Promotes develop to main, carrying the 3.23 work that landed on develop after the earlier promotion in #1098.
develop merges into main with no conflict. The regression run passed on develop at 105eb81. #1142 landed after it, fixing review findings raised on this pull request.
* Fail One File Instead of the Whole Run on a Per-File Exception
An exception in any processing step escaped Process.ProcessFile() and the per-file loop in
ProcessDriver.ProcessFiles(), so the PLINQ ForAll ended the run for every remaining file and the
command exited with 1. ProcessFile() now catches it, fails the file with the step as its failed
operation, and keeps the file, since an exception says nothing about the media. The driver loop
also fails one file on an exception from its task, which covers every command that uses it. A
cancel still propagates.
Fixes#1069

* Drop the Plugin Exception Wrapper the Driver Catch Replaces
ProcessDriver.ProcessFiles() now fails one file on an exception from any task, so the plugin
command passes plugin.ProcessFile directly. The Dispatch diagram names an exception escaping
ProcessFile() as the source of a missing result row, and a wrapped TODO comment is one sentence
per line.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Propagate an Exception Only When a Cancel Was Requested
A plugin can throw a TaskCanceledException from a timeout of its own with no cancel requested.
Filtering on the exception type let it end the whole run, so both per-file catches key on the
cancel state instead.

* Draw the Dispatch Exception Edges for Both Cancel States

* Keep the Result Row When a Failed File Cannot Be Deleted
DeleteFailedFile() logs a delete that throws and reports the file as not deleted, so the process
command still records the file's result row. A throw from the ProcessFile constructor names that
step as the failed operation, the error summary names the failed step beside the file's state, and
the driver tests assert the per-file error count.

#1110)
* Replace the Original Only After ReEncode and DeInterlace Fully Succeed
ReEncode() and DeInterlace() moved their output over the original before
the remux and the language restore ran, so a failure in those steps left
a rewritten file with no state flag and no modified report. Both now run
every step on the temp file and move it last. A decode-error repair that
already replaced the file records its state even when a cancel arrives.
Fixes#1072

* Answer the Strict Review of the ReEncode and DeInterlace Reorder
Revert the decode-error cancel change, since the driver returns before it
records a cancelled file, so the change only added cancelled tool runs.
Add a DeInterlace test and move the shared fake-tool helpers into
FakeTools, so both test classes use one copy.

* Set Verified Only When a Verification Ran
With the Verify option off, VerifyAndRepair() marked every file Verified. Enabling Verify later
skipped those files, and a metadata repair's VerifyFailed was cleared on the next run, so the
repair was retried on every other run. VerifyAndRepair() now leaves the state unchanged with the
option off.
Verified also kept the idet and closed caption scans from running again. The new
ScannedInterlace and ScannedCaptions flags record a clean scan, so each scan still runs once per
file without a verify. A tool change clears them along with Verified.

* Skip Recording a Quick Scan and Test the Tool-Change Clear
A --quickscan caption scan reads only a sample, so it sets no ScannedCaptions flag, matching the
interlace scan. Remove the unreachable Verify option check in Verify(), and test that a tool change
clears the scanned flags.

* Scope the Quick Scan Condition to Both Caption Scan Steps

* Skip the Scan Flag Refresh Without Sidecar Files
Without a sidecar the scan flag is never persisted, and Refresh(false) would run the three media
property probes again on unchanged media, failing a clean scan if one of them failed.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Save State Without Probing When Sidecar Files Are Off
Every step that only changes a file's state called Refresh(false), which with UseSidecarFiles off
runs the three media property tools on unchanged media to save a state that is never written.
SaveState() skips that refresh, and every state-only site uses it.

* Keep a File Whose Repair Run a Signal Ended
A repair tier killed by a signal, such as the out-of-memory killer during a
long re-encode, never ran to a result. Count it with the tool runs that did
not run, so the failed repair leaves the state unchanged, DeleteInvalidFiles
keeps the file, and the next run repairs again.
Fixes#1095

* Share One Signal Check and Record a Killed FfProbe Packet Run
FfMpeg overrides the shared check with its 255 exit, so the verify run and
the buffered runs read a signal the same way. The FfProbe packet run records
a signal too, so the docs' claim holds for every tool run.

