Summary

Resolves the open Dependabot alerts on this repo (NS-2162). There are no open code scanning alerts and no workflows in the repo.

Direct dependency changes

hono-cloudflare-worker (private worker):

  • hono ^4.7.8 -> ^4.13.14 (lockfile 4.7.9 -> 4.13.14). This is a runtime bump within major 4.
  • wrangler ^4.16.0 -> 4.156.0
  • vitest ^3.1.4 -> 4.1.12, @vitest/coverage-v8 ^3.1.3 -> 4.1.12
  • @cloudflare/vitest-pool-workers ^0.8.30 -> @cloudflare/vitest-plugin 1.4.11. pool-workers 0.8 only supports vitest up to 3.2, which still has the @vitest/mocker advisories, and the package is now deprecated in favour of @cloudflare/vitest-plugin. vitest.config.ts now uses the cloudflareTest() plugin and is renamed to vitest.config.mts because the plugin is ESM-only and the worker package is CJS. The tsconfig types entries point at @cloudflare/vitest-plugin/types.

@farcaster/quick-auth (published; runtime dependencies unchanged):

  • vitest ^1.1.0 -> 4.1.12
  • esbuild ^0.25.5 -> 0.28.2 (vite 8, used by vitest 4, has a peer range of ^0.27 || ^0.28)
  • @types/node 22.20.5 added. It used to come in through vitest 1, and without it the global references in the tests fail to typecheck. Built dist/ output is byte-identical to main.

Lockfiles

  • pnpm-lock.yaml is regenerated. pnpm kept the old vite 5 peer resolution when updated in place, so a full re-resolve was needed. That also refreshed in-range runtime deps of the worker: viem 2.29.4 -> 2.57.13 and zod 3.25.1 -> 3.25.76. The zodConfig.ts jitless setting still applies, and the worker tests pass.
  • hono-cloudflare-worker/pnpm-lock.yaml is deleted. The worker is a member of the pnpm workspace, so pnpm always uses the root lockfile and never reads this one. It was also stale (it still pinned @farcaster/auth-client ^0.5.0). It accounted for the hono-cloudflare-worker/pnpm-lock.yaml alerts.

Verification (Node 23.11.1 from engines, pnpm 10.8.0; there is no CI)

Step main (baseline) This branch
pnpm install --frozen-lockfile pass pass
pnpm build pass pass (dist/ identical)
pnpm typecheck fail: hono-cloudflare-worker has no typescript dep (tsc: command not found) same failure, not changed here (open PR #33 / #32 touch this)
worker tsc --noEmit using quick-auth's TypeScript 5.8.3 pass pass
pnpm test pass (quick-auth 23, worker 6) pass (quick-auth 23, worker 6)
wrangler deploy --dry-run --minify not run pass
trivy fs on pnpm-lock.yaml many findings 0 findings

No new tests were added. The only non-manifest change is moving the test harness config to @cloudflare/vitest-plugin. The existing worker suite (6 tests on POST /verify-siwf, POST /verify-jwt, GET /nonce and GET /.well-known/jwks.json, run inside workerd) passes before the change on the old pool and after it on the new plugin, so it is the red/green baseline for that migration. It also covers the hono route handling after the bump.

Alerts

  • 167 open Dependabot alerts before this change. All 167 are expected to close: the root lockfile and manifests no longer contain any vulnerable versions, and the nested lockfile is removed.
  • No code scanning alerts.

Superseded Dependabot PRs

Not superseded, but it overlaps: #36 (zod ^3.25.76). The lockfile on this branch already resolves zod 3.25.76, but the specifier is not changed here.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Bump hono to ^4.13.14, wrangler to 4.156.0, and vitest to 4.1.12 in
both packages. Replace the deprecated @cloudflare/vitest-pool-workers
0.8 (capped at vitest 3.2) with @cloudflare/vitest-plugin 1.4.11 and
move the worker vitest config to the cloudflareTest() plugin; the config
is now .mts because the plugin is ESM-only.

Bump esbuild to 0.28.2 to satisfy vite 8's peer range and add
@types/node to quick-auth, which previously came in through vitest 1.

Regenerate pnpm-lock.yaml and remove hono-cloudflare-worker/pnpm-lock.yaml,
which pnpm ignores inside the workspace and was already out of sync with
its package.json.

Priority: Low

Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes

Change: Other

Suggested reviewers: deodad

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to d91b0

The test dependency does not support the repository’s declared Node 23 runtime; select a compatible Vitest version before merging.

Security architecture risk: Low · up to d91b0

The changes primarily update dependencies and test tooling. Deployment commands, bindings, and migrations remain unchanged, and no introduced security issue was established. The replacement test runner’s internal credential handling and isolation were not independently verified.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The repository-visible authority surface remains the existing Worker deployment configuration and developer test/build processes. No new explicit secret binding, remote binding, or production permission is declared by the inspected configuration changes; dependency-internal behavior remains outside this conclusion.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The plugin is configured through Vitest and remains a development dependency; production deployment is invoked separately through Wrangler. This separation bounds the repository-declared execution path but does not prove that the plugin avoids ambient credentials or isolates all test storage.

Use a Vitest version that supports Node 23.

The repository declares Node 23.x, and its test workflow runs quick-auth with vitest run. Vitest 4.1.12 declares an engine range that excludes Node 23. This leaves the declared test workflow outside Vitest's supported runtime. Select a Vitest version whose engine range includes Node 23. Do not change the repository runtime contract without a separate requirement to stop supporting Node 23.
