Drop Tags in the Lossless Timestamp Repair Like Every Other Rewrite - #1149
Resolves the decision in #1146 by giving the lossless timestamp repair the same MkvMerge pass as every other rewrite.
TryLosslessTimestampRepair() runs Convert.ReMux() on the FfMpeg setts output (.tmp14) before TimestampRepairRegressionGate(). So the stream-hash and sync gate and the re-verify judge the remuxed file, and the repair drops global tags, track tags, attachments, and buttons whatever RemoveTags says. The DtsTimestampRepair plugin calls the same method, so it gets the same pass.
The gate compares only media streams. ffprobe and the streamhash muxer list each Matroska attachment as a stream, and cover art as an attached_pic video stream, while the MkvMerge pass drops both. Without this change, the stream-count check would reject the repair of every file that carries an attachment. GetStreamHashes() maps them out with -map -0:t -map -0:disp:attached_pic, which FFmpeg 7.1 and 8.1 both accept. GetStreamTimings() skips them through StreamTimingsProbe.MediaStreamTimings(). Matroska demuxing lists attachments after the tracks, so the media stream indices match on both sides.
ARCHITECTURE.md "Remux and Container Steps" no longer names the lossless repair as an exception, the repair flowchart shows the MkvMerge pass, and the MkvMergeBuilder.InputOptions.Default() comment loses its pointer to the exception.
Adds a dts-audio-tagged synthetic fixture: an audio-only DTS step back under a global tag and an attachment, with healthy B-frame video. It exercises the successful lossless repair end to end, which dts-mixed cannot, since its video break fails re-verify. dts-mixed and the new fixture share one builder.
Real-media check
The issue asked for a check that the MkvMerge pass keeps the repaired timestamps. On the synthetic fixture, before it carried an attachment, with FFmpeg's setts command and then mkvmerge with the default input options:

MkvMerge moves one audio packet 2 ms forward, the one after the packet setts repaired. setts places the repaired packet 1 ms after its predecessor, and with 23 ms packets the next one then overlaps it. The 2 ms move removes that overlap and stays inside the 40 ms sync tolerance the gate checks.
End to end, a framework-dependent publish of this branch ran process in the ptr727/plexcleaner:develop image with RemoveTags set to false, on the fixture with its tag and attachment. The log shows the lossless tier run, Remux using MkvMerge on the .tmp14 file, and Timestamp repair succeeded, with the sidecar set to Repaired, Verified. The output carries no global or track tags and no attachments. Its per-stream MD5 matches the original, and an ffmpeg decode of it reports no warnings.
Verification
dotnet build: 0 warnings, 0 errors. CSharpier and dotnet format style --verify-no-changes --severity=info are clean.
dotnet test: 452 passed, including a new StreamTimingsProbeTests case for the attachment and cover art filter.
RegressionTests unittest: 31 passed. ruff, ruff format, and mypy are clean on synthesize.py.
markdownlint, cspell, and the prose gate over the diff are clean. The comments label covers the added code comments.
Dropped findings
PlexCleanerTests/StreamTimingsProbeTests.cs:45, style: the new test spells the Roslyn language marker // Lang=json, while the file's older markers read // lang=json. The prose gate's comment-case rule reads the lowercase marker as a sentence, and removing it fails dotnet format style with JSON002. Roslyn recognizes the capitalized spelling.
Part of #1146. The promotion PR carries the closing keyword.
The lossless setts repair moved the FfMpeg output over the original with no
MkvMerge pass, so it kept the file's tags and attachments and added the tags
the FfMpeg Matroska muxer writes. A Convert.ReMux() pass now runs on the setts
output before the regression gate, so the gate and the re-verify judge the
remuxed file.
Add a dts-audio-tagged synthetic fixture, an audio-only DTS break under a
global tag, that exercises the successful lossless repair end to end.

The MkvMerge pass drops attachment streams, while ffprobe and the
streamhash muxer list each Matroska attachment as a stream. So the gate's
stream count check rejected every repair of a file carrying an attachment.
The stream hashes now map attachments out, and the timings skip them.
The dts-audio-tagged fixture carries an attachment to cover that case.

Walkthrough
Lossless timestamp repair now remuxes its temporary output before regression checks. Timing and hash comparisons exclude attachment streams. A synthetic fixture covers an audio-only timestamp break beneath a global tag and attachment, and documentation describes the metadata dropped by the remux.
The repair flow remuxes its temporary output before regression checks and returns false if remuxing fails. Probe timings and stream hashes exclude attachments. The documentation states that the MkvMerge pass drops metadata regardless of RemoveTags.
The generator adds an audio-only DTS timestamp-break fixture with a global COMMENT tag and text attachment. The regression notes describe the lossless repair and media-stream comparison.