* Re-Run the Full Cleanup After a Verify and Repair
A re-encode, deinterlace or repair by FfMpeg or HandBrake can undo

language, tag and default flag steps.

* Re-Run the Cleanup Only When a Step Modified the File
On a file no step modified, each cleanup step already found nothing

* Skip Deleted Files and Log Write Failures After a Process Run
A deleted file is no longer registered in FileIgnoreList. A failed write of the

* Continue After a Post-Run Write Failure and Prune Missing Ignore Entries

* Fail a Rename Onto an Existing File and Undo a Partial Rename
A lowercase rename or a remux to .mkv that would replace a different
existing file fails the file and keeps both, on case-sensitive and
case-insensitive file systems alike. The kept file is not deleted by
DeleteInvalidFiles, since the collision says nothing about the media.
A lowercase rename whose second move fails moves the file back to its
original name, or reports the temp name it is left at. A remux or
reencode whose input delete fails after the move still reports the
output and the modification.
Fixes#1073Fixes#1109
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Delete the Temp File When the Final Move Fails and Share One Check
A file created at the output name during a remux or reencode fails the
final move, which now deletes the temp file before rethrowing. A failed
undo of the lowercase rename reports the modification with the temp
path. The lowercase and remux steps call the same Convert check, so the
collision is logged in one place.

* Keep a Raised Modified Flag When the Lowercase Undo Succeeds

* Check Collisions Once and Keep a Taken Temp Name
The collision check lives in the ProcessFile steps alone, so a file
created at the output name afterwards fails the non-overwriting final
move, and the thrown step keeps the file rather than reaching
DeleteFailedFile. The lowercase rename does not overwrite an existing
temp name, and a failed temp cleanup no longer masks the move failure.

* Guard Repeat Conversions and Keep Bitrate State Current
The automatic process path skips ReEncode() and DeInterlace() when the
file already carries ReEncoded or DeInterlaced, and logs a warning naming
the tracks that still match. The explicit reencode and deinterlace
commands still convert.
Every bitrate measurement sets or clears BitrateExceeded, a repair that
re-encodes measures the replaced media again, and a failed bitrate or
packet analysis logs a warning instead of failing the file. A bitrate
analysis ended by a tool error leaves Verified unset so the next run
retries it, and a packet analysis tool error stops before the timestamp
repair ladder runs.

* Cover Repairs After a Bitrate Tool Error
Drop the signal snapshot from VerifyBitrate(), since an FfProbe signal
exit is recorded as a tool error. Test a re-encode repair whose bitrate
re-measure hits a tool error and a remux repair after a bitrate tool
error, and make the delete assertion meaningful by enabling
DeleteInvalidFiles in the fixture.

* Report Unrepaired Metadata and Stop Repeating Cleanup Edits
RepairMetadataErrors() reports errors left by a disabled repair and
continues, and a track flag set that does not stick is not retried.
RemoveCoverArt() removes cover art only MediaInfo reports, re-checks
every source, and warns once when it remains. DeleteFailedFile() keeps
the media delete when only the sidecar delete fails.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Skip Remaining Cover Art Before the ReMux Check
Cover art a removal already gave up on continues the file even with
ReMux off, rather than failing it on every later run.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Set SetFlags Only for Flags That Do Not Stick
A successful flag set leaves SetFlags unset, so a rewrite that later
drops a flag is not read as a flag that did not stick. The remux error
predicate is shared by the remux trigger, its re-check, and the report.
A skipped repeat logs at Information. Tests cover the report per option
and the cleanup re-run setting flags a rewrite dropped.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Keep SetFlags Meaning Flags Were Set
SetFlags is set on every flag set again, per the maintainer decision on
#1074. A later run that finds SetFlags with flag errors left skips the
repeat and logs at Information. The narrow window where a rewrite drops
the flags and the run ends before the cleanup re-run is accepted.

