docs(gui): clarify subagent spawn_agent fill behavior in order hint - #7537
Fixes#7366. When fewer than 5 models are featured on the Sub-agents page, Codex's spawn_agent tool advertises the featured models plus remaining unfeatured models that sort next by catalog priority (MAX_MODEL_OVERRIDES_IN_SPAWN_AGENT=5). There was no indication in the dashboard that this happens, causing confusion when unselected models appeared in the sub-agent tool declaration.
As noted by maintainer triage on #7366, featuring fewer rows sets their priority to 0..N-1 but does not establish an exclusive allowlist boundary. This PR clarifies the fill behavior directly in the Sub-agents page's order-hint tooltip (sub.orderHint) across all 11 supported locales:
Clarifies that when fewer than 5 models are featured, remaining slots are advertised by catalog priority.
States that 5 picker-visible featured models fill the list unless a custom model picker order changes catalog priority.
Visual Evidence
Verification
Validated on exact head dc9e6e1a610548070616d1c4ecdf20d1d4454419 (synced with dev at 2971af85630bc19586a13a67877f354810e01c5a) in an isolated environment (HOME, OPENCODEX_HOME, CODEX_HOME pointed at a temporary directory):
GUI Unit & Locale Tests: cd gui && bun test tests/subagents-fallback.test.tsx tests/models-subagent-limit.test.tsx tests/i18n-locales.test.ts — 68 passed / 0 failed / 5,047 assertions (subagents-fallback.test.tsx: 33 passed, asserting spawn_agent, fewer than 5 models are featured, remaining slots are advertised by catalog priority, and feature 5 models to fully control the list on the rendered tooltip; models-subagent-limit.test.tsx: 20 passed; i18n-locales.test.ts: 15 passed).
GUI Lint, i18n Lint & Production Build: cd gui && bun run lint && bun run lint:i18n && bun run build — passed (oxlint 0 errors; tsc -b && vite build transformed 470 modules and built dist/ cleanly in 443ms).
Typecheck & Structure / File-Size / Privacy Checks: bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, bun test tests/ci-workflows/structure-ssot.test.ts tests/ci-workflows/file-size-ratchet.test.ts, and git diff --check — passed.
Full-suite exception: The full root backend test suite was not run because this PR only updates GUI locale strings (gui/src/i18n/*.ts) and GUI tooltip test coverage (gui/tests/subagents-fallback.test.tsx). All affected GUI tests, locale parity checks, typechecks, and the production GUI build passed on this head.
Maintainer update
Merged current dev into the branch (no conflicts) and narrowed the hint so it does not over-promise: a custom modelPickerOrder rewrites catalog priority, and a disabled featured model is not picker-visible, so the wording now reads "When fewer than 5 featured models are visible in the picker, remaining slots are advertised by catalog priority; 5 visible featured models fill the list unless a custom model picker order changes catalog priority." in all 11 locales, with the rendered-tooltip assertions updated. The screenshot above shows the updated tooltip. Local checks on head a556978: gui subagents-fallback 33 pass, i18n-locales 15 pass, models-subagent-limit 20 pass, bun run lint, bun run lint:i18n, bun run build, root typecheck, file-size ratchet and privacy scan pass. Independent review (GPT-6.1 Sol), two rounds; final round PASS with 0 blocking findings. #7366 stays open for the roster-fill policy decision.

Required local validation passed; commands, results, and any full-suite exception are documented.
I pushed my PR to a recent dev commit (at most 10 behind; a maintainer may still ask for the exact tip before merge).
I resolved all correct Codex and CodeRabbit findings.
The sub.orderHint text now explains that catalog priority fills remaining picker slots when fewer than five models are featured. It also states that featuring five models controls the full list.
The sub.orderHint translations describe catalog-priority filling when fewer than five models are featured and state that featuring five models controls the full list. The test checks both conditions.
Document the required build result and strengthen the tooltip regression coverage before merging.

The title clearly and concisely describes the primary change: clarifying spawn_agent model-fill behavior in the Sub-agents order hint. This matches the localization updates and rendered tooltip test.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #7366 requires the dashboard to communicate how the five-slot spawn_agent list is filled when fewer than five models are featured. The PR updates sub.orderHint in all 11 locale files, including gui/src/i18n/en.ts, to state that remaining slots use catalog priority and that featuring five models controls the full list. The added rendered-tooltip assertion in gui/tests/subagents-fallback.test.tsx verifies this guidance. The issue does not require a catalog behavior change.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The supplied whole-PR summary identifies changes only to sub.orderHint in the 11 locale files and a focused rendered-tooltip test in gui/tests/subagents-fallback.test.tsx. These changes directly document and verify the behavior in issue #7366. No unrelated routing logic, catalog behavior, model data, or cleanup change is identified. The repository diff was unavailable because changed blobs are missing, so this conclusion relies on the supplied PR summary and available head file evidence.

When fewer than 5 models are featured, Codex advertises the remaining
slots by catalog priority. Update the order hint tooltip across all 11
supported locales to communicate that unfeatured models fill the remaining
window by catalog priority, and that featuring 5 models gives full control.
