ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR changes how repository-selected GitHub credentials are resolved, propagated, and refreshed across many production agent providers. It also adds a static-analysis suppression, making the authentication and credential-handling changes appropriate for human review. Review comments at @apps/server/src/sourceControl/GitHubWorkspaceAccount.ts:
- Line 38: Update the credential handling around
GitHubCredentials.isGitHubDotCom so an account token is not exposed through the
agent-wide GH_TOKEN environment; use host-scoped authentication tied to
workspace.host, ensuring commands targeting other hosts cannot receive it.
Review comments at @packages/provider-acp-registry/src/server/adapter.ts:
- Around line 138-142: Update the Devin session’s clientTerminals environment to
include the workspace environment produced by
ProviderAdapter.runtimePolicyEnvironment(input.runtimePolicy), alongside
options.environment, so terminal commands use the selected repository account.
Preserve the existing MCP session and request variables added by the ACP
terminal handler.

Give supported agent sessions the repository’s selected GitHub account through existing redacted environment boundaries. Resolve only when opening a session or rolling back, and include an environment digest in query/session reuse so rotation and clearing take effect. Include workspace credentials in ACP client terminals. Codex loaded-thread adoption remains unverified; shared/external process limits are documented.
Stack: #21581 → #21582 → #21583.
Rebuilt from @rookmate’s #20337, preserving its repository → owner → host → active-login selection. The contribution spans request credentials, account settings, and provider sessions, so it is replaced by three dependent layers on current main.
Verification report and raw synthetic API/media proof cover integrated head 8d2c44a330. The isolated server’s real HTTP authentication, WebSocket RPC, signed asset creation, and asset delivery passed fourteen assertions: two personal repositories before rules, all three with correct viewers after an owner rule plus repository exception, settings save/clear rereads, and explicit PR-repository media selecting the account that returns the exact PNG. GitHub and gh discovery were synthetic boundaries. Explicit cache invalidation was used in the API probe; focused tests separately cover automatic settings invalidation.
PR-added named tests: 20 in 8 files → 15 in 8 existing files, keeping behavioral regressions and removing duplicate helper/per-adapter assertions. The earlier 12-in-7 report undercounted existing githubAccounts cases; the report now reconciles the inventory. The final two routing regressions went from 46 passed / 2 expected failures to 48/48 passed. Scoped contracts/GitHub/server/web/mobile types, focused selection/media/session/client suites, affected React Compiler targets, and changed-file lint/format passed. Earlier broader focused runs and a disclosed unrelated Claude timeout are detailed in the report. Six fresh whole-stack review rounds per reviewer completed; the final round found no confirmed source issues. Sol’s optional arbitrary-repository settings entry was declined as outside the original project-based model. The latest fixes bound the complete link lookup, including account selection, to three seconds and identify project account rows by environment/project. The deadline regression failed before the fix; all 53 provider/credential cases, scoped GitHub/web checks and the focused compiler check now pass. The previously failing browser suites passed all 11 tests in actual headless Chromium; this is test-suite evidence, not integrated visual proof.

API/test proof is the authorized headless fallback. Live GitHub/GHE/GHES accounts, native iOS/Android, Electron shell, macOS/Windows, and external provider processes were not exercised. Verify settings, unavailable-rule clearing, attribution, media, and session account changes with two real accounts on those clients.Repository overrides are created from a project’s Source control settings; add a linked repository as a project before creating its own override. Upgrade the server and all connected clients together: older clients can erase rules and older servers ignore them. Git transport keeps its own authentication. Saved/environment tokens retain precedence and suppress selected-login agent overrides. GH_TOKEN selects the process account for GitHub.com/GHE.com commands; GHES keeps gh’s host login. Codex loaded-thread adoption is unproven, so restart sessions as documented. Shared/external provider processes retain their documented credentials. GitHub media remains limited to github.com.
Current-head CI and configured bot follow-up are in progress. Macroscope declined automatic approval because the authentication-sensitive scope requires human review. Nothing is merged.