* Split Track State into a Disposition and Combinable Actions
A track held one State value, so a later finding overwrote an earlier
one. A language tag needing a remux was lost once the title asked for a
track flag, and the repair report named only the flags.
State now holds only what happens to the track (None, Keep, Remove,
Unsupported). A separate flags property holds what the track needs done
(SetLanguage, SetFlags, ReMux, ReEncode, DeInterlace), grouped as
attribute and stream actions. Both are rebuilt from tool output every

… Ground Truth (#1135)
* Filter find_run on Corpus So a Reduced Run Is Not Read as Full-Corpus Ground Truth
find_run picked the newest develop run by Channel alone, so a reduced-corpus
run became the default ground truth for audit_physical.py and catalog_corpus.py.

and falling back to the -reduced directory suffix for older runs.

PlexCleaner writes the settings file back when it upgrades an older

clip failed to produce results and was kept whole, with no stated cause.
Each clip now gets its own writable copy of PlexCleaner.json under its work

Tracks now store combinable repair actions separately from track state. Metadata repair reports remaining issues when options are disabled, checks whether flag edits persisted, and updates cover-art removal paths and checks.
Sidecar scan and completion state PlexCleaner/SidecarFile.cs, PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs, PlexCleanerTests/ScanStateTests.cs, PlexCleanerTests/SidecarRenameStateTests.cs, PlexCleanerTests/ToolChangeSenseTests.cs, ARCHITECTURE.md
Sidecars add caption and interlace scan flags. Clean scans record those flags, configured tool changes clear them with Verified, and Open preserves caller-seeded state when it loads an existing sidecar.
Conversion and collision-safe replacement PlexCleaner/Convert.cs, PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs, PlexCleanerTests/RenameCollisionTests.cs, PlexCleanerTests/ReplaceOriginalTests.cs, ARCHITECTURE.md
Remux, re-encode, deinterlace, and rename flows check for conflicting targets. Conversion and language restoration complete on temporary output before replacing the input; failed moves or metadata steps preserve or report the applicable file state.
Verification, repair, and bitrate state PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs, PlexCleaner/MediaTool.cs, PlexCleaner/FfMpegTool.cs, PlexCleaner/FfProbeTool.cs, PlexCleanerTests/ReEncodeBitrateStateTests.cs, PlexCleanerTests/VerifyToolErrorTests.cs, HISTORY.md, ARCHITECTURE.md
Verification distinguishes bitrate tool errors from other analysis failures. Repair updates bitrate state after re-encoding, and tool signal exits are recorded as errors. Timestamp repair stops on cancellation or tool errors and can continue through the repair ladder for other packet-analysis failures.
Uncancelled per-file exceptions fail the affected file without ending processing of later files. Settings and results write failures are reported to the process command, while monitor processing continues after a write failure. Deleted files are excluded from invalid-file registration, and orphan-sidecar deletion is treated as successful cleanup.
Tool startup checks now use family-specific minimum releases and dates. Checks compare release identifiers and recognized build dates; unknown versions are accepted with a warning, while unsupported versions produce an error. Docker packages and installation guidance reflect the tool-version requirements.

