Skip deleted files and prune missing entries when registering invalid files, and log a settings-file or results-file write failure without ending the run.
RegisterInvalidFiles does not add a result whose state has FileDeleted to FileIgnoreList.
With RegisterInvalidFiles on, entries whose file no longer exists are pruned, only when the entry's parent folder exists, so an unmounted share keeps its entries. The settings file is rewritten when the list changed.
A failed write of the settings file or the --resultsfile is logged as an error and the other write is still attempted. ProcessFiles(fileList, out bool writeFailed) reports it apart from the processing result.
The process command still runs DeleteEmptyFolders() after a write failure and exits with an error code. Monitor ignores writeFailed, so monitoring keeps running.
The results log placeholder {Program.Options.ResultFile} is corrected to {ResultsFile}.
Tests in PostRunWriteTests.
Documentation (ARCHITECTURE.md Suspect Branches entries S12 and S13, diagram redraws, HISTORY.md) is deferred to one final docs pull request by the maintainer's choice, so this pull request does not touch them.
A deleted file is no longer registered in FileIgnoreList. A failed write of the
settings file or the results file is logged and ProcessFiles returns false, so
DeleteEmptyFolders still does not run.

Post-processing now skips deleted files during invalid-file registration and reports failures when saving settings or writing the results file. Tests cover registration behavior and successful and failed writes.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title names three changes: skipping deleted files, pruning missing entries, and logging post-run write failures. The raw summary describes skipping deleted files in RegisterInvalidFiles and logging/handling write failures in FinishProcessing and ProcessFiles. It does not describe pruning missing entries. The PR objectives say existing ignore-list entries remain unchanged and pruning is out of scope. The title is therefore partially related: two of the three named changes match the changeset, and the 'Prune Missing Entries' clause describes something not present in the changeset.
Resolution
Remove 'Prune Missing Entries' from the title. For example: 'Skip Deleted Files and Log Post-Run Write Failures', which matches PR #1117 and the objectives.

AI Description
• Exclude deleted files from new ignore-list entries while preserving existing entries.

High-Level Assessment
Keep the post-run handling in Process: it preserves independent write attempts and lets existing process and monitor callers handle the failure status without changing their cleanup flow. A separate writer abstraction would add complexity for this focused change.

1. Deleted paths stay on the ignore list✓ Resolved
Description
RegisterInvalidFiles filters only the incoming failed results and never removes a path already
present in FileIgnoreList. When a deleted file was registered by an earlier run, the existing
entry survives this processing and continues to suppress that path.
The new filter excludes only deleted items from the current failedResults collection, while the
added test explicitly asserts that an already-existing deleted.mkv entry remains in
FileIgnoreList. This matches the rule's failure condition that a deleted file path remains
registered.
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution
## Issue description
`RegisterInvalidFiles` skips newly processed results marked `FileDeleted`, but it preserves existing deleted paths in `FileIgnoreList`. This leaves stale entries behind after a deleted file is processed.
## Fix Focus Areas
- PlexCleaner/Process.cs[704-716]
- PlexCleanerTests/PostRunWriteTests.cs[78-95]
## Recommended Fix
Before or during invalid-file registration, remove existing `FileIgnoreList` entries whose corresponding paths no longer exist, while preserving valid entries. Update the settings file when stale entries are removed, and add or adjust a test proving that an existing entry for a deleted file is removed.

2. The title capitalizes middle and📘 Rule violation✧ Quality
Description
The pull request title uses and as a capitalized principal word instead of the documented
lowercase bind-word style. The title is Skip Deleted Files and Log Post-Run Write Failures, so the
conjunction appears in the middle and does not match the stated format.
Deleted paths stay on the ignore list (Requirement gap)
Declined, a maintainer decision. The maintainer's decision on #1080 reads: "skip results whose file was deleted when registering invalid files. Existing ignore-list entries are left as they are." Pruning existing entries is explicitly out of scope, see #1080. RegisterInvalidFiles_ExistingEntry_IsKept pins that behavior.
The title capitalizes middle and (Rule violation)
Not real. The title is "Skip Deleted Files and Log Post-Run Write Failures", and and is already lowercase in it. A hyphenated compound capitalizes both parts unless the second is a short preposition, and Run is not one, so Post-Run is correct.

🟡 Changes recommended
A test gap remains for verifying that the settings and results writes are attempted independently when both features are enabled, leaving an active coverage issue.
Updates post-run processing to exclude deleted files from the invalid-file ignore list and handle settings/results-file write failures without proceeding to empty-folder cleanup.
Changes:
Adds testable FinishProcessing and RegisterInvalidFiles helpers.

Add a test where the settings write fails and the results file is set.
FinishProcessing_SettingsWriteFails_ReturnsFalse sets ResultsFile to string.Empty, so the results write never runs. An early return after a settings failure would still pass this test. A test that sets ResultsFile to a real path and asserts that the results file exists would detect that regression.

Add a test alongside FinishProcessing_SettingsWriteFails_ReturnsFalse that sets
ResultsFile to a real path, causes the settings write to fail, and asserts
FinishProcessing still returns false and creates the results file. This verifies
that a settings-write failure does not skip the results write.

Update on the earlier answer to Qodo finding "1. Deleted paths stay on the ignore list": the maintainer changed the decision, so this finding is now accepted. The latest push prunes FileIgnoreList entries whose file no longer exists, only when the entry's parent folder exists, covered by RegisterInvalidFiles_MissingFileInExistingFolder_IsPruned. Edge cases of the pruning rule are tracked in #1120.
