Session Handoff [auto-3369]: Correct the Lint Snippets' Claim That the Hook's EOL Gate Is Diff-Scoped (#3369) #3449

Next steps, in priority order

  1. Fix Correct the Lint Snippets' Claim That the Hook's EOL Gate Is Diff-Scoped #3369. The Lint-group comment in catalog/snippets/configs/vscode-tasks.json and catalog/snippets/configs/vscode-tasks-python.json says the commit hook runs both the prose and the EOL gates diff-scoped. Only the prose gate is diff-scoped there, since the hook's EOL entry runs repo_gate.py --check eol with no --diff, over every tracked file. Correct both snippets, including the following line's "add the same two checks in whole-repo mode", which inherits the error for Lint: EOL. Done means both snippets say only the prose gate is diff-scoped in the hook, and a pull request into develop carrying Closes on promotion: #3369 has merged.

    Outcome

Merged #3450 into develop (squash 636ddffe). Its body carries Closes on promotion: #3369, so #3369 closes when develop is promoted to main.

    • Both VS Code task snippets now say only the prose gate is diff-scoped in the hook, and that Lint: EOL runs the hook's own whole-tree EOL check.
    • The same false claim was corrected in catalog/snippets/husky/README.md, catalog/snippets/pre-commit/README.md, and two GOVERNANCE.md bullets in "Running the Linters Locally (Known-Working Invocations)", which the local review found.
    • Nothing was filed along the way. One pre-existing sentence-length observation on GOVERNANCE.md:292 is listed in the pull request body, unfiled.
    • Post-merge cleanup ran with exit 0: remote branch, worktree, and local branch removed, develop current.

Scope was develop, so no promotion was opened or merged.