Explanation
Scope: all linked issues are open and directly linked. Documentation-only requirements (#1105 HISTORY trim, #1106 README badge, #1107 diagram split) are treated as non-coding and are not part of this verdict. Evidence: the whole-PR diff of PlexCleaner/MediaTool.cs (merge base 4011f73 to head 105eb81), the file-level change summary, and the test names listed in the change summary. Tests were not run.
Verified in the MediaTool.cs diff:
[#1104] GetMinimum() sets a minimum for FfMpeg (8.0), HandBrake (1.10.0), MediaInfo (25.7), MkvToolNix (94.0), and SevenZip (25.1). CheckVersion() handles release versions, prefixed builds, HandBrake branch builds, and dated builds. An unparsable version returns Unknown and is logged as a warning, not passed silently. MinimumVersionTests covers each family. The Docker and Windows download checks and the release-history confirmation are not established by code.
By change summary and test names:
[#1069, #1070, #1080, #1081, #1116, #1120] Per-file exception catch in ProcessDriver and ProcessFile; orphan sidecar treated as success; deleted files skipped in ignore-list registration; pruning limited to missing files with an existing parent folder; write failures reported through writeFailed and exit code 1; settings write retried; sidecar deletion failure separated from media deletion (PerFileExceptionTests, OrphanSidecarTests, PostRunWriteTests, MonitorWriteFailureTests, DeleteFailedFileTests).
[#1071, #1076, #1078, #1079] Verified set only when verification runs; ReEncode and DeInterlace skip repeat work on conditional calls; bitrate state updated and bitrate tool errors handled; IsMediaAndToolsCurrent honors SidecarUpdateOnToolChange (ReEncodeBitrateStateTests, ToolChangeSenseTests, VerifyToolErrorTests).
[#1072, #1073, #1082, #1109] Original replaced only after conversion and language restore succeed; rename onto another file refused; rename rollback after a failed second move; seeded state kept when a sidecar exists (ReplaceOriginalTests, RenameCollisionTests, SidecarRenameStateTests).
[#1074, #1075, #1077, #1127] Unrepaired metadata reported; cleanup steps rerun after modification; cover art removal covers MediaInfo; track Actions split from State so multiple repairs per track are reported (CleanupStepRepeatTests, TrackActionsTests). The FfProbe cover-art re-check is established only by the change summary wording.
[#1095] A signal-ended repair run is recorded and the file is kept. VerifyToolErrorTests.VerifyAndRepair_RepairSignalExit_KeepsStateAndFiles asserts this outcome. The pull request does not name which of the three listed options it chose.
[#1124, #1129] Shared FakeTools and LogCapture helpers added and used by the listed test classes.
[#1134, #1136] find_run takes a corpus argument defaulting to full; reduce_corpus.py stages a writable per-clip settings copy (test_corpus_common.py, test_reduce_corpus.py).
Not established: the #1120 Monitor stat-latency observation has no stated expected outcome, so it is not treated as a requirement.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
Each changed area maps to a linked issue or to its test or documentation support:
FfMpegTool CreateTrackArgs: selects encoding by the ReEncode action. This follows the track action split required by #1127. The pull request description names #1132 for this split. #1132 is not in the linked issue list, but it matches the #1127 requirement to keep repair needs apart from flag state.
FfMpegTool GetVersion development-build fallback and the GetVersion assert changes in HandBrake, MediaInfo, MkvMerge and SevenZip: support the #1104 version gate.
Dockerfile: 7zip package and comment path changes support the #1104 Docker minimum check. The comment-only path change is tangential and does not alter behavior.
SelectMediaProps.SetActions, TrackProps, VideoProps: implement the #1127 action split.
ARCHITECTURE.md, HISTORY.md, README.md: documentation for #1105, #1106, #1107, #1104 and release notes.
Test files: cover the linked issue behavior, and the shared helpers implement #1124 and #1129.
RegressionTests Python scripts: implement #1134 and #1136.
No change was found that lacks a connection to a linked issue. The change summary reports that ARCHITECTURE.md removes its suspect-branch list. #1107 asks to keep the S-number references unchanged. This is a documentation point for reviewer attention and does not establish an unrelated change.

High-Level Assessment
The following are alternative approaches to this PR:
1. Extract a reusable cleanup pipeline
➕ Would keep the initial and post-rewrite cleanup sequences aligned as steps evolve.
➖ Would broaden the release change and complicate step-specific failure reporting and conditional execution.
Recommendation: Promote the targeted fixes with their regression tests for 3.23. Consider extracting the duplicated cleanup sequence separately after release; combining that refactor with these safety fixes would increase review and regression risk.

1. Old reduced runs are treated as full 📎 Requirement gap≡ Correctness
Description
find_run treats a missing Corpus field as full without checking whether the run directory ends
in -reduced. When an older reduced run has no Corpus field, default selection can pass its data
to audit_physical.py and catalog_corpus.py as full-corpus ground truth.
+ info = json.loads(bi.read_text())+ if info.get("Channel") != channel or info.get("Corpus", "full") != corpus:
Evidence
The filter in RegressionTests/corpus_common.py[372-373] defaults a missing Corpus field to
full and does not inspect the run directory name, even though reduced run directories can have a
-reduced suffix. The cited tests cover runs with Corpus set but not a legacy -reduced run
whose buildinfo lacks the field.
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution
## Issue description
`find_run` treats legacy reduced runs without a `Corpus` field as full-corpus runs, allowing default audits and catalogs to use reduced data as full-corpus ground truth.
## Fix Focus Areas
- RegressionTests/corpus_common.py[372-373]
- RegressionTests/tests/test_corpus_common.py[118-152]
## Recommended Fix
When `Corpus` is absent from `buildinfo.json`, classify the run as `reduced` if its directory name ends in `-reduced`, and as `full` otherwise. Preserve explicit `Corpus` values and compare the resulting classification with the requested corpus. Add a test with a `-reduced` directory whose buildinfo lacks `Corpus`, and verify that `find_run(None)` skips it.

