fix(web): let new threads choose each repository checkout - #15636
Conversation
ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This changes the production new-thread workflow across the command palette, shortcuts, grouping logic, and draft environment-routing state. It adds individual checkout selection and manual routing behavior rather than making a small isolated correction, so the change warrants human review. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. - Around line 84-96: Preserve the connectivity guard in useNewThreadHandler, but
distinguish its unavailable-environment result from other null outcomes. Update
useThreadActions.archiveThread to treat that result as a pending draft-open
request and retry it after reconnection, without allowing no-options calls to
bypass the guard or proceed to offline reads.

Y'all are awesome, thank you. |
Resolve conflicts by reducing the change to the new-thread checkout picker: drop archive recovery, onboarding, index retry, and draft headline changes.
|
Taking over this one as maintainer for batch worktree-git-09. I will preserve author credit, merge main, rebuild the smallest checkout-picker change, and verify it headlessly with focused tests, live UI evidence, and independent reviews. No merge is planned. |

WHY DID THIS MERGE THIS IS HELL |

Grouped new-thread choices could hide reachable checkouts behind an offline representative. The new-thread picker now lists each physical checkout, puts connected choices first, and keeps unavailable choices visible with their connection status. Choosing a checkout pins the draft to that exact environment and clears stale load-balancing routing.
Both picker entry paths update while open as environments disconnect or reconnect. Sidebar New thread and the global shortcut count physical checkout choices, treating scratch projects as one contextual choice. Ordinary project search keeps logical grouping; direct contextual shortcuts keep their existing behavior.
Rebuilt from @maria-rcks’s work in #15636, preserving the author commits and merging current main. Addresses #12093. Removed obsolete callback/memo wiring after the main merge and consolidated the original grouping tests.
Verification:
Before — pinned main shows only the offline representative:
After — the same fixture and viewport expose all three checkouts:
Recording: keyboard guards and reconnecting without reopening the picker.
Structured live verification.