High-Level Assessment
Reuse Convert.ReMux() as proposed: it gives lossless repair the same tag-removal behavior as other rewrites and lets the existing gate validate the file that will actually replace the original. Explicitly stripping metadata from the FFmpeg output was considered, but would duplicate container policy and omit the common remux path.

Follow-up Comments
Lossless timestamp repair rejects Matroska files with embedded cover art.
55-61: Minor · Functional Correctness · Poor tradeoff
Lossless timestamp repair rejects Matroska files with embedded cover art.
For a Matroska file with an embedded cover image, ffprobe can report that image as a video stream with attached_pic. When SetTimestamps copies that stream and its attached_pic.data is populated, ffmpeg's Matroska muxer writes it as an attachment, not a track. Convert.ReMux then runs mkvmerge with --no-attachments before the gate, which removes the image. The original file still reports it as a video stream. TimestampRepairRegressionGate then compares the counts, so beforeHash.Count != afterHash.Count rejects the lossless repair for these files.
The affected files go to RepairAndReVerify. Its TryRemuxRepair also removes attachments, so the cover art is lost on that path too. The lossless tier is skipped only for these files. The fallback can re-encode if its remux does not verify clean.
The stream selections in MediaStreamTimings() and GetStreamHashes must treat attached-picture streams the same way. Otherwise the original and remuxed files do not compare the same media streams.

Update MediaStreamTimings and GetStreamHashes to exclude streams marked as
attached pictures, just as they exclude attachment streams, so both comparisons
include the same media streams before and after remuxing.
MediaStreamTimings() maps each media stream's Duration, but this test does not check that value. A regression that drops or changes durations would still pass. Asserting the duration makes that regression fail here.

Update the timing-map test using MediaStreamTimings() to verify mapped
durations: give the audio stream an explicit duration in the JSON fixture and
assert that timings[1].Duration matches it, alongside the existing start-time
assertion.
Add an automated check for the dts-audio-tagged fixture.
Add an automated check for the dts-audio-tagged fixture.
No automated run builds or checks this fixture. regression-test.sh runs the plugins only on the troublesome corpus. synthesize.py writes the file and does not check its output. As a result, an automated run does not detect a regression in the lossless repair, tag removal, or attachment removal for this input.
Add a check that repairs the generated file and asserts:
The sidecar state is Repaired, Verified.
The output has no global tags and no attachments.
The media-stream hashes match the input.
The dts-audio-tagged builder already produces the input. The check needs an entry point that runs the DtsTimestampRepair path on the generated file, then reads the repair state and the streams.

Add an automated check for the file produced by build_dts_audio_tagged that runs
the DtsTimestampRepair path, then verifies the sidecar state is Repaired,
Verified, the output has no global tags or attachments, and the media-stream
hashes match the input.

FFmpeg reports Matroska cover art as an attached_pic video stream, while
the MkvMerge pass drops it with the other attachments. So cover art that
survived RemoveCoverArt made the gate reject the lossless repair. The stream
hashes map attached_pic streams out, and the timings skip them.

CodeRabbit follow-ups on fb34ed7, both fixed in 03b4575:
Cover art in the lossless repair gate: GetStreamHashes() also maps out -0:disp:attached_pic, and MediaStreamTimings() skips streams whose ffprobe disposition is attached_pic. So the gate compares the same media streams before and after the MkvMerge pass. The specifier works on FFmpeg 7.1 and 8.1. On the main pipeline, RemoveCoverArt() runs before verify, so this matters where cover art survives that step or a plugin calls RepairTimestamps() directly.
Duration assertion: MediaStreamTimings_AttachmentAndCoverArt_Skipped now asserts the audio stream's duration, and it covers a cover-art stream too.

Summary
Resolves the decision in #1146 by giving the lossless timestamp repair the same MkvMerge pass as every other rewrite.
TryLosslessTimestampRepair()runsConvert.ReMux()on the FfMpegsettsoutput (.tmp14) beforeTimestampRepairRegressionGate(). So the stream-hash and sync gate and the re-verify judge the remuxed file, and the repair drops global tags, track tags, attachments, and buttons whateverRemoveTagssays.
