14 keep their existing advanced-structure identity-id checks.
[#5442] Restore the re-signed-with-higher-user_fee_increase test after a charged failure:
The PR summary describes the shared assertion assert_created_re_signed_with_a_higher_user_fee_increase_after_a_charge. It runs in the restored PV1/PV13 test and in a new latest-version test for a key bound to a contract that is not in state. The summary covers both tests, so I did not read the test bodies.
[#5442] Add credit-conservation checking to the IdentityCreate block tests:
The module's process_block now delegates to the shared process_state_transitions_with_results, which runs block-end fee distribution and the sum-tree check. This is described in the PR summary, and the mutation results cited in the PR description support it.
[#5442] Remove duplicated helpers and the redundant asset-lock hashing on the check_tx path:
The local process_block body is removed in favour of the shared helper.
The check_tx copy is removed, so the asset-lock outpoint is not hashed a second time on that path.
The change to processor/traits/basic_structure.rs is inside mod tests. It only sets the fixture's identity_id to the derived id, so it does not change production behaviour.
Note on PR text: the PR description says check_tx no longer has its own identity-id check at any protocol version, which matches the diff. The PR objectives summary says the description keeps the check_tx copy for PV1-14. That summary is inaccurate. The code matches issue #5442.
Residual uncertainty: the test bodies and the v11/v15 table edits were judged from the PR summary and description, not from a full read. No contrary evidence was found.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
Each changed area traces to an issue #5442 requirement or to a supporting change for one.
check_tx_verification v0: removes the early identity-id copy and its unused imports. This is requirement 1 and the redundant hashing in requirement 4.
identity_create basic_structure v1 and mod.rs: the new identity-id check, required by requirement 1.
identity_create advanced_structure v2 and mod.rs: the PV15 advanced structure without the identity-id check. It keeps the derivation charge and the key-structure and proof-of-possession handling. This is needed so the identity-id check is not duplicated at PV15.
identity_create mod.rs: version dispatch for v1 and v2, plus the tests for requirements 2 and 3.
DRIVE_ABCI_VALIDATION_VERSIONS_V11 (v11.rs) and v15.rs: select the new versions at PV15 only. The v15 change is a doc note. PV1-14 tables are not changed.
processor/traits/basic_structure.rs: a test-only fixture fix that the new v1 check requires.
book validation-pipeline chapter and the advanced_structure_with_state.rs doc comment: documentation of the new per-version check location. They describe the same change.
No change was found that is unrelated to #5442. The PV1-14 check_tx refusal now comes after asset-lock verification. That follows from removing the early copy, which the issue requests. The PR description discloses this trade-off.

Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
Verified the combined reviewer evidence against head 51b4943. The PV15 dispatch preserves historical validation and fee accounting, and the regression tests exercise retry, replay, and credit-conservation behavior; one nonblocking ownership issue remains in the relocated pure-data check. This was a static review: current code checks pass, including Rust workspace and wasm32 tests, with only PR Hygiene pending.
Triage: critical by gpt-6.1-sol (effort low) — The coordinated changes to identity_create/basic_structure/v1, advanced_structure/v2, and check_tx_verification/v0 alter consensus-facing validation order and fee accounting through protocol-version-dependent dispatch, making the production change intricate as well as critical.
These findings are from an automated code review. Verify each finding against the current code and only fix it if needed.
In `packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/validation/state_transition/state_transitions/identity_create/basic_structure/v1/mod.rs`:
- [SUGGESTION] packages/rs-drive-abci/src/execution/validation/state_transition/state_transitions/identity_create/basic_structure/v1/mod.rs:38-44: Expose the pure identity-id invariant from DPP
The relocated comparison and consensus-error construction use only the transition, but remain private to drive-abci. The book's "Where code goes" and "Where a check belongs" sections assign pure-data invariants to rs-dpp; DPP-only consumers cannot reuse this check, and StateTransition::validate_structure still returns UnsupportedFeatureError for IdentityCreate. Move the invariant into a versioned, reusable DPP helper and delegate to it here after the existing v0 checks, following the delegation pattern used by IdentityCreateFromAddresses basic structure. Keep pipeline-stage selection and execution-context fee attribution in drive-abci, and preserve shipped generations. The node paths enforce the invariant correctly today, so this is nonblocking.
…d check
check_tx compared an IdentityCreate's identity id with the one its asset
lock derives before verifying the asset lock proof, and the previous
commit kept that comparison only while the selected identity create
basic structure was generation 0. check_tx should not read validation
tables to decide whether to repeat a check another generation already
makes, so the early comparison is removed at every protocol version.
- Protocol version 15: identity create basic structure v1, which check_tx
runs before any asset lock work, still refuses a wrong identity id
first. Nothing changes.
- Protocol versions 1-14: check_tx still refuses a wrong identity id.
Advanced structure v0/v1 now refuses it, after the transform has
verified the asset lock proof (about 0.6 ms for an instant lock's BLS
signature, or Core's transaction lookup for a chain asset lock). Once
the asset lock is spent, the refusal names the spent asset lock
(IdentityAssetLockTransactionOutPointAlreadyConsumedError) instead of
InvalidIdentifierError.
check_tx only decides mempool admission. Block execution,
prepare_proposal and process_proposal never call it, so consensus is
unchanged. A block refuses a wrong identity id at every protocol version
through advanced structure v0/v1 or basic structure v1, none of which is
touched.
The check_tx identity-id test still requires InvalidIdentifierError at
every version while the asset lock is unspent. Once the lock is spent it
requires only a refusal at protocol versions 1-14, and still
InvalidIdentifierError at protocol version 15. The book no longer
describes a check_tx check of its own.
Tests: the previous check_tx identity-id test fails against this removal
(✖ at protocol version 1 once the asset lock is spent:
IdentityAssetLockTransactionOutPointAlreadyConsumedError); the updated
test passes (✔). Mutation: removing the identity id check from basic
structure v1 still fails three tests, including
should_refuse_a_wrong_identity_id_before_verifying_the_asset_lock_from_protocol_version_15.

The DRIVE_ABCI_VALIDATION_VERSIONS_V11 and PLATFORM_V15 notes said a
transition with a wrong identity id and a spent or invalid asset lock is
refused for its identity id. Identity create basic structure 1 runs
basic structure 0 first, which checks the asset lock proof's structure,
so an instant asset lock proof with an invalid structure is still
refused for that structure. Only an asset lock that is spent or whose
proof does not verify, both found after basic structure, is now refused
for the identity id. The notes now say so.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2
At head 47db3d9, the PV15 validation dispatch and retained DoubleSha256 operation preserve historical block validation and fee accounting; no blocking defects were confirmed. One nonblocking ownership suggestion remains for the relocated pure-data invariant. Static review and current CI checks show no failed code checks, including successful Rust workspace and wasm32 tests; PR Hygiene remains pending.

Triage: normal by gpt-6.1-sol (effort low) — The production diff is a contained, version-gated relocation of identity-id validation with explicit fee preservation, rather than a large or intricate change to consensus or cryptography.
(existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/platform/pull/5770#discussion_r4477058874)
The comparison and InvalidIdentifierError construction use only the transition. The book's "Where code goes" table assigns pure-data invariants to rs-dpp, and "Where a check belongs" distinguishes those invariants from Drive-ABCI's basic-structure orchestration. The existing v0 validator can remain here, but relocating this invariant into another private ABCI implementation carries its ownership issue forward and leaves DPP-only consumers without reusable validation. Extract a focused, versioned DPP helper and call it here after v0 succeeds; retain pipeline selection and fee attribution in Drive-ABCI. This does not require implementing the aggregate StateTransition::validate_structure branch for IdentityCreate: that branch can continue returning UnsupportedFeatureError, preserving existing SDK/WASM behavior. Both node paths enforce the invariant correctly, so this is nonblocking. If the extraction is deferred, link a follow-up specifically tracking its ownership; #5442 tracks the stage relocation rather than that extraction.

v5.1-dev took PV15 note 23 (IdentityCreate identity id check, #5770), so
random document properties move to note 24.

v5.1-dev took v15 changelog note 23 for checking an identity create's
identity id in basic structure (#5770). The DashPay v3 note becomes 24,
after it, and its references follow: note 3's bindings remark, the
validation_and_processing and system_data_contracts comments, and the
protocol change comment in perform_events_on_first_block_of_protocol_change.
The validation_and_processing comment keeps v5.1-dev's identity create
clause.

