Fixes#7776. When subagentModels featured any model, every unfeatured native OpenAI model was published with Math.max(base, featured.length + 100), so distinct upstream priorities collapsed into one band (with four featured models, upstream priorities 3, 8 and 9 all became 104). A newly discovered native model was buried among older ones, the published value fed back into the next sync, and the live Codex /v1/models?client_version=… response (which never applied the band) disagreed with the published catalog and models_cache.json.
Unfeatured native rows now keep their relative source order behind the featured block, using one shared resolver for the live response, the published catalog and the cache:
Source priority precedence: current discovered descriptor, then the pristine catalog backup baseline, then the exact slug's retained source value, then the upstream snapshot, then the generic fallback 9. Each candidate must be an integer in 0..1000; invalid values fall through. A previously published (banded) priority is never used as a source.
Published priority: featured rows keep their rank; with featured models, unfeatured natives get featured.length + 100 + sourcePriority; without featured models, the source priority. Unfeatured routed rows (5), account-selector strides and full modelPickerOrder overrides are unchanged.
Each native row carries the unbanded source value in a private field (like the existing spawn-priority field), so repeated syncs never compound; template clones strip it.
The Codex-shaped live model list moved from src/server/index/serve-options.ts into src/server/codex-model-list.ts (same arguments, visibility pass and response shape) and reads the baseline and retained values read-only. Malformed backup or catalog elements are skipped by these native consumers instead of failing the request; shared catalog parsing is unchanged.
No model id is hardcoded. structure/subagents.md, structure/catalog.md, and the model-ordering and sub-agent guides (English plus contradicting statements in translations) describe the contract.
Example with four featured models and no custom order: discovered natives with upstream priorities 3, 8 and none now publish 107, 112 and 113 (previously 104, 104, 104), consistently on /v1/models, the published catalog and the cache.
Verification
New regressions, red on dev and green here: tests/codex-integration/native-source-priority.test.ts (26 pass: four featured with synthetic unknown ids with and without priority, current descriptor over stale baseline, repeated sync, upstream swap, expired descriptor with retained value, feature/unfeature, invalid priorities, routed filler, account-selector strides at the 1000 bound, template clones) and tests/server/server-native-catalog-priority.test.ts (7 pass: live HTTP vs published catalog vs cache parity, malformed backup and active-catalog elements return 200).
Existing expectations changed exactly where the contract changed: full-picker guidance rank 101 -> 110, golden unfeatured Sol 4 -> 106, one catalog fixture without baseline 1 -> snapshot 4.
Focused suites (discovered-native-models, codex-catalog 338, catalog-full-picker-order 32, account selectors 30, restore, prompt-text probe, reasoning summaries, bundled-catalog consumers, Lab boundary 25), bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, file-size ratchet, layout guards: pass. Four tests (catalog-auto-review-row, catalog-auto-refresh-client-fanout, native-ultrafast-picker, ultrafast-tier-honesty) hit their 5 s timeout on this loaded shared host with both this branch and dev source; CI covers them.
Independent review (GPT-6.1 Sol), three rounds; final round on this head PASS with 0 blocking findings.
Full bun run test not run locally (shared host under load).

Walkthrough
Native GPT priorities now preserve source ordering instead of assigning the same fallback rank to unfeatured models. Catalog construction and live Codex model-list generation use shared priority handling. Documentation and tests cover priority resolution and consistency across catalog surfaces.
Adds priority provenance resolution with validation and fallback. Catalog discovery filters non-plain-object rows, and derived entries remove copied source-priority metadata. Tests cover baseline reading, malformed rows, and retained provenance.
Apply source priorities during catalog construction src/codex/catalog/build-entries.ts, tests/codex-integration/*, docs-site/src/content/docs/{fr,ja,ko,ru,tr,zh-cn,zh-tw}/guides/*, docs-site/src/content/docs/guides/*, structure/catalog.md, structure/subagents.md, scripts/test-layout/layout-codex-collision.json, tests/fixtures/test-layout-expected.json
Catalog construction applies resolved priorities to native entries and backfills. Tests cover ranking, repeated sync, and upstream reordering. Guides and structure docs describe the priority rules and examples.
Build live model lists with shared priority handling src/server/codex-model-list.ts, src/server/index/serve-options.ts, tests/server/server-native-catalog-priority.test.ts, scripts/test-layout/layout-codex-collision.json, tests/fixtures/test-layout-expected.json
The model-list builder reads baseline and retained priorities, builds catalog entries, and applies visibility. The /v1/models branch delegates list construction to it. Server tests check priority consistency and malformed catalog handling.

Explanation
The title "fix(codex): preserve native source priority behind featured subagent models" matches the main change. The PR changes how unfeatured native OpenAI models get priorities when subagent models are featured. It keeps their upstream source order behind the featured rows. The title is specific, short, and uses a conventional prefix. It does not cover the live model-list move or the docs updates, which is expected for a title.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #7776 requires model-agnostic priority preservation for discovered, unfeatured native models. src/codex/catalog/native-priority.ts validates source values from 0 through 1000, applies the required provenance order, stores unbanded provenance, and does not reuse published banded priority. src/codex/catalog/build-entries.ts preserves featured ranks and keeps routed rows, account-selector strides, spawn_agent priority handling, and picker-order behavior separate. src/server/codex-model-list.ts uses the same baseline and retained provenance as catalog generation. The reported regression tests cover synthetic unknown IDs, four featured models, missing and invalid priorities, repeated sync, upstream reorder, feature toggling, selectors, and template cleanup. The server regression tests cover live, published, and cache parity and malformed catalog inputs. The inspected implementation contains no model-specific ID logic or hardcoded model list.

Explanation
The changes stay within Issue #7776. The resolver, catalog integration, live-list extraction, provenance cleanup, malformed-row filtering, regression tests, layout updates, and English and translated documentation directly support ranking correctness, catalog parity, or the documented ranking contract. The changes do not demonstrate unrelated feature work, model-specific pins, hardcoded model IDs, or unrelated cleanup.

Prefer private provenance for copied backup rows.
First sync can copy an already modified native-only catalog into the backup. readNativeBaseline ignores each copied row’s opencodex_native_source_priority and stores its display priority. resolveNativeSourcePriority then selects that baseline before retained provenance.
A row with source priority 8 and a previous featured display priority 0 is therefore rebuilt with source priority 0. The live route also reads this backup after creation, so the lasting defect is an incorrect shared priority, not a persistent post-sync parity mismatch. Prefer valid private provenance, then use public priority when no private provenance exists.

Keep the first retained source priority for each slug.
If an active catalog contains two bare rows with the same slug and different valid opencodex_native_source_priority values, this Map keeps the last value. The catalog merge treats the first row as authoritative in src/codex/catalog/build-entries.ts:880-886. The surviving row can therefore receive a priority from a row that does not survive publication. Ignore later duplicates when building retainedBySlug, using the same first-row rule as the merge.

Union with current dev (0fc96b0): clean merge; focused native-priority, HTTP parity, Claude discovery, layout and Lab-boundary tests and typecheck pass on the merged tree. The only failure there is the file-size ratchet on docs-site/src/content/docs/reference/configuration/providers.md (2001 lines), which is already present on dev and is fixed by docs: keep the provider configuration reference under the file-size cap #7856; this PR does not touch that file.
Four tests that hit their 5 s timeout on the loaded local host (catalog-auto-review-row, catalog-auto-refresh-client-fanout, native-ultrafast-picker, ultrafast-tier-honesty) fail identically with dev source locally and pass in hosted CI on this head.