ReEncode returns success whenever the sidecar has ReEncoded, even after FindNeedReEncode
selects tracks under the current settings. If a user adds an existing audio format to
ReEncodeAudioFormats after an earlier conversion, normal processing skips the newly required
conversion because the historical flag is file-wide.
+ // The encoder output can still match the selection, so only an explicit reencode repeats it+ if (conditional)+ {
Evidence
The normal processing path calls ReEncode conditionally; its selection uses current configuration,
but the new branch skips every nonempty selection if an earlier conversion set the file-wide flag.
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution
## Issue description
A persisted file-wide `ReEncoded` flag suppresses conversions selected by later settings changes.
## Fix Focus Areas
- PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs[1826-1853]
- PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs[2988-3012]
## Recommended Fix
Persist enough information about the prior conversion selection or settings to distinguish a repeat of the same conversion from a newly selected track. Skip only the former, and add a test that changes audio-format selection between runs.

RemoveCoverArtMediaInfo calls Convert.ReMux for MediaInfo-only cover art, and that remux uses
defaults that omit global and track tags. When RemoveTags is disabled, a file entering this new
fallback still loses those tags while cover-art removal is attempted.
+ // MkvMerge drops attachments by default, the FfMpeg remux fallback would keep them+ Log.Information("Removing Cover Art from media file : {FileName}", FileInfo.FullName);+ if (!Convert.ReMux(FileInfo.FullName))
Evidence
The fallback invokes the general remux path, whose MkvMerge default options remove both categories
of tags; RemoveTags is a separate configurable option.
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution
## Issue description
The new cover-art fallback remuxes with options that discard unrelated tags even when tag removal is disabled.
## Fix Focus Areas
- PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs[1112-1124]
- PlexCleaner/MkvMergeBuilder.cs[35-47]
## Recommended Fix
Use remux options that retain global and track tags for this fallback, or restore those tags before replacing the original. Test a MediaInfo-only cover-art file with `RemoveTags` disabled.

View medium (1) 4. Re-encoded files can keep a stale bitrate flag✓ Resolved
Description
SetRepairedState measures the bitrate again only after a repair re-encode. The main
ReEncode/DeInterlace steps set ReEncoded/DeInterlaced but do not clear Verified, so
VerifyAndRepair → Verify(true) returns early and VerifyBitrate never runs on the new media. A
file verified on an earlier run that is re-encoded on a later run (for example after a
ReEncodeVideo entry is added) keeps the BitrateExceeded flag of the original media, which is the
stale-flag case ticket #1078 asks to fix.
+ // A re-encode changes the bitrate, measure the refreshed media again+ if (reEncoded)+ {+ _bitrateToolError = !VerifyBitrate();+ }
Evidence
The bitrate is measured again only in SetRepairedState, behind reEncoded from RepairAndReVerify.
ReEncode only adds the ReEncoded/ReMuxed flags and refreshes the media. Verify returns right away
when Verified is set, so VerifyBitrate, the only code that sets or clears BitrateExceeded, is
skipped for files verified on an earlier run.
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution
## Issue description
Only the repair re-encode path measures the bitrate again. ReEncode and DeInterlace change the media but leave Verified set, so Verify skips VerifyBitrate and BitrateExceeded keeps describing the old media.
## Fix Focus Areas
- PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs[1879-1887]
- PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs[1637-1645]
- PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs[2176-2199]
## Recommended Fix
After a successful ReEncode or DeInterlace refresh, call `VerifyBitrate()` and save the state, using the same pattern as `SetRepairedState`. Alternatively, clear the `Verified` flag when the media is rewritten so the later VerifyAndRepair step verifies and measures the new file.

5. A repaired file can be left marked unverified✓ Resolved
Description
SetRepairedState sets Repaired and then clears Verified when _bitrateToolError is true. The
next run's VerifyAndRepair treats that file as unverified and asserts !Repaired (and
RepairAndReVerify asserts the same). If the next verify fails, the assertion fires in debug builds
and tests, and release builds run the repair ladder again on a file already marked repaired.
+ if (_bitrateToolError)+ {+ _sidecarFile.State &= ~SidecarFile.StatesType.Verified;+ }
Evidence
Before this change a successful repair always set Verified together with Repaired, and failure paths
clear Repaired, so the code could assume Repaired means Verified. The new branch keeps Repaired
while clearing Verified, which breaks the Debug.Assert checks before the repair attempts.
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution
## Issue description
After a bitrate tool error, SetRepairedState leaves the state as Repaired without Verified. The VerifyAndRepair/RepairAndReVerify assertions treat that combination as impossible.
## Fix Focus Areas
- PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs[2176-2199]
- PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs[2130-2133]
- PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs[2342-2348]
## Recommended Fix
Either clear `Repaired` together with `Verified` when `_bitrateToolError` is true, or update the assertions and repair entry so a Repaired-but-unverified file is handled on purpose, for example by re-verifying without asserting.

Report a failed input delete as a failed conversion.
When File.Delete(inputName) fails, ReplaceInput logs an error and returns normally. The callers then return success, mark the file as ReMuxed, and register the new output. The original input stays on disk. Later runs fail on that input with "Target file already exists". Return the delete failure to the caller, or track the leftover input as unfinished.

Update ReplaceInput so a File.Delete(inputName) failure is propagated to its
callers instead of being swallowed; ensure callers do not report conversion
success, mark the file ReMuxed, or register the output when the input remains.
Alternatively, track the leftover input as unfinished.
Add a test that startup rejects a tool below its minimum version.
The new tests cover the per-tool comparison only. No test calls Tools.VerifyTools or VerifyToolVersions, so a change that makes VerifyToolVersions always return true would pass the suite. Expose VerifyToolVersions to the test project, then assert false for a tool version below its minimum.

Add a focused test for `process_clip` that verifies its Docker arguments mount
the staged configuration at `/config` with the expected volume mode and pass the

`test_stage_settings_copies_writable` focused on staging behavior.
Add a Process-level test for the cleanup re-run that restores flags.
RewriteDropsFlagsInRun_SetsThemInCleanupReRun calls RepairMetadataErrors directly and never runs Process.ProcessFile. The if (modified) re-run in Process.cs is not exercised. Removing that re-run would leave flags missing, and no test would fail.

Update RewriteDropsFlagsInRun_SetsThemInCleanupReRun to exercise the cleanup
re-run through Process.ProcessFile instead of calling RepairMetadataErrors
directly. Assert that the re-run restores the expected flags, so removing the
modified-triggered re-run in Process.ProcessFile would fail the test.
Assert the DeInterlace() return value in the success case.
The success branch never checks deInterlaced. A regression that replaces the file and then returns false would pass this test. Process.cs:256-261 would then stop processing and record the file as failed. In this test the refresh already fails because the test has no MediaInfo fake. Asserting true needs the tool fakes from FakeTools.WriteSampleToolData.

Update the success branch in the DeInterlace test to assert that the
deInterlaced return value is true, so the test fails if the file is replaced but
the operation reports failure. Set up the required tool fakes with
FakeTools.WriteSampleToolData before invoking DeInterlace.
Assert the language arguments that SetTrackLanguage sends to MkvPropEdit.
The conversion test checks only that the MkvPropEdit log contains name.tmp1. ConvertToMkv restores track languages through SetTrackLanguage before it replaces the input. The fake editor records its arguments but does not check them, and it exits with the configured code. A wrong language value in this step therefore passes the test.
Extend the assertion in the mkvMergeExit == 0 branch so that it checks the logged language edits for the tracks in the fixture.

Review comments at @PlexCleaner/Convert.cs:
- Line 33: Update the temporary-output handling in ConvertToMkv before calling
ReMux so an existing .tmp4 file is never overwritten or deleted; use a unique
temporary path or stop safely when the fixed path is occupied, and preserve the
existing file.
Review comments at @PlexCleaner/ProcessFile.cs:
- Around line 317-320: Update the `_trackFlagsDoNotStick` repair latch so it
cannot suppress flag edits for newly affected tracks; track the latch per track
and flag, or reset it when the set of flagged tracks changes. Preserve the
existing `SetFlags` state and metadata-error checks while ensuring new flag
errors still reach the edit path when `SetTrackFlags` is enabled.
Review comments at @PlexCleaner/SidecarFile.cs:
- Around line 34-35: Update the media-currentness flow involving IsMediaCurrent
so a same-size edit cannot retain stale ScannedInterlace or ScannedCaptions
flags. Ensure content changes are detected before reusing those flags, either by
strengthening ComputeHash beyond first-and-last-block sampling or by
invalidating the scan flags when the existing check cannot confirm unchanged
content.
- Around line 157-158: Update SidecarFile’s sidecar serialization to store the
FFmpeg version, and update IsToolsCurrent to compare it so an FFmpeg-only
version change invalidates ScannedInterlace.

Review comments at @PlexCleaner/Convert.cs:
- Around line 240-248: Update ReplaceInput so a File.Delete(inputName) failure
is propagated to its callers instead of being swallowed; ensure callers do not
report conversion success, mark the file ReMuxed, or register the output when
the input remains. Alternatively, track the leftover input as unfinished.

Nitpick comments:
Review comments at @PlexCleanerTests/CleanupStepRepeatTests.cs:
- Around line 369-373: Update RewriteDropsFlagsInRun_SetsThemInCleanupReRun to
exercise the cleanup re-run through Process.ProcessFile instead of calling
RepairMetadataErrors directly. Assert that the re-run restores the expected
flags, so removing the modified-triggered re-run in Process.ProcessFile would
fail the test.
Review comments at @PlexCleanerTests/MinimumVersionTests.cs:

* Verify Media Again After a ReEncode or DeInterlace Rewrite
A rewrite kept the Verified and BitrateExceeded flags of the media it
replaced, so the new media was never stream verified and kept a stale
bitrate flag. A rename onto a stale sidecar also restored those flags
from the seeded state.
SidecarFile.VerifyStates names the verify results. ReEncode() and
DeInterlace() clear them when they replace the file, and Open() drops
them from the seed when the media differs from the sidecar.
A Repaired file can now be unverified, so the !Repaired asserts before
a repair are removed, and a VerifyFailed state clears Repaired.

* Clear Verify State After Caption Removal and Pin It in Tests
RemoveClosedCaptions() rewrites the video stream, so it clears
SidecarFile.VerifyStates like ReEncode() and DeInterlace().
The tests name each verify flag explicitly, and the rewrite tests run
a successful refresh and assert the persisted sidecar state.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Keep Verify State After Caption Removal and Share the Sidecar Reader
RemoveClosedCaptions() can run again in the repeat cleanup after
VerifyAndRepair(), and on every run while a stream attribute still
reports captions. Clearing the verify state there costs a whole-file
verify each time, while removing the caption NAL units leaves the
decoded frames unchanged. So it keeps the verify state.
FakeTools.ReadSidecarState replaces the per-class sidecar readers.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Read the Sidecar Path Through SidecarFile.GetSidecarName in Tests
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Complete the Refresh in the DeInterlace Replace Test
The success case now has the sample tool data, so DeInterlace()
finishes its refresh, and the test asserts its result and the
persisted sidecar state.

🔵 Needs a closer look
The promotion spans media state and replacement behavior, external tool version floors, Docker dependencies, and regression harness changes that require end-to-end validation across real tools, architectures, and native Windows paths.
Answering the Copilot round on dbb2502, verdict needs a closer look with no counted finding. Its headline: "The promotion spans media state and replacement behavior, external tool version floors, Docker dependencies, and regression harness changes that require end-to-end validation across real tools, architectures, and native Windows paths."
Docker dependencies: the smoke build job built the Docker image on this head and passed.
Architectures and native Windows paths: not exercised in this loop. No check here runs on Windows or on arm64 natively.
Awaiting maintainer: whether the regression run at 105eb81 plus the checks on this head is enough validation to merge, or whether a regression rerun on dbb2502 or a native Windows run comes first.