Brings in #5770, under which protocol version 15 checks an IdentityCreate's
identity id in basic structure, and the rust-dashcore update. In the
PLATFORM_V15 notes the identity create change takes item 23, so this
branch's fee history, recorded-owner credit and pricing items move to 24,
25 and 26, and their references in the notes and in the drive slot
comment move with them.

Follow-ups from the review of #5431, tracked in #5442:
IdentityCreateidentity-id check reads only the transition, so it belongs in basic structure validation, not in advanced structure after the asset lock is verified. The separate early copy in check_tx then has to go.IdentityCreatefailure, the same keys re-signed with a higheruser_fee_increasesucceed. fix(drive-abci)!: refuse IdentityCreate identity id and key proof failures before they consume the asset lock #5431 rewrote the only such test, because its charged failure (an empty master key signature) is unpaid from protocol version 14.IdentityCreateblock tests fix(drive-abci)!: refuse IdentityCreate identity id and key proof failures before they consume the asset lock #5431 added ran through a localprocess_blockthat skipped block-end fee distribution, so nothing checked credit conservation.Protocol version 14 has since shipped (5.0.0) and testnet runs it, so the move happens at protocol version 15 only. Protocol version 15 is unreleased and not active on any network.

Item 1: identity id checked in basic structure from protocol version 15
identity_createbasic structure v1: v0, then the identity id must be the one the asset lock's outpoint derives. A mismatch isInvalidIdentifierError, refused without a fee. v0 has already checked the asset lock proof's structure, so the outpoint exists.identity_createadvanced structure v2: v1 without the identity id check.DoubleSha256(1)that v1 charged for deriving the identity id (5,100 credits). Basic structure has no execution context. So every fee at protocol version 15 equals protocol version 14, for a valid create and for a charged failure alike.DRIVE_ABCI_VALIDATION_VERSIONS_V11(protocol version 15) selects them:basic_structure: Some(1),advanced_structure: Some(2). Protocol versions 1–14 keep basic structure 0 and advanced structure 0 (PV1–13) or 1 (PV14). Their code is byte-identical.IdentityCreatetransform failure is unpaid (none returns an action), so this changes only which unpaid error is reported. Unpaid transitions never enter a committed block.v11.rsandv15.rs(note 23; fix(drive-abci)!: re-enable the voter key of the address a masternode returns to (PV15) #5768 took note 22 onv5.1-dev) describe the change.requires_advanced_structure_validation_with_state_on_check_txnow says advanced structure checks the identity id only up to protocol version 14.Item 2: re-signed with a higher

should_charge_the_asset_lock_for_an_identity_id_or_key_proof_fault_before_protocol_version_14(protocol versions 1 and 13, every fault) now continues with that assertion. This is the original scenario, guarding the frozen advanced structure v0.should_create_the_identity_re_signed_with_a_higher_user_fee_increase_after_a_charged_failure(latest version). A key bound to a user contract that is not in state is charged by state validation (DataContractNotPresentError). After the contract is applied, the same assertion runs.registration_proved_bytakes auser_fee_increase, andKeysgainsWithAKeyBoundToContract.Items 3 and 4: credit conservation, duplicate helper
process_blocknow delegates to the sharedprocess_state_transitions_with_results. That runs the block-end fee distribution and the sum-tree check, so a credit imbalance fails the test. This replaces the duplicated processing body.actual_fees.CHECK_TX_PROTOCOL_VERSIONSadds protocol version 14: the last version whose advanced structure checks the identity id, after the asset lock proof.In-place changes to shipped generations

IdentityCreatewhose identity id is not the one its asset lock derives is refused in basic structure, before its asset lock proof is verified.InvalidIdentifierErrorinstead of the asset lock error; an asset lock proof with an invalid structure is still reported for its structure. It is refused unpaid either way.IdentityAssetLockTransactionOutPointAlreadyConsumedErrorinstead ofInvalidIdentifierError.Checklist:
